Thanks, very helpful. You bring out the Selmer-ness of the Selmer, which does not help the S-6's case.

Awesome. Except it's not a Stevie Wonder song. He has a song called, "the masquerade is over" and Benson sounds a bit like Stevie on his version so I can see where the confusion comes from

They are all great, each with their unique tone. 16m is fat and deep, the Couf more mellow and smooth, the Mk6 has a more direct and smooth tone, as always i hear Coltrane on a Mk6. All beautiful horns.

I definitely think the 16m sang YOUR notes and the others didn’t mesh with you as well. I have the same thing with the mark VI and the 10m. The 10m is just my horn. Can’t wait to get my hands on another some day. I, have a 16m now. I would love to hear you compare your playing on a mark VI and a 10m. Seriously man, it sounds like the Mark VI holds you back the EXACT same way it does me. Please oh please do a comparison for those two horns. If you haven’t spent much time on a 10m, I bet you’ll be surprisingly pleased with it. You sound good. But I really heard YOU from the 16m.

How do you get around the intonation on the old horns? Am using a Conn shooting star and no matter how much i practice it the low notes sound thin and buzzy and the intonation across the whole horn is super spotty

Michael, although the 16M sounds superb (of course you make it sound this way), I noticed that Selmer saxophones usually have more resonance. It's as if the instrument has a more open sound. What do you think? I've been playing the 16M so far, love it, and I am thinking about buying a Selmer (SA 80 series II), which as you know is not a cheep instrument. What do you think? Does the difference justify the investment?

Couf Superba - Sounds like you could blow it the easiest. You commanded the 16M very well - that takes work. The Mark V1 may need a brighter mouthpiece - sounds a bit dark like the older ones from the 50's?
