Jason Isaacs doesn't look a bit like Zhukov, but he owned each & ever second of his screen time. Simon Beale, who played Beria, was probably more of a physical match, but I'm not sure his presence would've been enough.

Vasily Iosifovich Stalin (0:46) really suffered from problems with alcoholism. However, the real image of Vasily is radically different from that in the film. Vasily was a pilot. He fought in World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was the commander of the 32nd Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment. Was injured. During the war, Vasily’s brother Yakov died. He also fought at the front, like Stalin’s third son, Artyom (adopted). Yakov was captured and shot there by the Germans for refusing to cooperate. Vasily's mother (Stalin's second wife) committed suicide in 1932. Stalin himself was an extremely tough father. He personally hindered Vasily's career by refusing to promote him. So Vasily really suffered from alcoholism, but he in no way looked like the slobbering and cheeky son of a billionaire, whose image the authors decided to use on him.

A few decades from now there will hopefully be a similar movie about whatever officer ends up getting rid of Trump in his second term?

Misguided or not, it's almost unfathomable to imagine a world where an officer of any sort would speak to a civilian (mayor or not) with such deference and respect; acknowledgement of their wrongdoing and, implicitly, that they command power only insofar as their duties are carried out with dignity and honor, in service of the people and law. I can't remember the last time any real person truly admitted to anything without overt insincerity.

My favourite detail is that Zhukov is wearing a field uniform jacket over his parade uniform, meaning there's no reason for him to be wearing the jacket in the first place. He put it on specifically so he could dramatically shrug it off when entering, which is a very in-character thing to do.

I've commented this elsewhere but I'll post it here as well: WHAT A WASTE. So many amazing actors, so many storylines to cover.. the death of stalin should have been a mini-series, not a movie. Maybe cover the period from stalin dying up to khrushchev taking power (or brezhnev). But let's be grateful with what we've got!
