Interesting. Not a fan of mud, so definitely not for me
I love that river. I grew up in Drumheller area. Now living in Okotoks catching the rainbows mainly.
0:06 have zero fishing etiquette. You walked straight up beside other people and cast your line. You have autism. No rainbow trout in the red deer. You can't even identify fish.
How long did this repair last?!
OMG you are the only person I've ever heard quote the Lost world. "Dont go into the long grass". I will subscribe just for that.
That’s how it starts. With the ooh and the ahhh and then comes the biting and the screaming. Thanks for watching and thanks for the subscription. Hit me up on messenger sometime if you’re ever in the area and you want to go fishing.
Nice video, nice fish. Good to see you back fishing on here.
More to come! Thanks for watching
That was a beauty bow! Nice! 🤙😎
Yes it was! Thanks for watching
There isn’t a massive head of fish in the Red Deer river and I used to find lots of night lines so I used to pull them out because unfortunately a lot of immigrants do not respect t the rules ,there is no need to kill everything.
Agree. I almost always catch and release. Thanks for watching
Nice job man🎉
Thanks 😁
Nice
When r u gona join me for a drift?
I felt like sticking a barbed hook in my own eye halfway through this
I’d never heard of a goldeye! Learn something new!
Actually. The first time I caught one I didn't know what it was either.. Thanks for watching

It’s been 4 years since the video. Is the transom still holding up?

Try taking a piss, works almost every time for me.
thats funny cuz its true.. we call it chumming the water
After some seasons how has this held up?? My transoms in pretty similar condition, and like your boat mine was (almost) free so spending a ton of money in it doesnt make much sense for me. Curious if its still strong and rigid?
Heck yes. I actually gave the boat away this winter and the new guy has a 125 on the back. It held up amazing. Tons of people told me it would never work in the comments but it stayed strong.. I believe a lot of it had to do with the awesome aluminum plates as well, but nothing in the transom was spongy. Thanks for watching.
My biggest pike was on a big 3 of diamonds. Roughly that size, given to me by a friend. Was sitting in his tackle box for like 20 years before I used it to catch mine. I still have that spoon.
That's awesome. I've actually talked way bigger stuff and it's amazing because something big as Say 12 inches will catch a pike around 12 inches. They are very greedy eaters. Thanks for watching.
Great stuff bro. What rod is it?
You know what. It was my favourite Rod, and I couldn't tell you what it was off of my memory. That rod was stolen out of my truck.. Thanks for watching
This is awesome! Ive got a jon boat totally not worth going through the trouble of replacing the transom. Ill mostly be trolling on flat water. Just curious why you reinforced with metal plates. Was it only to keep the motor mounts from deforming the fiberglass? Ive got really thin aluminum cover plate on the inside. You a much smaller extra plate would be sufficient? How did you reattach the top metal piece. Not sure if that provides any structural support for my boat.
I believe I put the top metal strip back on with screws. I also put a whole bunch of no more nails wet grab underneath it.. Good luck with your project. And thanks for watching..
Nice work! I thought there are no snakes in Alberta because of cold temperatures 🤔
There’s lots of snakes. When I was a kid, my grandma actually caught me with well over 10 snakes in the drawer under my bed lol.
How many bottles did you use? Also how long did you actually wait for it to cure. I’m doing this tomorrow and will only Be using it on a lake with a 50hp motor. Most of the transom is decent I believe!
That one took me I believe five bottles. If you’re going to do it, I recommend drilling, smaller holes so you’ll leave much more material in the transom, but I just got rid of my boat a couple months ago. The person I sold it to was happy, and the transom was still holding strong. Good luck. Feel free to let me know how it worked out.
The name starts with a V🥱
You know it. Thanks for not spilling the beans. One of my favorite places to stop when we’re traveling back from BC.
Could you send me the link where you got the plates from?
@FishGawd
The plate was off the back of an old electrical panel. It was probably 3/8 or half inch thick aluminum. I cut out off the bottom the pieces I needed that acted as the inside plates as well.
Great stuff brother. Those bugs looked mental.. not ready for that again. Here watching this video getting pumped for the next season!
Call Lake is a great place to go just for some easy fishing to put numbers in the boat. I love it up there, but I seem to always manage to hit some sort of rock shelf or reef. That’s not on the fishing charts. Lol.
Howdy. I have a 90 hp Johnson. Do you think it's necessary to take the outboard off for this repair?
I’m not sure. Nothing I did. There was conventional. I had to take mine off because the transom was so soft that my motor actually poked a couple holes in the fiberglass and I was taking on water when I was fishing at Lake Baptiste. Please let me know how it works out for you. Also, I recommend using a much skinnier drillbit and taking out far less material, or if you use a big drillbit, fill the holes afterwards with some kind of epoxy
What is the opening day for gull lake?
I’m not 100% sure. You could probably just look on the Aspen Beach website or Brewster Landing I think is the other campsite. Thanks for watching. See you on the water.
i get this is 4 years old but thats terrible
I really didn’t care about the boat if it didn’t work. But it turned out being awesome and I’m getting lots of responses from other people who have tried it. I just recommend everybody drills smaller holes and or fills those holes with epoxy after they’re done, but I just sold my boat. Took off the motor and the transom was still wicked strong.
That lure (flat fish) was the equivalent of a large size Yakima which was Helina? Warans look like that too. Damn the spelling anyway.
Me I cut mine 25 /75 with vodka & cruse at about 5mph.
Vodka, Diet Coke. Thanks for watching. Are you up at Baptiste. We should go fishing sometime together. Hit me up on Facebook messenger. Paul Burt
Thumbs 👍 Up !

Nice video! Where was this video filmed?
Sorry so long lol. I’m terrible at remembering to check the comments. That is Baptiste lake in Central Alberta.
I love your videos paul
need one with us baby girl. and ur baby girls to. hope u got papa out on the water
Haven’t used a flatfish in decades. Maybe next season. Thanks for the video. ...all the best...Chris 🇨🇦
Yeah buddy. Those bananas just crush it. I was catching pike they were almost as big as some of the lures I was using..
Would be a great video until you mentioned Googan shit. Disliked lol
Where in Nothern Alberta? I am originally from Boyle.
That's Baptist lake. Over on the white gull side
Sup dude just wanted to mention that this year im working on a pole holder that can slip on mount to your front tire for ice fishin from inside your truck, that way you can still jig while ypur warming up in the cab with the door closed, by useing the steering wheel to move the rod.
Oh hell yeah man you should send me some information on that I'd buy one off you just to do a video. [email protected]
New sub from alaska, came for a bobber vid and stayed for the trout. Good luck and tight lines my Canadian neighbor.
Thanks for the sub! How's the fishing up in Alaska. I've done quite a bit of fishing in the Yukon I imagine it's the same. I've caught huge pike. Lots of salmon. Arctic Grayling. Lots of rainbows.
please use the Williams wobbler in the gold and silver color iv got millions of fish on them
Oh heck yes man. I've got thousands of fish on the Williams. I was just trying to use a big stupid size lure to see if it would actually work. Maybe my next video up there I'll use Williams just for you. Thanks for watching
😣 promo sm
huh?
Trout magnets are my absolute favourite lure
Yes I really like them. I've been using them in the river lately and catching lots of rainbow trout. I run them under a super light indicator kind of like a fly. So they're just tickng off the bottom.
@@FishGawd they’re so good, it’s a shame they cost so much in Canada especially the floats. The floats are 14 dollars for a 4 pack compared to 2 dollars in America
I caught my biggest pike on a black and yellow Len Thompson spoon which I bought on sale for $3.
Good old Lenny. If you're ever in the LaComb area. They have the world's biggest spoon on display right next to their lake and if you ask nicely the owner Christina will give you a tour of the factory. They are really great people and they make a great product. I've had lots of knock offs but I don't know what it is I catch more on the real Len Thompson's.
@@FishGawd Good to know, thanks!
That look so good , I just got a old boat and I hv to do the same repair I would do the same thing u did thanks for the information 😊
I would just recommend drilling smaller holes so you leave more wood. This literally lasted me four seasons and I nailed quite a few gravel bars. I recently just gave away the boat but it was not because the transom was soft. It's because I got a bigger one.
What brand of rod is that ??
You know what. I'm not sure. It was a wonderful gift and some dickhead broke into my car and stole my Rod and my bag. I can't remember the brand but geez that I like it. I'm not even sure what subscriber I got it from so I don't even know who to ask
Cant be giving away our secrets man. We went for a 6 day long fishing trip up in Canada this year, and caught 1300 fish. All on the 5 of diamonds. Best lure of all time. Caught smallies, Largies, perch, walleye, pike, muskie, and I even caught a catfish on one. I cannot stress this enough... BEST LURE OF ALL TIME
Dude 100%. I find most fishing lures are there to catch fisherman. My grandpa used to say just stick with the classics. I use the chartreuse or yellow five diamonds and I also really like the red devil but the reversed colors. White with a red stripe. Those are my go twos no matter where I'm fishing. I'll try some fancy stuff but those are the ones that always catch the fish and almost every species. I've even caught mackerel in saltwater on Len Thompson's. Thanks for watching glad you had a awesome fishing trip.
Always fun on the Bow
So when am I going to get you into my drift boat and we can do a collaboration. I believe you got my number. [email protected]
Great video guys! We were just out here and it was fun to get some pike action on the savage gear baits. Lots of trout on a variety of baits, super aggressive there.
fantastic. Thanks for the tips and thanks for watching the video. See you on the water sometime I'm sure.
I usually put a piece of silicone tubing below nut in case I want to take my weight off bobber
