I have switched from Polaroid to Instax. MiNT cameras are great, and there are more and more other options on the market, such as NONS, various film backs. You can get great colors if you have manual control and know how to work Instax film best. You can get great results with Polaroid, and the colors can be amazing. Personally, I just find it too unreliable and expensive

Thanks : From an image quality point of view, numerous Lab tests and professional opinions say that the Medium format Fuji has better IQ than the top Leica. The interesting point here is that the 50S ii is not new. (Sept 2021) The camera , uses an older CMOS sensor. BUT, size of sensor and half the pixel density makes up for it. I rented one for a week-end and was blown away by simple JPEGS right out of the cam. Nothing against the Leica, it is a classic work of art. But for me, superior image quality, more features, and a very affordable price --- well I agree with Double Negative. P.S. I don't want to sound like a fan boy, but the GFX Fuji Primes are crazy good.

Sold my three SX70 cameras a year ago and got the instax wide camera and never looked back. I hate polaroid, yes I said it! It's 8 pieces of film you are rolling the dice if you got a decent pack. I spent a gazillion dollars having the sx70 cameras refurbished, but with crappy polaroid film it didn't matter. Ah yes… The Block. Sigh. I’ve had them in virtually every project I’ve done in 50+ years of photography. (I can’t think of one I didn’t, but with many projects stretched out over 5+ decades, I’m going to cut me a bit o’ slack 😂.) Many times I’ve done as you’re doing - keep working. A few times, I’ve just put it to the side for a while and come back to it later. Both approaches have worked, though you’re committed to the “one a day” aspect of this particular project. 👍🏼 ❤ the “… I don’t care…” comment re the yashica beer shot! 😂 And I agree: the more weird/different/bizarre the Polaroids are, the better I like them. When I look at them and “…what is THAT?!?” well, that’s a keeper! I’m booking a flight right now to the most humid place I can find with boxes of Polaroid film and my I-2!!! Great video. 👍🏼👍🏼

All it choices when it comes to making a photograph are in service the photograph. Not to showcase some new thing. Nothing wrong with identifying what your needs/preferences are in cameras, and other aspects of life. Good that you found a tool that addresses them! I often think of writers. Some authors prefer to write long hand, others need to pound out their work on typewriters, others dictate on tape, or make use of word processors on computers. Their choice of tools is extremely important - to them. They find some tool and process that allows the words to flow in a way that works for them. The writer is often committed to their way of working. As for those who read their work, the readers are typically completely clueless as to the writer’s chosen process. It’s immaterial to the reader. They just want the words to entertain, or educate, or explain, or enlighten, or transport them to a different reality, or… Same with photographers.
