  Thank you, this one is actually the dark grey, it looks different on camera, I thought it would be a good contrast for the white feathers 😊

  Very interesting. What's the advantage of using pastelmat over everything else? Does it allow you to stack more layers compared to other papers?

  Thank you, yes I’ve never run out of layers with Pastelmat, but have with smooth papers. It also give a lovely soft finish and you can apply light over dark 😊

  Great tutorial, thanks. I’m about to transition to pastel pencils. My preferred method to outline has been the grid method with a proportional divider. I note all the difficulties people mention with gridding onto pastelmat. What do you think?

  Thank you so much. Yes I probably wouldn’t grid directly onto Pastelmat as it would be difficult to remove any marks.

  How do you keep pencils sharp?

  I use an M + R sharpener, but pastels do blunt it more quickly, I usually use some sandpaper to just keep the tip sharp for detail 😊

  Great vid Sam! I love my coloured pencils, but occasionally ‘dabble’ with paint, even tho I’m rubbish at painting, but I don’t care. I’m also an introvert & prefer to be alone ( apart from my other half)…….thank you for sharing x

  This is sort of my life right now-when the 2 older kiddos are off to school it’s my homemaking + creative time, except now I’ve got a 5mo old added to the mix, so my creative “schedule” is quite erratic. I’d definitely like to see more content like this. I’m inspired to build more consistency with my creative goals.

  Thank you so much for watching. wow yes having to work around nap times can be tricky, that's why I was drawn to coloured pencils as they don't take up much room, are mess free and don't require much setting up. I really enjoyed making this video, so I'm definitely going to be doing more, thank you for the support.

  Love this realistic video! Im a mom of a 9 year old, i draw and paint a lot but not when he is with me, then we colour or paint togheter but when he is a sleep or at school its me time!
