    You are just like me after reading the description. I can’t even do shows (that aren’t competitive) because I’m too insecure. This requires real strength and it’s obvious you put a lot of effort into this sport. I’m 19 and not nearly as good as you are!!!!! Maybe someday <3

    Glad someone can relate! Believe it or not, the first time I skated my solo clean was this past Thursday. It took 7 months to get a clean skate. Hopefully I'll start skating clean, and this will give me more confidence next season. Good luck in your own journey!

    Hello, are the wheels very hard? Does the floor have to be super smooth to skate with these? I practice figure skating with squad skates and in my free time I ride inline skates. But I would like to try inline figure skates. However, it is important for me to know what type of floor they are for to know if I will be able to use them in my city 🫣🥲 Can you help me please! Congrats on your axel! I never had the nerve to try it on roller skates, but was able to do it with ice skates on, on the mat. Of course, could not remain upright on the landing because of the sudden stop on the rubber mat, but if there had been a harness at the rink would have tried it in a minute! I was 35 at the time. Let me just say that the falls on ice are not so bad as on a wooden floor where you come to a screeching halt! The slide on ice takes a lot of the concussion out of the fall.

    Watching you have a blast on your Snow Whites is killing me because I've been both a roller skater (starting at age 5) and an ice skater (about age 13). Did roller and ice dancing for many years, and some freestyle too. A few years ago, maybe 5 years, I nearly bought some Snow Whites, but backed out at the last moment because of my age. Just because of circumstances, have not roller skated for about 3 years, but plan to get back very soon. I will be 80 this year. Wish me luck! I really enjoyed your video.

    I am a figure skater but i am not an ordinary one. I live in a place where there aren't any inside rinks, only outside rinks that are opened only in the winter. In the summer i train on that type or rollerblades. I can say im pretty good. I am a pro at waltz jumps and half flips. I master the sit spin but on 2 legs not on 1 and the simple 1 foot spin. I train really hard because my dream is to go to the Olympics but i know i wont get there because i was born in the wrong area. Imagine I wish i could be an Olympic figure skater, but i cant train on summer and spring. I mean i train but not on the ice. Pls like to support me.

    I bought a pair of inline skates second hand and I can’t seem to even do swizzles. They aren’t meant for ice skating and have one rubber stop on the back of one skate. Is it safe to say that snow whites would be a better choice? How easy is it to turn them? You make it look easier than what I have attempted on these other skates

  • @natsskates
    @natsskates Жыл бұрын

    I can guarantee you that your skates which you're describing to me are not meant for figure skating. They most likely don't have a rocker (i.e. all the wheels are on the same level rather than the front and back wheels being slightly higher than the middle wheels), and I can imagine that it would be extremely difficult to do turns on inline skates without a rocker! The Snow Whites are meant for figure skating and absolutely do have a rocker, as well as toe stops in the front which act very much like the toe picks of ice figure skates. You can *try* to make your inline skates work a bit better for turns by swapping out the front and back wheels for slightly smaller ones (very slightly, don't go too crazy), so that they're slightly lifted off the ground when you're on the middle wheels. That way you would have a rocker and might have more luck with the turns. Be sure to get this done at a pro shop so that they can choose the correct wheels for you. But ultimately if your goal is to figure skate, I highly recommend getting a similar setup (inline figure frames and figure boots) to what I have.

    How have I not seen your Axel Journey video until noooooowwww??????????????? Hi, only 5 months lateeee…..!!!!! OMG, girl, I would like die if we were skating at the same rink! Everything we’ve ever talked about, and this video is like the story of my skating life to a T!!!!!! It’s almost going to be A YEAR since I first landed my axel and it’s been a holy-hell of a year with it…. 😭 😭 😭 I can’t… I can’t even describe-except this video describes it pretty well. “The hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life” … the most unreal thing I’ve ever done in my life. I’ve gone through at least 15 ‘versions’ of ‘how to’ land an axel. And all 15 versions have been landed. And none of them have been ‘my consistent.’ And then when I try to do it in the program… at a comp…. all careful ‘technical feeling’ goes out the window 🙄💦 I’m really impressed how all your axel attempts have all been fully ‘going for it!’ I’ve never been able to through my life in the air unless I’m absolutely secure about what I’m about to do. Obviously, only the times when I’ve thrown my life into the air… absolutely certain about what I’m doing… have they been landed. They’ve become a lot better for me this last month. Both my off ice and on ice axel. A huge factor for this lately is focusing on pulling my right side (arm, shoulder, ribs) as far back as it can go just before i pounce. I noticed on one of your successful axels, your right shoulder was pulled back. Also, I have to count one, two, in my head to make sure that I hold the glide forward. A big problem was always because I rushed the take off. I remember a while back we were talking about axel phases… yeah girl… yeah…….. 🙈 I’ve had glorious hours (on a certain day) and weeks one time… when I just had it consistent!! 🤦🏻‍♀️💦 Oh yeah, and I’ve also landed a double sal back in March, with no footage because my phone was full and refused to record longer than 30 seconds. Biggest joke from the universe and first world problem of my life…!! I love skating 🤣

  • @natsskates
    @natsskates Жыл бұрын

    Hey, thanks for your comment! Glad I'm not alone 😅 I hope yours is going better than mine because I finally lost it again at the end of June and can't get it back. I takeoff then freak out in mid air and pull out, unable to complete the rotation. For the last couple of weeks I've gone back into the harness and I'll just stay for a while, because the moment the harness comes off, I do the freak out thing again. I'll try to pull my right side back more on the takeoff and hold the edge longer, these are both things that my coaches have said, but I guess sometimes it takes someone else saying it 🤷‍♀️ Congrats on your double Sal, I'm sure you'll land it again soon! My double Sal is messy but I tend to be able to land 1 in 10 attempts (so maybe one per session). It's much less scary than an axel.

    Thank you! I'd rather not have an axel than have a cheated axel. While I'm grateful to have mostly correct technique, there's still some issues with my technique which will take a while to fix. That's an interesting question, I really don't know how to answer that. Technically you could use them for recreational purposes if you wanted, but I think it's needlessly expensive. I'm in Canada and paid about $400 CAD just for the inline frames alone. The boots are separate, and figure skating boots also cost a pretty penny (at least $300 CAD), although I got my boots used for $50. The wheel base on these frames isn't as stable as what you would get on recreational inlines. This frame has only 3 wheels, and they are rockered (meaning they're not in a straight line - the front wheel doesn't touch the ground if you put your weight on the back two wheels), so at any given time you're only skating on two wheels, either the front two or the back two. For recreational purposes you may want something a bit more stable, but it's up to you. You could also get slalom inline skates, they have 4 wheels I believe, and the wheels are also rockered. About the boots, they're meant for figure skating and are really stiff because they're meant to provide support when the skater lands the jump. You don't want stiff boots like that for recreational skating, it may do more harm than good. I would maybe recommend roller skates for recreational skating, for example Moxi Lolly roller skates. They aren't as clunky as recreational inlines, they look super cute, and they're stable since you have 2 wheels in the front and 2 in the back. They're $350 USD. But Moxi has some cheaper models (such as Beach Bunny) which are more affordable but the boot isn't leather. So that's my 2 cents.

    @@natsskates Thank you soooo much for your reply!! I couldn’t find this info anywhere so I really appreciate your in-depth explanation!! I do have two pairs of rollerskates (with similar type boots) but I’ve been looking for some cute inlines as well. I really fell in love with this brand, but after reading your comment on how the wheels are placed it sounds like these may not be the greatest for just simply skating distances. Too bad for me haha! I think I’ll have to accept the fact that inline skates just won’t look as cute! But thanks again for your reply ❤️
