I got to meet him a volusia in the 80s, we camped at the same camp ground for a few nights. He was a really nice guy to be around. RIP

Saw him a few times at Fonda in my youth but the family moved to Maryland so I missed out on a lot of racing memories. Bob was always one of my dad's favorite drivers. I remember watching super dirt week on TV and dad always pointing him out when he was on camera. Barefoot Bob, Dave Lape and Jumpin' Jack. We've lost some real legends lately

I watched him do something almost unheard of. It was a regular show at Brewerton. He finished 3rd in his heat. He pulled in his pit and parked the primary car for the night due to an issue. Brought out his backup car to qualify through the last chance race. Drove from deep in the A-main to take the lead with 1 or 2 laps to go to win it!! Unreal. One of a kind, legendary.
