    I'm an endurance runner, 67 and recently (unexpectedly) failed an exercise stress test that was part of routine screening. That pointed to myocardial ischemia after just 20 minutes of what felt like easy-moderate exercise (no discomfort) when I often do 4-hour sessions for fun. I thought I would ace the test but it served a valuable diagnostic purpose: subsequent CT angiography revealed 50% and 30% stenosis in coronary arteries (quite a surprise and a bit alarming). The cardiologist prescribed statins. Aware of the statin controversy, I have spent many recent hours in PubMed central, and just read the Great Cholesterol Myth. Halfway through "A Statin Free Life" by Dr Aseem Malhotra (page 54) there is a case study on Tony Royle. That's how I got to this truly excellent video. Every word in this video struck a chord but especially his superb rebuttal to 'do you really think you know more than the experts'. From "A Statin Free Life" (p50): "In those who were high-risk or had suffered a heart attack and who had taken statins religiously for 5 years, there was an increase in life expectancy of a meagre 4.2 days over that 5-year period. When I ask doctors at conferences to guess what they would expect or hope for, I get responses of anything from a few months to an extra 10 years . But the correct answer is just over 4 days." I am definitely going to ask my cardiologist, as part of my due diligence. I have more reading to do to educate myself but I already wonder whether Tony was being overly diplomatic, in understanding how and why the medical profession seem to have things so badly wrong. Engineers would be fired for a sledgehammer attack on the enzyme that statins target. Doctors continue to get away with it. I will need a lot of convincing before I take the statins prescribed. Meanwhile, I'm hoping to find good advice on appropriate exercise intensity levels in Chapter 8 of this book (or elsewhere). Big thanks.

    A fantastic programme with unrivaled support network. Their main objective is to help people change their eating habits to regain health and vitality and not profit making from ill health; unlike the world we live in. Ask your GP to refer you to the programme - it will change your health outcome!

    So excited to see you all! I'm a colombian living in London, mostly carnivore 6 years ago. Previously Keto for a year. I'm so glad to see a lot of the best carnivore doctors in the list. Ofc so glad to see heroes in their fields as well. It's exciting to ask questions to the authors of your favourite books. I'm particularly thankful to Baszucki family for the support on Metabolic Psychiatry and PHC. I hope soon to be able to access metabolic psychiatry treatments in the UK with my private insurance company but the names I tried are not in their list yet. I hope to find more contacts during the conference, unfortunately I have to attend online. Let's all push this to happen. Grassroots movement is the way. Sadly there is too much unnecessary suffering out there and a lot of us where waiting for all of our lives for this answers! Thank you so much!

    I nearly died when my 22 YO daughter told me she'd gone vegan. She eats fish now, but still refuses meat. She was brought up by a mother that became seriously ill on vegetables because of medication I was placed on by a doctor. It ruined my digestion. I leaned that vegetables and vegetable matter, grains, nuts etc. contained very nasty chemicals; both natural and added, could really be harmful. What do you do with a child like that?

  • @hamsterbox4732
    @hamsterbox4732Ай бұрын

    Why is she going vegan? I usually post something like this on the vegan's posts...😁 May be there are a few points to touch her views. Vegan for the animal? How does that work, when bees, caterpillars and bugs can't find their food any longer because of endless fields of monoculture veg? And the birds can't find the bugs to feed their chicks any longer? And the bugs on plants and in the soil that get killed by pesticides, because they'll eat your veg? And the animals that get killed when the harvesting machines & ploughs go through the fields? And when forests get chopped down taking away habitat for many animals to make space for monoculture and your plant food? And when the soil is exploited and only survive by chemical fertiliser for your veg? And when the rivers in some countries run low, overheat and cant sustain fish as before, because the water is used to grow your plant food? And when the poly tunnels under which your early veg are growing decay and poison water & soil? And when voiceless people in poverty have to harvest your food in appalling conditions with no chance to ever prosper, so you can get your cheap veg? Not to mention the planes flying in your tasteless strawberries with little micro nutrition in winter, so you can eat the rainbow...Every coin has two sides. Veganism is also not perfect. Don't pretend you are any better than someone who eats meat, beef..., raised on meadows and fertilising the ground, giving back what they took, sustaining diversity with their dung and a short way to your plate. Living means killing, whatever way.

    @@hamsterbox4732 Oh believe me I know all the arguments I just don't get the chance to make them. She's nearly fifty now, and lives in Melbourne. I live in Brisbane. It's a bit far for a debate. Besides, we don't have the serious problems here with animals and fields that much of the rest of the world have yet. Oh yes, there is monoculture of course, but not to the outrageous extent that the Americas do. And most of our animals still graze. The trouble is, if I were to bring these arguments up on the phone, the conversation, wouldn't last another two minutes. I'm sure you see that. What bothers me, is I know her health is failing and mine isn't. I'm only getting stronger on meat and fish.

    Yes, and sometimes we just have to step back for the sake of the relationship. Once you feel you have done your best you could do, be content. Sometimes we can not do more and, as painful as it might be, stay beside them.... and hope something will shift.... it is like a cult. All the best.... lots of love from England.
