    Which would you recommend, ER6F or an XJ6 for quite a tall rider at 6'1? Used to driving the mt-07.

  • @blauschlumpf5778
    @blauschlumpf57782 ай бұрын

    ER6F has a higher seat height, much better for your height. I had an XJ6 Diversion and I am 6'0. I had issues with wind blowing right into my face on the xj6 on highways. Also the 4 cylinder of the XJ6 really motivates you to rev it out and get into high speeds dangerously fast. Besides that the sound is non existent until you get an aftermarket exhaust. The clutch feel is so smooth tho, its a dream. I drove the ER6N in driving school. The stock exhaust note ist better than the one of the xj6. Also the engine is more relaxed IMO. The clutch is a bit difficult at low rpm So if you are looking for a more relaxed ride go for the er6, if your aim is to go fast and you like high pitched screaming 4 cylinder engines ( I started to hate the sound) then go with the xj6.

    The biggest let down of this bike is the suspension its just too horrible on our roads in blighty, I need to think about changing the rear shock. Its rock hard and the buke judders too much over some of the roads I travel down. it has a slight tendency to just suddenly drop when exiting a side road slowly, almost caught me out, but now Im use to it. The gear shift when changing down feels very wooden, again Im use to that sensation. The ergonomics of the gear shift and the rear brake lever is much to be desired, They seem too far inboard and don't lend themselves to be in an ideal position. I find the mirrors to be good, As for bar end mirrors.. No thanks. The exhaust is loud enough for me. Don't want anything more noisier. On cold start ups the cam chain rattles for a few minutes then quietens down. The silly dip stick should of been relegated to the past. Why not a sight glass so much easier. Apart from those real world criticisms, the bike is fun to ride and so far its been reliable, so no complaints there.

    From Canada, thanks. This bike is on the shortlist as replacement for my 1200GS. One big reservation is the reported vibrations at, say “elevated” speeds. Is constant cruising at 130 - 135 kmph an issue?

  • @briangc1972
    @briangc19725 ай бұрын

    I test rode one today and the bike was exceptionally smooth at 70 mph. I only reached 85 mph for a short burst due to traffic, but the engine at all RPMs and speeds was vibration free. I ran it in 2 and and 3rd gear at 6000 RPMs for a mile or so, again, no vibration to speak of. Also, heat management was vastly improved and is a non issue for me. I'm currently looking at selling or trading a 2022 Diavel 1260s to offset this new bike.

  • @PovilasPanavas

    Keep in mind that Aragon edition is 2023 engine. In theory those vibrate a bit more. But on lower RPMs I don't think it's an issue at all. Yes you can feel some on your feet etc, but GT model are basically vibration free both 2023 and 2024. Rally Pro is a bit different. People say it's either due to a bit different geometry, but most people say it's about crash bars. If one was to remove crash bars or replace them with other brands, it solves 90% of vibrations. I tested 2024 GT and Rally for 1.5h each, with just 10 min break. Rally had not only standard skidplae and engine guards, but also the top tank crash bars. I could feel there were more vibrations. It also had accessory foot-pegs, thus no rubber inserts. After 1.5 ride on highway 70-80 mph, my left leg got numb. 2023 model (all special editions are 2023 models) on high revs vibrations will be felt. In footpegs, haddlebars and even on the seat even for GT model.

    @@PovilasPanavas My experience in my test rides was completely different in regards to vibrations. Even the salesman could feel the 2024 106hp engine I rode yesterday had a lot more vibration than the 2023 95hp model I rode immediately after. The 2024 vibrations were felt from the foot pegs on up, very buzzy, like my smart phone buzz on vibrate mode, but much more so. The vibrations on the 2023 I rode were more like transmission gears with rough edges, very subtle though, accompanied by gear noises. I had test ridden a different 2024 Rally Aragon the day before and it had zero vibrations, it was a 95hp engine. Interesting findings. I would advise people to test ride multiple bikes from multiple dealers if possible, the vibration issues are subjective and possibly linked to the frames, crash bars, and luck of the draw as far as assembly goes.

    @@PovilasPanavas I did not redline any other them because they were not mine and they all have under 4 miles on them. The 2023 engine all vibrated less than the 2024 engines that I tested. Even the salesman noticed that. RPM range was 2500 to 4500. The 2024 GT was unbearable hot on my left knee. I am an HVAC contractor, I work in the Arizona desert all summer long, heat does not bother me like it does most people. If the heat was unbearable to me on a 70˚F day, Triumph is going to have a lot of unsold 2024 models next year. 5 minutes after the test ride, my jean pant leg still felt like it had just come out of the clothes dryer.

    @c1972 your information is incorrect and doesn't take into account couple of things. All the new 2024 generation Tiger 900 bikes has the same power and it's 106.5hp (108 PS) Previous generation was indeed 93hp for all the Tiger 900 bikes (as per your message).. All the special editions are 2023 models. When I wrote the comment I was comparing 2023 GT Pro vs 2023 Aragon edition. Thus, it was identical power of 93hp. If you buy now Aragon or other edition, you buying it in 2024 doesn't magically makes it into 2024 model. All the special editions are 2023 models. People can buy them in 2024 with discounts. P.S. finally, my comment was written when 2024 was not even available to buy yet, but it was known that new generation will have more power, though surely not your claimed 115hp, but 106.5hp

  • @briangc1972
    @briangc19725 ай бұрын

    @@PovilasPanavas I have test ridden both 2023 and 2024 models this week. The hp is different depending on the model. The exhaust header is different (long tube design)for the 106hp engine than for the 93hp engine (3 in 1 shorty header). 2024 GT Pro models are 106hp while the 2024 Rally Aragon is 93 hp and has the 3 in 1 shorty header; at least here in the USA. The 106 hp engine puts out a lot more heat on the left side of the engine and actually was burning hot (ambient of 73˚F). Test riding a 93hp model right after was markedly better, it was just warm in the same spot vs burning with the 106 hp engine. That heat issue is going to hurt sales. Performance wise, up to 7500 RPM both felt the same, no noticeable difference in acceleration. The Rally Pro and the Rally Aragon have far superior suspension on roads that are less than perfect. Even in just normal minor road imperfections the Showa forks are far superior.

  • @PovilasPanavas
    @PovilasPanavas5 ай бұрын

    @c1972 it's not 2024 model. There are no special editions of 2024 model. All special editions were released last year. I'm not arguing you that horse power is different between 2023 and 2024 models. I'm saying you're comparing old models which are sold today with new models which are also sold today while labeling both of them as 2024 models which is simply not truth. If a model is released in 2023 it makes it 2023 model. If a model is first available to buy in 2024 it makes it 2024 model. All Special Editions were available since mid of 2023. They are now selling them at discount and trying to get rid of them. Another example: the new 2024 models with 106hp will be sold next year. It will still be 2024-2025 model. It will not become 2025 model, because it will still be the same generation. What I call 2023 is the 2020-2023 generation. P.S. I'm sad to hear that heat is much worse on 2024 models since I ordered 2024 :( But I also didn't notice any warmth from 2023 when I test road it a few months back. While 2024 even at 10C was warm around knees. P.S.S I also went with Rally Pro due to nicer suspension which you also noticed.

    @@PovilasPanavas The 2024 units I rode were a mixed bag of 95hp and 106 hp, it could be a US market thing vs your home country. I do know they had the 3in 1 shorty headers on some models and the long tube headers on others. The 3 in 1 shorty headers were on the 95hp engines and the long tube headers were on the 106 hp engines. The GT models were noticeably hotter running than the 95hp engines in the Rally Pro and the Rally Aragon I rode. One dealer had a Rally Pro with the 106hp engine and another dealer had a Rally Pro with the 95 hp engine. Suspension was the same. I would caution everyone to test ride the actual bike before purchase due to the heat issue. My left knee was very uncomfortably hot, felt like a hair dryer on it's hottest setting blowing directly on my knee. Was definitely a deal breaker. I don't understand how Triumph could let that pass through development that way.
