    I'm glad you found the video helpful. While the methods shown in the video should work for most types of cables, including a 170W laptop charger, If the cable is significantly damaged or the power requirements are high, it might be better to consider getting a new charger to avoid any risks. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask! I’ve also uploaded another video that might help with your repair. You can check it out here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eK12w9ZxYdavgdY.html

    I was replacing a really old lamp holder and I couldn't figure out which slot (conductor) was for the live wire and which one for the neutral wire. After some research, there is apparently an old British convention that the neutral slot will have some ridges in them. So the blue wire goes to the slot with ridges and brown wire goes to the slot that's smooth. I hope this tip comes in handy for someone 😊 If in doubt, call a professional!

    Don't use black tape at all. In the long term it all turns into a gummy sticky mess. Solder the wires. use heat shrink as shown. Cover it all with another thicker heat shrink tube (that you slipped on at start) instead of tape.

    Where would you get the isopropyl alcohol and do you need to dilute it?

  • @IdeaShip
    @IdeaShip4 ай бұрын

    You can easily purchase isopropyl alcohol from your local store or online retailers like Amazon. When cleaning your CPU fan, it's best to use isopropyl alcohol with a concentration of 90% or higher. There's no need to dilute it; using it straight from the bottle ensures effective cleaning without any compromise. Hope this helps!

    Where do you connect the earth wire?

  • @IdeaShip

    The number and placement of screws can vary depending on the design and manufacturer of the bulb holder. Some bulb holders don't have an earth connection, while others do. The holder shown in this video doesn't have an earth connection. I’ve also uploaded a video about how to replace a bulb holder that does have an earth connection. Haha I meant to post an update. It went very well! Now I'm at 50C idle, and hitting 70-80 degrees while playing. A massive improvement! This actually fixed an issue I had with Minecraft where the game would crash stating a memory allocation issue, but really it was just my CPU melting. @@andrewdinns1746

  • @DriftingDraftsman

    While doing this, I actually HAD to take my CPU and heatsink out of my case, so I could really mess around with it. Mine was so bad, that I literally was just pulling a CARPET of dust off my heatsink/fans. Be slow and careful though. @@andrewdinns1746

  • @DriftingDraftsman
    @DriftingDraftsman5 ай бұрын

    @@andrewdinns1746 Aw shit brother I forgot to leave a response! For anyone else wondering. It went great, but be careful. I ended up having to use a mechanical pencil of .9mm diameter lead. (Be VERY gentle and don't use lead if you have other options), you can create lead powder if you rub pieces too hard, try to only touch the dust. Again be very careful, for me it was easy to get what I needed done because my cpu fan and heatsink was just absolutely CAKED with dust. games would randomly shut off an my pc would crash while overheating. This brought my temp down to about 75c while gaming.

    I wouldnt clean the heatsink with water, as the blade might get corroded on the inside... as for thermal paste application, you were using a sharp object to spread the thermal paste, which could damage the surface of the cpu... it is only a surface damage, but it could affect heat transfer... as for the technique of spreading the thermal paste, you are introducing a lot of air which act as insulation, not good... the right way to do it is by using a spatulla
