Have a single post in ground at my home shop..vintage 1996..model # FS.10. GLOBE..has fiberglass casing..love it..came out of dad's old service station..in 1999.when he retired.. I had the guys who were doing the removal ,do the reinstall..for 500 bucks on the side..used copper tubing heavytype..air line underground to the lift..no rust out..in piping..

99% have leaks? C'mon. That sounds like you might be finding leaks not there.

anthony ... these numbers are skewed because most people don't call for a removal unless there's already a problem. IOW, 99% of THEIR jobs may be leaking but the percentage is much lower overall. When I was doing this years ago I would guess maybe 10 - 20% were leakers.... and a good portion of those had water leaking into the top of the tank and no oil leaks below the tank. People jump on this real quick when the heat goes off because there's water in the tank.

You work too cheap. OTOH, we've all done stuff like this in our lifetime. Back when oil was well over $3 a gallon I was called to do a favor and "take it away" for like 175 gallons of heating oil so someone else could dispose of the tank. What a score, right? Borrow a truck, find the barrels, cobble up a pump and hoses, then spend several hours pumping and another hour shuffling the truck from A to B to C location. Another 2 hours pumping off and another hour cleaning up plus returning the truck. A month later I had to borrow the pump again to finish transferring the the last barrel. I also had a few gallons of sludge to get rid of when it was all over. All total it was near 12 hours of my sweat (and oil stink) to help a buddy out. Yeah, it didn't cost me much besides my time, but my regular job paid $40 an hour and here i was working for the same pay on a weekend... and it was a dirty job too boot.

Lauri ... I'm up in CT and for years we joked that Love Canal was where we sent our contaminated soil after a tank job.

Out of the blue I called from Oregon, was able to get a complete education on every part of the process and an estimate below all others. Very impressive.

This was a job well done! We tank Mr. David Streich, and his wonderful team at Chicago Tank Removal, for performing a seemingly difficult job at a great cost. This was a necessary step in the process of building our beautiful house of worship. We also thank the Town of Cicero's Mr. David Mavrinac for his input and support.

We made a seemingly complex and costly Underground Storage Tank & Environmental hurdle for Segio Nava and his Sonido de Albanza Church in Cicero, IL a simple and reasonably priced job that has enabled the congregation to move forward with a NEW place of worship and fellowship.
