    Americans do not switch hands. We sit the utebsil we are not using down. Why hold a knife while eating rice and beans? Is it to intimidate the waiter? The fork has a scoop. It is patently obvious why it was designed that way. How do you even use a held upside down one?

    I’m never going to learn, I typically eat with my knife and fork regularly.

    Just a few points to add. Avoid waving your knife and fork when having a conversation. Also, when putting food in your mouth, your hand goes to mouth, not head to fork. Lift your arm off the table, rather than diving at your food! Thanks for trying to bring classy back.

    Also, no, you don't use the fork that way, food falls off and you have to dive to catch it.. British etiquette is NOT European etiquette. Lol As a Canadian fine dining server, now I have seen it all.

    Thank you!!! Every time something awkward happens in public with my crazy family, I get stared at and it’s really annoying and scary. I don’t go out as often because I’m scared of people staring at my family or who ever I’m with. So I really appreciate you posting this advice!

    It would nice if you had a plate with food in it: rice and saucy beans- Many Americans hold their forks and knives LIKE A DAGGER! UGH so embarrassing-

    Why would you learn to eat like a child? Pile all pieces on a fork? yeah not manners it’s just lazy

  • @cold485

    Lazy or efficient? Why go the long way? Why not make it even harder and and hold the fork and knife on one hand.

  • @bluedemon8486

    Y’all believe in manners? Nah, i feel like eating is the most important time of the day. Don’t be told how to eat. I chose not to push my chair in

  • @reneet5858
    @reneet5858Ай бұрын

    So then, somebody else, probably the person who clears the table, if you're not at home( at home you should clear your own dishes) will have to move all the chairs back into place before even clearing. Or, if someone else wants to leave the table they have to move your chair , AND their own chair, before they can get away from the table. How HARD is it to move your chair back in?

    This is something we all need to hear. Honestly, we all probably agree on most things, it's just that the media outlets and politicians are trying their best to divide us. If you disagree with someone on something, that's perfectly fine; you're not going to agree with anyone on every single matter.

    I've lived in America all my life and I've never ever seen anyone hold their fork in their off hand while using the knife, then switch back. Everyone I've ever known used the knife in their off hand always, so that the fork would stay in their dominant hand the whole time.

    Always bring a cross body bag that you can actually adjust the bag in front of your body breast level. No one is going into your bag let alone steal it from you. If you leave it in your cart a person can pretend to need something reach over the cart unzip your purse and grab your wallet and you'll probably not notice your wallet is gone until you get to check out....... Be smarter than the thief always be aware of your surroundings and who is around you. If your constantly looking around looking at and judging people a thief is going to walk away from you to look for easier prey. I was with my elderly mother when I saw a man leaning over her cart. I walk up behind him and holler in his ear WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING! HE JUMP SPUN AROUND SWEATING HIS ASS OFF. I was standing less then a foot away from him with a 6" blade knife in my hand. He was about to steal my mother's wallet. I told her to check her bag it was unzipped and her wallet was laying on the top of her bag. As we were close to check out I told the cashier to call the cops. The guy I told to interlace his fingers on top of his head and if he moved before the cops got there I would stab him in the heart. I touch his chest on his left side just under his nipple I then said just feeling so I land the blade between your ribs we Don't Want Bones Slowing Us Down. He of course turn ghostly white! He didn't even breath until the cops got there. He was arrested my hunting knife was perfectly legal to own and carry. I bet this punk thought of this incident every time he got the urge to steal from a little old lady especially if her very pissed off daughter knows what time it is! Would I have stabed the creep? Hell yes and because I had my favorite coat on and it would have been ruined I probably would have gutted him. Yuppers cut him from groin to sternum the same as I do deer! 🦌

    33 years old having grown up in New Zealand and Australia, I only just learnt the 'correct' ways to eat, and they make no fkn sense to me. 1. American way - why would you swap the fork to the other hand? It seems annoying when you could just keep it in the same hand! 2. The British way - you're piling the food onto the fork while the concave is upsidedown. It's going to fall off. Turn it over! 3. Assuming she's right-handed and using the knife in her dominant hand. Why? Surely the fork is the primary utencil here. I am super uncoordinated using the fork in the other hand. IMO, the concave of the fork has the added benefit of spoon-like abilities, and the dominant hand should be using the primary utencil, the fork. All this proper ettiquette seems like nothing but pure wank.
