    I got mine used last year knowing the II was coming. I was upgrading from a a7ii. I love the size of the body. The sensor in the body is arguably one of the best. For the photography that I do, the amount of tweaking I need to do in post is not as much as I used to. The colors on this sensor coming out of the camera are really good. Also 24MP is more than enough for normal people

    Hi Matt, I have a very silly question for you. I have this lens and love it very much, particularly how sharp it is. I have it paired with my A7RV and love all the detail it can capture. But there is a part of me that wonders is the 35 mm GM significantly sharper? I know that is both bright brighter and has fewer optical flaws, but is it also significantly sharper? Sharpness is my number one priority. Appreciate any and all detailed feedback you might be able to give. Regardless, thank you for your incredible content.

  • @bmccook14

    @@MattYamamoto100 Yes, I like to wear lower. Plus I found out that when it's packed (interior and water bottle pocket), it's doesn't lay right because the straps are so far away from you body. It flips to the back pocket is not against your back and the front pocket now faces up.

    Focus breathing on these new small prime Sony G lenses is very visible…too bad i was interested by 40mm f2.5 for video on the gimbal but my 17-28 Tamron is better in video without focus breathing , no CA , very sharp and also in photo. In apsc mode i can get 42mm 2.8 in video. But for photo these 40mm and 50mm f2.5 are impressive. I wait a updated 35mm f1.8 gen 2 with the aperture ring and no focus breathing for video/photo

  • @MattYamamoto100

    @@MattYamamoto100 Sony a7c. I don’t have this feature and don’t want it.I don’t like the trend Sony is doing. Jason Polin made the same opinion during the lens review of latest Sony. They are making lenses with flaw and release new camera that can blur the flaw with digital or trick crop. But that’s not right. When you bought a 17mm you want to use it. You don’t want to finally get a refined 20mm because the lens have flaws. That’s not correct. To my opinion, Sony has badly designed their two linear motor focus. Tamron and old Sony (35f1.8 and 24-105f4) use only one motor and have no focus breathing and are highly love by Sony community. The problem is the new two linear motor in all new Sony lenses. I was a high skill developper and i foresee a difficulty to combine the result of the two motor into one blurry result. I bet they will refine the design in the future or come back to one faster single motor like Tamron or their old designs.

Regarding the statement about money not changing hands…it’s meant to make a distinction between a video like this where I’m free to say whatever I want VS getting paid to do an ad for the company where I’m given strict guidelines on what I can and can’t say. Wotoncraft had zero input and didn’t get to preview the video before it went live. I hope that clears some things up!

    Thanks for such a detailed overview Just a few questions: !Were all the test shots filmmed with the Sony 24-70 f2.8 v1 lens? Did you have a filter on the lens? Was the footage slowed down and stabilized at all in post?

  • @MattYamamoto100
    @MattYamamoto100Ай бұрын

    All of the B-roll was shot using a Sony 85mm f1.8 with a Polar Pro VND. No other filters (I forgot my black pro mist lol). The shots were a mix of 24p and 60p (slowed down). I did stabilize the first clip of the sea lions in post, only because I ruined the shot myself by being on uneven ground. It was such a cool moment that I didn't want to leave it out because of my own mistake...
