Heres the deal. Thats one of the best reviews ive seen on KZread. As others do, i have story. Im 64. Bedtime back issues for about 14 years. Lower and mid back unfortunately. I need a firmer mattress for my lower back and a softer mattress for my mid back. So im pretty much screwed. Lol. Ive tried probably 7ish mattresses in the last 14 years. My latest mattresses have been a Tempurpedic cool breeze which i returned..too firm. A Purple Premier firm...less firm then the Tempurpedic. This bed was super close to giving a good night sleep but was just off enough requiring me to continue my search. That bed was so close i did the full 100 day trial but sadly exchanged it for a restore soft. Last night was my first night with the soft. Not good due to lower back. Ugh. I will try it for a couple weeks. I have 30 days on the return but not looking promising. Purple has been awesome working with me. The customer service so far is top shelf. Im curious what you went with and if you are happy with it. The reason i avoid brick and mortar stores is the hassles ive had in returns. Thanks again
@TravisVargaКүн бұрын
Thanks for your comment and positive feedback. I’m sorry you are dealing with the bed/back issues. I can definitely relate and I wouldn’t wish it on my enemies. So in the end I kinda went a pretty weird route lol. I exchanged this Purple bed for a ‘Luxery Firm Sterns and Foster Hurston.’ It felt the best out of all the other in the store - and I thought firm enough. Fast forward a couple months, and the bed was already feeling too soft. But I was past my return policy. Woops. So I went on a sleep-style research binge and ended up creating a pillow fort and somewhat changing my sleep style (from ‘stomach’ to more ‘side sleeping.’) The ‘pillow fort’ really helped. Essentially a pillow between my legs, one behind my back, on to lean into on my stomach. My bed looked like one of those magazine covers with 10 throw pillows haha. Fast forward a few more months and the bed was just getting softer and softer. My pillow fort was working less and less. I ultimately moved the bed to the floor, which did help. Then I started reading about ‘Latex’ and how it’s naturally firmer than memory foam or any normal poly foam. I ended up ordering some ‘Sleep on Latex’ firm toppers and put them on top. This helped, but the cushion above the springs was still too soft. So I literally cut out all the memory foam and poly foam out of the bed, so it was just springs. Then I put the 2 latex firm toppers on the springs - essentially doing a DIY mattress build with coils and latex. I also put the bed back on my frame and added a slated bunk board between the springs and frame. This helped a lot to keep it firmer and less sag into the frame. This ultimately is what I am sleeping on since this Springtime and I can finally say, this along with my ‘pillow fort’ has resulted in finally sleeping well and waking up generally pain free. It was a nightmare of a process and I don’t care my bed is basically a Frankenstein monster of materials cause it’s working. I do not look forward to the next time I have to mattress shop again. My advice would be to check out Latex and see if you can find one that has ‘zones’ - top area firm, middle soft etc - as those do exist. The toppers and the beds both have options. I also think you need ‘springs’ in the bed as all foam beds just don’t have enough support. Good luck as you continue. Check out Sleeponlatex.com or another latex brand with the sections like I mentioned. Thanks again for the great feedback and good luck sir. I agree Purple’s customer service was good and even Mattess Firm brick and motor had good service. The whole bed buying process is a giant scam in the end. It’s a couple materials and all the companies use buzz words etc. The bed in a box phenomenon hasn’t helped and now people buy site unseen based on marketing bs. Nightmare fuel haha. Take care!

its heavily recommended not to use the 8k settings due to the slower sensor readout causing very bad rolling shutter effect (jello-y motion or banding under led's). realistically thers no need to record above 4k24p or 4k30p with shutter set to double the frame rate for normal footage to look the most natural. that being said, the a7R cameras arent video centric cameras, photography with that massive 61mp sensor is the primary purpose.
@TravisVarga9 күн бұрын
Agree with you. In good lighting and on a tripod though, the 8k from the Sony A7R V is a step above 4k. You can notice the difference (I've used the a7s iii since 2020 and right away, the 8k looks more detailed and crisp). Sometimes that extra sharpness and detail isn't a good thing though (video wise) - as can up the digital-ness that some people don't like. But I found the footage to be a lot better than expected. All the caveats of course though as you mentioned - and in the end, it's a photo first camera. Excellent B Cam to a more video-centric model. Thanks for the comment.

Yes as you see in the video, the colors of the monitors are a bit different. Maybe try to have one ‘mimic’ the others color profile? I know you can slightly adjust in the settings. Twice baked I think
@TravisVarga23 күн бұрын
You're right, very similar in board outline, but def different in how it will ride. The nose on the Machadocado is not as wide, the tail isn't as wide either. The outline stays a bit more straight. Also this 5'10 is about 38 liters. The Potato's at this size are around 44/45 L. Seems Firewire now has streamlined the Potato series to the 'Sweet Potato' - which has the swallow tail and 5 fin. So perhaps this is the 'new' Baked Potato, but I think a good bit more performancy - and the fact it's a tri fin means it will surf a lot more in the pocket. Looking forward to trying the Sweet Potato soon.

For sure, thanks for the comment. I hear you on the sizing, I tend to like my boards generally a bit bigger. I’m in good shape but age, wear and tear = volume and paddle power are my best friends and I prioritize them over performance. I once tried to size down my Pod Mod back in the day (to 5’6) and just didn’t like the lack in paddle power, so prob still traumatized from that lol. Dark Arts boards rip, I’m sure you love yours. I like the extra push, weight, and speed the extra dimensions of a board can give you also. To each their own though and in the end - whatever gets you in the water, catching waves and enjoying the experience is all that matters.

Yeah. Not a red widow spider. A red widow spider has fiery red cephalothorax and legs with a black and red abdomen. This is a red orb weaver. Also, the red widow is EXTREMELY hard to find. You would have to be out in the palmettos of Florida to find them. And, that is if you are lucky to do so. They are actually one of the least populated widow species in North America. EDIT: I wanted to add. If you do find one, and that is a big IF, you don't want to risk a bite. The neurotoxin that it produces can, and has, cause lifelong torment. The toxin binds to your central nervous system causing symptom to reoccur for the rest of your life. Not a good idea to mess with them.

Cool and nice on the progression. It’s a bit tricky cause I initially would say it’s not really best for moving onto smaller boards, as its more nimble then they advertise. But if you size it if enough maybe. I’ve had boatier boards for sure. ButI think 6’0 could be big enough, but maybe even 6’2. Or if you wanna cruise more like a Midlength style on a smaller board, I’d suggest the Seaside in 6’0, esp if you are you or a back foot surfer and like quad.

Haha you know..had to bring back a classic
“Hello, police? Mr crazy hands is loitering in front of my mansion”
Haha luckily I got outta there before the cops arrived..
Couch gonna be gross after a few rainfalls
Haha for sure - I was wondering how it got there..
Chill place for sunsets and watching the coaster fly thru on the tracks...get rid of the dumped furniture f#$king up the vibe...
Agreed - no clue how it got there haha
Just picked up a 6’2”… for my 5’10”; 200lb
That’ll be perfect. Let me know how it goes - what fins you go with?
@@TravisVarga I’m gonna go w the tri-fin setup first. I’m coming from a bodyboarding background and didn’t want to have an array of boards for different conditions, but rather one board for all conditions, so to speak. I was actually watching this very video at the shop before confirming my purchase lol.. There was actually a 5’6” version of this I was so close to getting, but went w the 6’2” as the size and everything would fair better in the long run from Mushy to Overhead waves. Keep u posted for sure! Crazy how there is so much volume given the sizing.. The volume for this 6’2” board is equivalent to that of boards much bigger.
Stoked to see the board exactly where I’m going to be surfing most of the time. Picking my 5’6 up today from the warehouse. Thanks for the stoke see ya out there - probably at the point/hermos/south bird 👊🏾💥🤙🏾
Awesome for sure man, it's a really fun board. Let me know how it goes.
Which one is better for walking?
If you want more cushion, the new Gaviota 5. It is prob hard enough to find a Gaviota 4 these days, so I’d just suggest the 5 since the 4 has been phased out.
Thanks for talking about the arch and then flipping the sandals around so fast you can't see anything. You need to show the arch from the rear to forward, not the side, to really see how substantial it is.
Thanks for the comment, apologies for that. This have a ton of arch support and HOKA has a great return policy - so give them a try and return if you need. Most arch support of any shoe or sandal I’ve ever used.
Jesus saves
*Wanted to update everyone, I DID get to 1k subscribers and now I'm monetized. It was a long journey but worth it.
Hi Travis. I now have the exact same setup. I got U2723QE last week to use with my older U2720Q. I feel this U2723QE has much warmer colours. So, white pages feel paler compared to my U2720Q. Is it something you observed too?
Yes as you see in the video, the colors of the monitors are a bit different. Maybe try to have one ‘mimic’ the others color profile? I know you can slightly adjust in the settings. I have a Studio Display and the U2723QE - no longer have the older Dell monitor. Good luck in matching them, I think you’ll be able to find a solution.
Totally epic!!! South Bowl? In ‘23 I had one of the best days skiing ever at Baldy. Untracked lines off Chair 1 and 3 all day! The only better day I ever had was a 2 foot powder day at Snowbird and I got on the second tram of the morning lol. Mt Baldy can be one of the greatest places you’ll ever ski if you hit it right and know where the stashes are :). Had an amazing day here in ‘24 as well. But it wasn’t total freshies, prolly hit it two days after you did but still found some amazing snow!
Yup - and that’s awesome. Yeah it was a day for the history books for sure. Felt like a Heli-trip haha. Stoked you’ve gotten it so epic as well. Hopefully this upcoming winter delivers the goods. Thanks for the comment.
Very nice 🤙🏽
thanks guys
It's a Firewire Baked Potato
Twice baked I think
You're right, very similar in board outline, but def different in how it will ride. The nose on the Machadocado is not as wide, the tail isn't as wide either. The outline stays a bit more straight. Also this 5'10 is about 38 liters. The Potato's at this size are around 44/45 L. Seems Firewire now has streamlined the Potato series to the 'Sweet Potato' - which has the swallow tail and 5 fin. So perhaps this is the 'new' Baked Potato, but I think a good bit more performancy - and the fact it's a tri fin means it will surf a lot more in the pocket. Looking forward to trying the Sweet Potato soon.
nice little sneak peak. Hope you get to test it again and get footage soon. Yew!!!
Will it be your next board?
@@tezf6883 no, I have a huge list at the moment. I'm totally interested though because RM's boards have all been so good for me at my break. So unless firewire lines it up and scores me a demo, likely I won't review it till later when it becomes more available. I have a new AIPA release, Twinsman, and a few others I'm queuing up. But the board looks sick and I'm glad it is in Helium. Perfect for my typical waves.
@@tezf6883 Yes we need you to boost on this Thomye
Thanks mate. I still can't believe when I went to edit clips the fast one Surfline did on me with their update (still love you Surfline)... Luckily was able to redeem myself a bit there, but looking to join your solo shot type content soon. Well in a similar relm ;) stay tuned, 'big things coming' as the kids cringinley say. Would LOVE to own one of these (maybe in the future) - too bad I just got that Mashup haha (but that board is more knifey and in a slightly different category).
The matrix for anyone wondering
HUH?????
Haha 🤷♂️
For 170 pounds and you surf well you could go for a 5 6 30L easily I once bought a 5 10 and sold if few weeks after (too big) now got a 5 6 (im 160 pounds) very happy but prefer my dart art surfeye 😊 In my opinion bigger waves less volume Good video and amazing pool too (wish they build one in portugal too)
For sure, thanks for the comment.
Baabaaee? put a down unlike just for that
Haha that was my favorite part
Not a good idea to mess with them.
classic
Never gets old, scene lives in my head rent free.
This will be one of the areas impacted by the tidal surge. All of the eastern seaboard will be under water. 78 percent will not make it beyond 5-10 miles from thier house.
Yikes..
❤❤❤what size of board? 7'0?
Correct 7’0 👍
Looks so fun 🔥
you just 'mash it up' on the mashup
Great video! If you tighten the screw above the leg that's falling in on the aluminum tripod, that adjusts the stiffness so you won't smash your fingers
Appreciate it, and that’s a great life hack I didn’t know about. My fingers thank you lol. I also got the KZreadr ‘go-to’ Ulanzi aka ‘peak design rip off’ travel tripod as a baby brother to the 055’s. It’s surprisingly pretty awesome.
Oh great another boring video of looking at some stacked rocks like you're the first person to ever stack some rocks I'm sorry you get a zero for this video and a big thumbs down😅
Haha this was the best comment I’ve received in a while - thank you
Proper boots none of those barefoot crap.
Looking forward to getting a pair for around the house! After having my baby in August, I am constantly on my feet and I developed some foot issues. Hoka Clifton 9 tennis shoes saved me. I’m a total convert now and ready for my second pair! Thanks for the review 👍
Your welcome - yea I still live in these sandals and just keep reordering. Still the best house shoes on the market for non-barefooters. Thanks for the comment and happy HOKA’s are working for you.
The hood started to come off on my oneall 5.4 hooded wetsuit change over to body glove hood suit.. check out wetsuit wearhouse for hooded suits here in New England
Would you say this is also better than the blueprint buttertech 4
Yea I’d suggest the Hyperfreaks over the Blueprints. The new blueprint is def more stiff cause if tb4, but also more warm. I just need flexibility and they are warm enough for me.
Can we get an update m? How is the duribiliy? Are you wearing it more again? I saw there was a point in time where you decided not to wear it. Update would be amazing!!! Best review I have seen yet! Thanks man
Thank you. Sadly the I had to sell. For cheap too. Just kept being a bit too stiff and never loosened up. Warm but my back needed the Hyperfreak back. So unless you have 55 and under, be if it’s that cold get the 5/4 hooded Hyperfreak - which is pretty awesome.
Will a 6'0 mashup be good as a first time shortboard to progress skills? I am 6'0 168 lbs. Been riding mid lengths for a few years can do small maneuvers down the line . Thanks!
Thanks for your informative review! If this helps, I prefer my 5’4” Glazer over my 5’5” Glazer. And like u said, fitness can be part of it! Keep up the good work! Schwack!
Had a really good sesh on it today, and was getting a bit frothed on the 5’9. It’s all working out for ol’ Gil
