    I love your videos and you explain really well. I'd like to add that you really need some good arm strength to do the reverse shoulder roll, more than the back roll. Although my abdominal muscles are pretty good and I can easily get into that triangle position, I find it hard to push into my arms to the point I'd flip over. I know I have less upper body strength but with practice it should get better. 😃

  • @hannawinters5026
    @hannawinters50263 жыл бұрын

    That’s a great observation!! Yes, this one does take a lot more upper body strength than the back roll. Some arm conditioning should help you along!! :)

    Is it necessary to spot someone to do this when teaching them? If so, what is the correct way to do so?

  • @hannawinters5026
    @hannawinters50263 жыл бұрын

    Hi!! I’ve never had to spot someone with all of these cues, and I would try not to. This roll is dealing with placement of the neck which is very fragile and every body is going to have a different range of motion. If you try to spot someone into the roll, it might force their neck somewhere it doesn’t want to go!!! If they aren’t getting it, it might just be a flexibility thing. Have them practice “plow pose” (yoga term) at home. After practicing with these cues and remembering to have both hands firmly on the ground (so that they don’t flip over onto their sides), they should be able to get it in a few classes!! Hope this helps...

  • @hannawinters5026
    @hannawinters50263 жыл бұрын

    Depending on what issue they’re having though...flopping over on their side is common...you could try standing super close to them so that they can’t actually flip over. So if they were going to, your body would brace theirs and encourage them to go over their shoulder without forcing them? Hmm...never tried that though. I like the verbal spots best for this one :)

    Hi, how to reverse the shoulder roll such that we can and our feet directly opposite where it started, ie at 180deg.

  • @hannawinters5026
    @hannawinters50263 жыл бұрын

    Hey! I just saw this, try using your arms for control, and once you actually get onto your back, use your core to control yourself on the way down. You should be able to get a lot of power/control thinking about this. Might take some new muscles building and some practice!

    This is kind of late, but how do you prevent yourself from landing on your hips at the end of the roll?

  • @hannawinters5026
    @hannawinters50263 жыл бұрын

    Hey!! Do you mean that you are landing on the side? Like on one hip? I’m trying to understand your question so I can best answer it!!

    @@hannawinters5026 I’m landing on the side of one hip. Hopefully that makes sense! Thank you for actually replying!

  • @hannawinters5026
    @hannawinters50263 жыл бұрын

    @@fenacansbuilds5688 no problem! So the times when I’ve seen that happen is when people aren’t getting fully on top of their shoulder and rolling all the way over it. Usually the person ends up on the side of their shoulder and then lands on their hip. Reasons why this might happen is you don’t have enough mobility in your neck, or your brain is trying to protect your body by not letting it do something very unnatural. When you roll over, the floor should only touch your shoulder in the same space as the collar bone, and then up from there, between your neck and top of shoulder. The more you tuck your knees in to your face, you should land on your knees. Try going really slow and use the couch trick in my video! Hope this helps.

  • @hannawinters5026
    @hannawinters50263 жыл бұрын

    Also check your hand placement. I explain it in the video. Make sure you press into the floor with the hand and arm that is the same shoulder you roll over. Doing this should prevent you from rolling to your side because you are pushing your body to be straight!

    😄👍 nice. I will try that. I did a move similar to this using neck and I was practicing for some time. Then my neck is hurting now 🤣. How you can do these moves with no hurt to neck?

  • @hannawinters5026
    @hannawinters50263 жыл бұрын

    Hey! I just saw this! It's important to warm up your neck properly before trying this! Your whole body frankly...shoulder rolls, neck rolls, looking from right to left, etc. Your neck still might get sore because there's a chance you are moving it in ways you have never tried before!! But trust me that with consistent practice, it will stop getting sore :)
