    I still think that Technics was one of the few brands with excellent products, but unfortunately it was bought by Panasonic and everything changed... however we have Dennon which in terms of quality is much superior to Pioneer... I don't buy anything from Pioneer I would feel stupid doing so...

    Well some are louder than others so this test is apples to oranges. The louder ones sound better. A and C have some kind of eq effect that is very noticeable bass and treble. G has some low bass boost. It's not an apples to apples comparison.

    Yes. I love r2r dac by Denafrips Ares II 12th so much that I upgraded to the Denafrips Pontus II 12th-1. Denafrips R2R dacs sound 3D and don't give me ear fatigue. Also the ddc Denafrips Iris 12th improved the sound quality of the DACs. streaming source=Apple Music lossless

    If they measure flat, and certainly DACs of this level SHOULD, they will all sound the same. And they did.

    in a real blindtest output voltage needs to be matched, and many swaps between each component to get reliable results. for example if you lstened to the same dac twice without knowing they were the same you would most likely say the second one sounded best. usb sounding "so different" to another input on the same dac is quite odd :)

  • @thebastblastofficial

    I agree. The first DAC i had no reference. That might explain my perception.

    Blast is back... How eerily similar all these DAC’s are in real life especially with the little cheap one that was going head to head with the most expensive DAC, very impressive. Blast, the difference you’re hearing mostly comes from inside you (your mood), head / body placement from track to track, and conversation between the two of you. Excellent video and welcome back. Brian

  • @thebastblastofficial
    @thebastblastofficial4 ай бұрын

    The cheap one had an advantage I guess, short circuits. But it distorted. Was it the connection? Maybe. Who knows? But it was a pleasant and interesting exercise. Audiophiles are really fighting over details, yes, but details add one to another and when you add all these machines, it starts to show at some point. Building a good HiFi system is like making wine and working on details at every step of the process. Love your comments.

    I like your videos! Question - you've mentioned your Schiit Mani a couple of times, but I haven't heard you speak on the internal phone stage of the Billie Amp. How do you like the built in phone stage of the Billie, and how does it compare to external phono stages you've heard? Also are you still happy with the Billie almost one year later? It's an amplifier that I am eyeing up.

    NEVER !! I CAN afford more than i have but seriously ...my question is "Whats more important the (recording)music being played or the system that replays(hint) the music ?" .Tooo many factors take over ,Quality of recording , the condition of your hearing just to name a few considerations . Putting 5000 tires on a 100 car doesn't really make sense . To each their own i suppose. My money is ALWAYS on the Music .Cheers .

    I am interested in this amp. However, we are moving and I am looking to set up a transitional system for the time being. I was looking at a LEAK 230 with Wharfdale speakers. I love the build quality on this Billie amp but, I like a warmer sounding amp. Thanks for the review. I'd very much like to hear how this works with the bluetooth because I don't want to have to add a streamer with more functions.

    As a long time DJ of 43 years, playing in clubs and all other manner of Event. I have ordered some equipment over the years. I still have my very first pair of 1200s & still have the Technics DJ Mixer SH-MZ1200 Technics & DZ 1200 CD turntables. It is a shame that technics did not continue, researching and development along these lines with their CD players.

    I would spend the money on artists coming and playing live with me in my house. Or just playing with my band. That is the best possible sound imho. There is a thing called "Cameo" when you can get artists to play a song for your birthday.

    To each their own. If I bought everything I have, brand new, it would be close to 10 grand so I understand. But... there is the law of diminishing returns and after a certain price point you are just chasing that last 2 or 3% that most will never see. As for turntables, I dont care what super expensive table you use it is an inferior recording format from the start and always will be. Pop, hiss, crack..... I also don't see any tone controls which means you are spending big bucks on room treatments, interconnects and cables to make the system sound like you want it to. I can use a slide on my EQ to fix what I want and as for the "pathway" BS, look at how many connections there is in that system. One more won't make a hill of beans. Every live show and recording studio has a sound board so if you are anti EQ you may want to limit yourself to live acoustic shows..... As for old CD's (from the 80's) I totally disagree and he is missing out on the best CD's recorded. Most were recording made for the limited dynamics of albums that were then just dumped on CD. In other words, the recordings have lots of headroom on CD. One of the reasons some of the bigger bands wouldn't release their stuff on CD for years is because they had to go back in studio and "remaster" their works because CD showed all their screw up that didnt show on albums. So if you want to spend 350 grand on a system to reproduce a sound that came from bands that tour or use studios that dont use 350 grand worth of equipment, it's up to you. Personally, imho my humble system has outshined many of the shows I saw live. I'm always looking to upgrade (I'll be buying his stuff on eBay one day for pennies on the dollar because all stereo equipment loses value as soon as its plugged in) but I'm not willing to spend more than the band did recording it.

    your head is hurt after two hours? mine is after 20 minutes in them. I will think of some workaround cause I love the sound too much. and what I like even more is when you go from ndh20 to ndh30 there's nothing to correct in the mix. you can make all your decisions with dnh20. but yes, the top of the head is hurting, no arguing there.
