    Great video. How do I get the array action to link to the rotation after rotation? Lets say I have inserted a block, rotated it to the correct orientation then I want to apply the array at that rotation. Hope that makes sense.

  • @DigitalDraftingSystems
    @DigitalDraftingSystems6 күн бұрын

    Thank you! When inserting a block, you can type “R” to rotate it before placing it. Then, your array will be in the same rotation. You can also edit the block and associate a Rotate Action with a Rotate Parameter, the object(s), and the other parameters associated with the array.

    If a PDF has been digitally signed with “Document Certification”, its pages can’t be rotated. Also, some PDFs have security permissions that restrict “assembling” the document. This can be confirmed by selecting the “Document” drop-down and selecting “Security”. Exporting the document’s pages could create a new copy without security permissions.

    Hi Ari, my 1st question is that how to change the unit column in Legend into sq ft, i.e. if you measure the wall in lineal length in ft, added wall height in ft, then if you toggle the wall area column, the legend only shows area quantity without the unit in sq ft. Could I change unit to sq ft in the unit column? It is somewhat misleading because the wall height could vary, and lineal measurement of wall may not be accurate enough. 2. I noticed your last column is in $, since I can't see your markup list in this video, is it a custom column where you had unit rate in $? Thank you!

  • @DigitalDraftingSystems
    @DigitalDraftingSystems8 күн бұрын

    The unit column’s data can only be changed if the markup’s units are changed. This can be done by selecting the markup, selecting the Measurements panel (It looks like a ruler), and changing the “Area” (Or whichever measurement’s unit you need to change) to something else. The Legend will automatically update with new unit info. We created Custom Columns for Quantity Takeoffs and Cost Analysis. We added these custom columns to our Legend, and they were initially created in the Markups List. Here’s a tutorial that demonstrates how we created them: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZZ9klduEfby9gKg.htmlsi=PxTrSgPWqjjKKdXr

    @@DigitalDraftingSystems The column unit in my markup list is in line with my measurement which is Polylength, I have the correct Area unit in sf, since I set the depth manually, the depth times the lineal measure gives me area in sf., but the unit column is the unit of Polylength, which is set to be ft. I have the correct units in comments column, it's not the issue of unit conversion, it is not having the final wall are unit in my legend, it only gives your default Polylength unit which you set in under the 'ruler' icon to be ft or m. Unlike measuring a floor area, if I use area measurement in plan-view, it gives area unit, which is what we want. I didn't use elevation view to do my markups for wall area, I use line measurement in plan-view for wall first and add wall height, but unit should be sq in, sf, sq cm, sq mm, ac, ha, etc. What I'd like to see is having an area unit in the legend area under unit column if I started with length unit by Polylength measurement. If I want to know the volume for concrete foundation, I will start with area measurement, maybe in sf, then add the depth in ft, Bluebeam works out the volume, but the unit column is sf, but I'd like to see cubic ft, is there any way to achieve that, thank you!

    HOW did you create the custom markup summarising the concrete area?

  • @DigitalDraftingSystems
    @DigitalDraftingSystems8 күн бұрын

    We created the custom “Concrete Area” markup by creating an “Area”, opening the “Properties” panel, and selecting “Edit” next to “Show Caption”. You can turn on many captions, including “Label”. Then, in the “Label” section near the top of “Properties”, you can type any text you want. It will display itself on the PDF after you select a blank section of the PDF or if you select another section, such as “Subject”. We created a tutorial for this around a year ago: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eXZhq6aQid2tY6w.htmlsi=ftPe_ohPdwunjh6Y If you navigate to 7:18 in the video, you’ll find the section where we demonstrate how to create a customized area markup.

    Do we have to set the workflow by choosing somewhere whether the project has live linking or shared linking or shared and consumed linking methodology? Or is automatically determined when model coordination is turned on?

  • @DigitalDraftingSystems
    @DigitalDraftingSystems8 күн бұрын

    Hello. The Shared, Consumed and Live linking is all determined based on how the files are linked to and what workflows you follow when going about the project process (sharing, consuming, etc.). This should all be covered in the Docs and Design videos in this same playlist. From there, you can set whatever folder you choose to be your Model Coordination space and any project in that folder will be clashed.

    Can I copy cutout or duplicate? If I copy and paste cutout, it pastes the area as well. In my case Area is a facade and I have windows as cutouts, lots of windows, so currently I manually draw every window cutout...

  • @DigitalDraftingSystems
    @DigitalDraftingSystemsАй бұрын

    Yes, Polygon and Ellipse Cutouts can be copied and pasted onto other parts of the same area and onto different areas. We can right-click on the center or edge of the Cutout, and the right-click menu should show “Delete Cutout” if done on the Cutout and not the Area itself. You can then mouse-over an area, right-click, and select “Paste” from the generic right-click menu. We’re using Revu 21.1, but this has been available since Revu 2017. Here’s a link to the “Release Notes” for Revu: support.bluebeam.com/articles/release-notes-bluebeam-revu/, and here’s the section that talks about how Cutouts were improved: “Along with the new ellipse cutout option, cutouts can now be copied and pasted within Area and Volume measurements. Additionally, the polygon cutout can cut through an edge of an Area or Volume measurement, reforming the overall boundary of the measurement. Automatically fill cutouts by selecting an area or volume measurement and clicking inside the cutout region. Hold the SHIFT key to fill all remaining unfilled cutouts.

    GREAT VIDEO !! How do you (in family change the line colour) - would like to save different line types like hot, cold, gas and drainage as sperate families without overriding graphics the whole time

  • @DigitalDraftingSystems
    @DigitalDraftingSystems2 ай бұрын

    Thank you! To solve this, you'll likely need to set up a graphics override for the specific line type you're working with. Check the filters first to see which line types are involved. For each line type, you'll need to create a separate line type family. Once that’s done, you can either apply a color override to each one, or you could just create the line types in the color you want right from the start. This way, you can save them as distinct line types, making things a bit simpler and clearer.

    How to measure in mm or m?

  • @DigitalDraftingSystems
    @DigitalDraftingSystems2 ай бұрын

    While we can set our page’s scale to “cm” or “mm”, along with “m” and “km”, this won’t change each subsequent measurement, and while we can also change each measurement’s units, this will be reverted for new measurements after the first one. This can be fixed by right-clicking on a measurement set to metric units and selecting “Set as Default”. This will need to be done for all measurements and only affects our shortcuts. We can also save these measurements to our Tool Chest and retain our metric units. If you want to exclusively measure in metric with all programs, including Bluebeam Revu, you’ll want to change your Windows settings by selecting the “Start” menu, selecting “Settings”, and searching for “Measure”. The setting labeled, “Change the way measurements are displayed” should pop up, and selecting this text will lead you to the “Region” dialogue. After selecting “Additional settings”, we can change the “Measurement system” from “U.S.” to “Metric”.

    An existing block on a sheet won’t update if you add/change an attribute to the block file itself. You’ll want to place a new block down after updating it. If this isn’t the issue, then you’ll want to ensure that your attribute isn’t “Invisible”. This can be checked when editing the block in the “Block Editor”, selecting the attribute, opening Properties, and scrolling down to see if certain “Misc” settings say “Yes” or “No”, including Invisible.

If you want to change multiple existing attributes, you can select the blocks with the attributes and open the “Properties” panel (If it’s not already open, you can right-click on one of the blocks and select “Properties”). A PDF created in Bluebeam Revu can be opened in other PDF programs like Adobe Acrobat Reader with editable markups, measurements, etc. There’s no need to use the “Export” feature. Nevertheless, if you use the “Archive as PDF/A” option and change the “Save as type:” to “PDF Files”, you can essentially create a “copy” of your PDF. However, this is much more easily accomplished by simply using “Save As” within Revu. Note: Some markups created in Bluebeam Revu (Cloud+, Typewriter, etc.) may not be compatible with other PDF programs since those programs don’t have the same markup tool(s).

After placing the stamp on all pages in the same spot, you can select all 450+ stamps in the Markups List by opening the list, selecting one stamp on your sheet, and using the “Shift” key to select all of them in the list at the same time. Then, you can right-click on one of the stamps on your sheet (Not in the Markups List), select “Edit Action”, and create your hyperlink. This will apply the hyperlink to all 450 stamps at the same time. This can also be done for regular Markups and Measurements.
