    Could you tell me where you got the pipe, carb kit and cam?

  • @tandemwind
    @tandemwind3 ай бұрын

    Belparts Pipe and Carb kit bought used from Portugal, but are available new from AJP Brazil. Cam is from the USA as the head is modified to take standard Honda CRF230F cam bearings. With this modification, any Honda CRF230F cam can be fitted.

    Please do tell more about the board and the fin: Brands, materials etc. For me, it seems amazing to surf on 20cm deep water.

  • @tandemwind
    @tandemwind4 ай бұрын

    CA40 board. 15.5cm Atomic Nuclear 50 degree rake weed fin. We are trying to sail in 30-40cm of water but sometimes we misjudge and get to far into the shallows. The depth changes very gradually and is mostly softish bottom, so as soon as I feel the fin dragging, I lean back. put max tilt on the board and make it spin out so I slide alone on my back. Not really recommended to do deliberately, but useful as a last resort. 🙂 Where I ended up you can see my foot has heel on the bottom and my toes out of the water. It really was only 15cm deep!! The fin is G10 and very sturdy! Lake George, South Australia

    Hi one more time :) I am writing to you to warn you of a serious design flaw due to which our engine in ajp spr240 has just seized up. The crankcase breather hose is routed under the engine and not to the airbox. Because of this, while driving in muddy conditions through puddles, our engine acquired water, mud through the breather pipe. The oil turned to milk. A lot of fine sand also flew out while draining this ooze. It was not possible to rebuild because all the bearings, gearbox, crank, head, everything was melted. I advise you in advance to move the vent higher in the area of the airbox. You finally fit into the frame the engine zs169fmm 69bore x 62.2stroke or zs165fmm 65.5mm x 66.2mm which is higher?

  • @tandemwind
    @tandemwind6 ай бұрын

    Thanks for the warning. AJP is not the first bike to employ this method of venting. My Honda 230/250 is the same. Have not heard of this issue before on those bikes. Still, I will change is as you suggest. My engine stopped with broken valve spring (ex) and bent ex valve. Squish and clearance was too small - contact between valve and piston. 😞. Engine out and being rebuilt to 300cc now. (bore and stroke to the maximum). I didnt go ahead installing the 165FMM engine as I did not get around to modifying the top frame brace. I may have to anyhow with the rebuilt engine as we may need a cylinder spacer to make it higher like the 165FMM.

    Carb and intake kit from Brazil AJP importer. Same available from USA importer. Cam similar to that sold by AJP Portugal and AJP USA. Exhaust is Belparts from Brazil. Also available from AJP USA and AJP Portugal. Roller rockers from China via ebay. Extra compression by my brother shaving head.(Be careful to keep squish to 30 thou inch - mine was too small and ended up with broken valve spring and bent valve from valve to piston contact) Engine being rebuilt now with 300cc!!!! 🙂

  • @serkidietetyczne1684

    You will kill this cylinder head! With this modification there is no oil flow thru the camshaft!! Take a look carefully!! Oil should flow into the camshaft from non driven end and then came out thru holes under the lobes. Your modification of the head for a new camshaft with two bearings does not take into account the oil channel by which the oil should go inside the camshaft!!! After couple of minutes of riding lobs and rockers will be messed up totally!! Type in google graphic "xr200 oil system diagram" , this is how it works when using this type of camshaft with two berings !!! EDIT: Ok, now I see that you modified the oil passages after publishing the video. This could confuse many users of this engine and lead to many failures. Maybe it would be better to modify the video itself or remove it? For the benefit of the humanity :)

  • @tandemwind
    @tandemwind Жыл бұрын

    That was known. It was not done yet in this video, but an oil gallery was cut in the rocker cover to feed oil into the end of the cam in the same way it happens in the Honda CRF230F head as was explained in the notes above. The engine was built with this head and had been running very well for a couple of years now. I recently took the rocker cover off to inspect it and all is as new.. 👍🙂

    @@tandemwind 👍Watching the video, I thought you were just in the process of assembling the engine and wanted to warn you about the failure, but I see that you have handled yourself perfectly😁 It's good to hear that the motorcycle is running for several years without any problems. I'm just waiting for the spr 240 to be delivered, can you tell me how the issue with parts availability from the manufacturer is according to your experience? This is my only concern....

    @@serkidietetyczne1684 No worries. Thanks. 🙂 I have had the bike for just over 3 years now and the few specific AJP parts I have needed were OK to get through the Australian Importer. But I have often found it easier to get some parts for the engine directly from China or though a local reseller here in Australia. The main performance parts I got were the Belparts exhaust and carby/intake kit, sounded second hand from Europe, and the performance Camshaft from the USA.
