  (Four years later)...just ran across this, nice review. The Long Walk has been a favorite since I first read it in 1985 in its original original paperback edition: I found used copies of Rage, The Running Man and this right as the news was breaking; it quickly became an absolute favorite and currently sits at #5 (out of 68 read) on my favorites list. Everything you said is spot on, couldn't add to it if I tried. Oh...you probably already know but the movie is finally being done, they've got a director and much of the cast signed...fingers crossed they do this wonderfully sad, tense book justice.

  Unfortunately, the movie is terrible. DARK EYES. Recommend THE FOG, THE DARK, LAIR (more rats) and DOMAIN (rats on a grand, apocalyptic scale!).

  No real animals where hurt during the writing of this book. Love love loved this book. Authors want their books to be memorable. And the thing with the dog helps that for me.

  I'm a huge herbert Fan, The ghosts of sleath was for me his best book, it was a follow on from the haunting. The ghosts of sleath involes a mass haunting in a small villiage in the chiltion hills, which are to the north west of london. Can I ask you if you read indy horror, as i'm am an indy writer, who horror is very much herbert inspired.

  I've never done something like this but I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. I got an somewhat interrupted 20 pages down and I'm nearly done with The Abbey by Chris Culver. It has been quite a fun ride for anyone interested in a good murder mystery.

  Well that makes sense.. i don't like to go see other countries. Why would someone who lives in the most beautiful place want to go see a down graded version. I went overseas once and was was not amused.. so thats why I don't read either...

  I haven’t actually read this book, I think I’m going to finally crack down this Christmastime and I know it’s not quite December yet but, I think since I saw the audiobook that I’m listening to is about 19 hours and 41 minutes long I think I’m going to crack open the audiobook and start listening to it a few days early so, I can fit in a few more Christmas themed horror books I want to read/listen to this December but yeah, I listened to a sample of the audiobook and it seems interesting to me. Honestly, just from the name alone that’s a play on Nosferatu I had a feeling it would be a vampire story in some way, but I had no idea it would be so messed up however, knowing it was the son of Stephen King writing this book I guess I should’ve expected the villain to be quite messed up right???? So I guess that’s my fault for not expecting the worst when it comes to the villain considering who the author’s father is. 😂

  My favorite dinosaur is parasaurolophus. I love the books Jurassic Park and the sequel Lost World. The second movie falls flat next to the book. Dr. Malcolm is a great character!
