BlueChevron Driver Training Academy

BlueChevron Driver Training Academy

BlueChevron is a high performance driving school for high performance individuals.

We offer the most comprehensive driver training programme for novice, and learner drivers in South Africa.

In South Africa the average learner receives only 10 to 15 hours of training and most of those hours are spent in the yard learning to park!

To achieve a high level of competence, BlueChevron learners cover more than 50 km on some of our lessons.

A key aspect of our programme is to allow learner's to experience real world driving conditions such as driving at 120 km/h, overtaking and being overtaken.

The course incorporates advanced driving techniques which are aimed at developing a high degree of situational awareness, and accurate hazard perception.

Training modules include threshold braking, trail braking, skid recovery, night driving, high speed cornering, and hostile environment awareness.

    Procedure for moving off: Depress the clutch pedal and engage first gear. Lift your left heel off the ground while pushing the clutch pedal into the floor. Slowly move your left leg up until the vehicle starts to vibrate. Once the vehicle vibrates you stop the clutch pedal where it is and put your heel down. Observe 360 degrees around your vehicĺe Accelerate to 2000 rpm Release handbrake As soon as the vehicle moves off slowly release clutch while accelerating.

    I've just learned this months ago or even a year ago. In South Africa, you cannot turn left on a red light. Not even if you stop first or if there's no oncoming traffic, cyclists, or pedestrians.

    what if the lights turn red and you are already in the intersection?

  • @bluechevrondrivertraininga347
    @bluechevrondrivertraininga3472 ай бұрын

    That's a good question. The reason you cross the line and wait in the middle is so that you can continue with the turn once the lights turn red. If you stay behind the line and the lights go red you cannot cross the line.

    Will I fail if I drive into parking from the front instead of reversing into the parking? I see people reversing while practicing and testing but it changes later when in public. Would I fail?

  • @bluechevrondrivertraininga347
    @bluechevrondrivertraininga3474 ай бұрын

    Thanks for your question. Reversing into a parallel parking bay is the most effective way to park in a tight space. The car rotates much better when turning in back first. People who go in front first in real life usually only do so in a double parking space or it is because they do not know how to reverse in. Learn the correct technique and you will remove a big part of the anxiety! And yes you would fail if you don't reverse into the bay!

    Safety wise, what would you recommend, front facing seat with dual straps or single cross strap? Or is it a seat according to child age thing

  • @bluechevrondrivertraininga347
    @bluechevrondrivertraininga3475 ай бұрын

    I think most seats have three belts. I prefer the front facing seat at the back however there nothing wrong with a rear facing seat on the front passenger seat. The only thing is to remember to switch the front passenger airbag off when the seat is there and switch it back on for an adult passenger.

  • @bluechevrondrivertraininga347

    Motherwell is easier but is a more dangerous environment to drive in (reckless drivers). Korsten is more technical therefore difficult to do the test in but better behaved drivers. I prefer Korsten for safety.

    Do you lose points for changing to 2nd gear after going over a speed bumb?

  • @bluechevrondrivertraininga347
    @bluechevrondrivertraininga347 Жыл бұрын

    That's a good question. The reason for changing down to a lower gear is to prevent making the engine labour because of the low speed. The idea is to select the gear before you need it. If you change after the speed bump and you let the engine struggle for more than 5 seconds then you'll loose points.
