I have learned a lot from your videos. You guys are amazing at what you do. I need to find someone in the Fresno, CA area who can do this work. I am trying to get my 1960 build house plastered inside after damage caused by a flood. We have three rooms down to the studs that I want to restore. The walls inside are about 1/2" plaster on gypsum lath. The finished coat is a skip trowel or knockdown type finish with porous texture that is color tinted.. Can you show how some of these different textures were created on interior plaster? What materials were used back then in central California? After many coats of paint, it is mostly smooth now, but we still have rooms without paint with the original plaster texture. I want to try to reproduce it if possible.
i have 1950's house. a car hit it and knocked the stucco siding off a 2x4' area the existing stucco siding looks like basic cement with a small amount of sand. should repair it with rapid set stucco patch or rapid set cement patcher? i put some diamond mesh over the area.
Dude i love the energy! Subbed and im glad your teaching and showing people how to be better Craftsman.

Can a long float be used with that material if I do want nice flat walls?
@@contentment164 Of course in can be used, with a skilled applicator they can use a shoe, as long as it has a wooden sole. 😉
I wish i could see the skip trowel texture.
@@turboflush Evening Flush Dude. Ask and ye shall receive. Type in “ Skip Trowel stucco Finish” 😉
I usually pre cover all the mesh and fill corner beads first, then coat accordingly. Sometimes, the tape will come through the coating. And it drives me nuts! Do you have trouble with the mesh coming through or giving trouble in areas that are troublesome? Hmmmm? Is that blue board like drywall? Are the joints beveled, or flat? Ha,ha,I don't know, I'm just talkin..😂 Have a great day, Mr G 😊
@@petekobraoutdoors7324 Good evening Peter my fellow plasterer. It’s just drywall with a skin engineered to accept lime plaster. We applied a bonding agent over it anyway as if it were regular drywall.
Plaster is a lot more cleaner and dust free. If you have bad allergies to dust paint or anything of that nature, then plaster will be the best for your ceilings and walls. A few years ago I did a small bungalow with the Diamond coat finish plaster that they left unpainted. I troweled it to a marble finish that had a unique look. Customer care is #1,if there happy so am I. Have a great day, Mr G 😀
@@petekobraoutdoors7324 Howdy Peter, I agree, my living space has all lime plastered walls.
Isn't it nice being thin and tall and in shape? Oh ya! Let the mud fly! Making it look easy makes everyone think they can do it? Be aware of Master crafter at work! Have a great day, fellow Plasterer! 😊

thinking why is that plaster dressed like a pirate
@@meph3676 I am a pirate lost in these modern times. 😉
I have to patch a 1ft square opening where they used a diamond cutoff wheel to cut through the stucco and wire lath, so nothing to tie into. I'm thinking about jamming the new wire lath in above the hole then using your wire method and just hold it down while applying the mud with a sloppy first coat. Time is not an issue. Any problem with that?
Luke Skywalker really knows his plaster.
@@flavorwise3511 I using the force, it’s like cheating.
If you take it off and the lath is rusted, do you have to keep breaking till you see it isn't? Or is it best not to disturb parts of the wall that have not buckled?
@@WolfNRaven Howdy Wolf Dude, that’s a question we have to decide on sometimes. We want to break out enough to correct any problems, but sometimes we’re handcuffed by owners or even GC’s who say, stop there. We’re only as good as what we have to work with.

Concrete will corrode and destroy that metal flashing. Concrete is very alkaline. Need something between the concrete and the flashing.

Kirk do you use plaster of paris" for interior plastering?? If not what product do you use and can you find it without a commercial account??? Thanks, great videos.
@@treverwhoever6733 No, Plaster of Paris is great for setting bones as in cast’s. But I’ve never had a need for it. You can buy a joint compound suitable for your skill level like 20, 40, 60 and so on at Lowe’s or any H D hardware store. If you want real plaster instead of gypsum’s with accelerators you’d have to google, “plastering yards near me” like Westside building materials where you can buy usg’s Diamond lime plaster.
