How do we check concentration of yeast using spectrophotometer?
@thebluebeyond23292 жыл бұрын
You can use the standard curve drawn in excel preferably to find the concentration. The standard curve might be a linear curve (straight line) or something else depending on the known solutions absorbences vs the final concentrations. On excel you can add a trend line but its highly not necessary. Knowing the absorbance of the yeast, you can find the concentration of the yeast by using the "TREND()" function in excel. On the cell where you will calculate the concentration of the yeast. Type in =TREND(select the all independent variable values; select the all dependent values ; and select the cell with the absorbance of the yeast) Press enter. Excel would give you the answer to the concentration.

Why was the perithecium with the mitotic cross over event 7:20 ignored? Seems like the most interesting sample to me.

This video can be used as a way to "flip" the laboratory exercise To Build an Ecosystem: An Introductory Lab for Environmental Science & Biology Students by Daniel Hudon and John R. Finery in The American Biology Teacher (2013, Vol. 75 No. 3, pp. 186-192) DOI: 10.1525/abt.2013.75.3.7. It can be accessed at abt.ucpress.edu/content/75/3/186. The Flipped Lab Video on using the spectrophotometer gives an introduction to use of a key piece of equipment needed for this study.
