Nice catch for the day and anothe4 awesome vidio. Ty from Oregon, US. Mike
Great catch! How does the taste compare to ordinary lobster?
Tastes nothing like lobster or crab
I bet the spider crabs I’ve got no value
They are not expensive but taste damn good
Have you got the commercial license?
yes
Too many spiders, the demand has gone down
Are you in Guernsey?
yes
Thanks for the update Guys! It did look a bit choppy out there, but a nice haul of Rebecca's favourite Spiders. Still on catch up! Caught up with this one, early lunch, plants to pot up and some woodwork to do with my small Bandsaw. Busy busy! Stay safe & well. 🎣🎣👍👍
You are doing what other people can only dream about
Well, this is going to be this afternoon's viewing!
Do spiders pinch or crush as bad as the other crustations or are they a bit safer to handle?
The big ones can really hurt but not as dangerous as a large brown crab
Rebecca's pot again sounds like mine and yours ,but a good day Trojs . Well done you two 😊😊😊
Just banter :)
You stated a few days ago that you do not notch berried hens as there is a larger size allowance, but do you return a berried hen or do you take as normal.
If the eggs are developed we release them If undeveloped we decide on that day bearing in mind legally we could take them all.
How safe is your store pots roger brooke
Pretty safe as they are kept with others. Many eyes are watching
Mill pond😂
That’s Rebeccas❤
Love the under water footage!
Do you sell your catch?
Eat a lot of it but also have a licence
Here we go again best program yet like watching you two ace ❤
Troj I’m back in guernsey for the next few days. Desperate for a bass or mackerel. Where’s the best place and when!? Help!
Fort Doyle low tide for mackerel 😊
Bass have been around the N NW of the island recently but they have been gorging themselves on small sandeel and white bait. Mackerel as Ingloriousfishing said Fort Doyle probably your best bet, I have seen very little of either out in the boat at the moment
@@IngloriousFishingright I’m going tomorrow! Cheers Inglorious. Desperate for some fish while I’m home for the week
@@TrojwatermanI’ve been using sinking Sandeel lures and some subsurface lures at grande rocques and at fort Doyle but no luck. Will keep at it!
Richmond corner at Vazon used to be good at this time of year for bass low tide up
I would love to do this. I’ve just got my lobster permit and a pot, I just put it out in the rock pools at low tide, I’ve had a couple of decent lobsters. I didn’t even know you could get crayfish like that in the sea
Its surprising what you can catch in a pot from the shore These crays are out there but they live in deeper water most of the time.
@@Trojwaterman I would love to get a little boat and do what you do
had a request for a vid how to set up that lobster tank maybe when you cant go out on boat you could do a vid about that and how to set it up please
I will probably do an up-to-date one when I get a bit of time its bit awkward at the moment. I do have this older video on it which may be of use kzread.info/dash/bejne/gqN-j5mAitLXZc4.html
Great video guys.. I don't know if you guys do or not. Maybe you know this maybe you don't. I use to catch shrimp by the netfulls. As much as I want. What I used to do is find dry spot preferably a dock rock outcropping where the water came right up to it. What I would do then is put a lantern out over the water. Of course you do this at night. The light draws the them in and then you will see all their eyes. But the main thing is the light will attract them and big ones too. Never even have to step into the water. In just a few hours I would fill a live bait tank up with them. Just a tip in case you don't know about it. Thanks for the video...thanks never knew anyone to shrimp the way you folks do...Very nice.
Yes we go at night sometimes the eyes glow at night. It was just better to go in the day for the video :)
Doesn't matter what colour your pots are, they're colourblind
Great catch
Would like to see how you cook the crayfish
I would have let the giant go and kept the just over legal, there reason why there are so few giants, is because they get removed and eaten, so only the smaller males get to breed, losing the giant gene.
Its because all the small ones are taken that we see fewer big ones not the genes. They can grow a lot bigger than this. That's why we put the smaller legal ones back to give them a chance to grow.
I did nt realize you have these crayfish in those waters!
We used to have many more a long time ago but with modern fishing and diving they almost disappeared. They brought in laws no diving and no netting for them, pots only and they are very slowly making a comeback.
Hyggelig Nice 👍🏿
Great update thanks guys! Lovely haul of Shellfish & Fish, especially those Pollack. Nice underwater footage too. Looks like your weather has been much the same as ours - glorious sunshine, then piddling down! Great to see that Octopus, and good to see it go back. Lots going on here so a bit behind with KZread again - must try harder! Stay safe & well. 👍👍
Your behind on videos but you have some great ones to look forward to 😁
At least climate change is working out for someone, I would start researching 'tropical species and how to catch them'!
I'm already on it, catching bream species, bonito, trigger fish 😄
Very good video! Do you ever give little snacks to the seagulls that congregate on & around your boat?
Occasionally but they also get some extra food when gutting the fish.
@@Trojwaterman ~ I noticed the hopeful look on that seagulls face. Thanks for responding.
i have named your hood ornament on your boat Marcellus Gull lol
How come your wife does all the work and you give the orders.
Rebecca is not my wife she comes out because she wants to She prefers to pull the crab pots but does not want to drive the boat because of the minefield of rocks out there. I'm the one with the experience out there that has to keep the boat safe and anyone on it. Rebecca does what she wants to do and we work as a team that's why we get on so well and have a great laugh every day.
What would you both prefer to eat , Crayfish, lobster, brown crab or spider?
We both would probably go with spider crab but i also like lobster from time to time.
What bait did u use to catch the 3 crayfish, unreal fishing that, even if u never catch another crayfish, to see 3 in one pot, that u built yourself, must be very satisfying
Not sure this day but we usually use the head an frames from mackerel bass and pollack.
Havent seen crayfish for a while. However, I left the island some time ago ... But were they not protected / catching restricted for some time?
They are only allowed to be taken from pots no diving or netting for them.
well we call the crayfish in California spiny Lobster and they're good especially when you get them at that size. I prefer a 3 lb or 4 lb Lobster any day with one and a half or two pounder and it's not mature enough the meat tastes better on a little bit older Lobster I think and I'm the type of person that likes to eat the entire Lobster from head to tail same thing with crabs I like you know the whole experience and those were beautiful crabs
Nice spider craps and a bonus of crayfish as well you two will be eating well tonight full tummies 😅😅 well done Trojs and Rebecca
Well done mate nice
Pleased to see some this early
@@Trojwaterman I’m still yet to get one let alone 3 in one pot lol
What a catch!
Do spiders have any power in there claws ?
The big ones do but nothing like the brown crab
Great catch, Troj
@7:33 sea bird get to see all the real live action before the edited video gets released on you tube. ✌💘❤ I would say you are on the best secret place for large lobsters. 💯
Often its being in the right place at the right time 😁
Wow nice catch!

Wow that's a giant lobster 🦞...dear god.......wow again...great show guys. From meteorite mac channel Derbyshire 👍
A feast fìt for a king enjoy ttfn
bravo a vous superbe peche :::::::!👍👍👍👍
