This was such a great video, thank you!!! Can you make a part 2 with Roots Organics, ProMix and Mother Earth plz? 😁 These are other soils I’ve seen in one of my local grow shops
how do you store it? I know pH meters should me stored wet and ec meters should me stored dry. but a combination meter I don't know...
You definitely store this one in liquid!
I dont run a dehumidifier, I increase airflow dramatically if its to humid. So far I have been lucky, its good enough. I do run the AC though when its needed.
Yeah, the AC helps me a lot with my humidity too!
@@HappyHydro I am lucky, my ac in my lung room is wifi. So I can mess with it from anywhere. Like my AC infinity set up. I am thinking about avoidning a summer grow in the future though, even though I grow autos and can do 2 or 3 runs a year.
It’s super common to take the summer off or only grow outdoors during that season here in NY
@@HappyHydro Yea, thats where I am at atm. Im mid flower right now. I have my airflow pretty strong from the bottom of my tent going up, so a strong pull right through my canopy. I am not to worried. Probably won't be super dense nugs, but I am sure good enough for me.Its already ultra frosty.
@@HappyHydro I have a 2x2 and a 5x5 , I already took the break with the 5x5. Just grew one gdp in the 2x2.
Happy frog and Ocean Forest are my go to
Are you my father?
if your growing tomatoes this is great if your growing weed use a lose potting soil and if its organic you dont need to ph because the life in the soil and the plant it self will regulate the ph around the root zone this has been scientifically proven to +or- 1 point of ph myco is great if you know if you need endo or ecto for the type of plant or tree your growing dont waste your money on these expensive soils that cost between 15-35$ for a cubic foot just go with the cheap it dose the same thing at 5-12$ and some worm castings or compost if your useing organic amendments you are going to have to have a living soil or added biology to your soil or the amendments will not get broke down and there for starve your plants i hope this helps because these vids where people act like they know what you should use and never propagated any plants and if you plant your seed strait in any of these they will 100% stunt your weed especially if you grow auto flower they are on a timer so you dont have time to fix the stunted growth like a photoperiod the only one up there that is actually good is the build a soil it literaly comes as a finished soil you have to add nothing its a water only soil the only one that is worth the money on this list they also have a lite version which is also a water only soil for lite feeding plants or auto flowers and for all of you who have used and organic soil its got bugs so how do i get rid of these bugs well its easy (mosquito bits) it is in fact just a bacteria that is safe for you pets and fish so this bacteria eats the chitin in the shell of the bugs and it also attacks the eggs of said bugs as well and it works fast a week at most and then your bugs are gone not your biology and you did not even have to hit it with some chems or other poison
My tomatoes will thank you 👀
2025 Bro ?
I live in the future
you are so professional at first I thought it was a gaia green official video. great channel
Wow, thank you!
Coast of Maine is garbage, their soil has so many Fungal gnats. Read all the review online about how indoor growers hate that company foe how horrible and overrated they are.
I will do some reading for my follow up video, thanks for the comment
Is fish emulsion a good fertilizer for herbs?
Yes!
If your using this for cannabis.. cut the tbs per gallon in half or even to 1 per gallon.. it's honestly over kill and once i started using less, I got much better results.
How long did it take you to realize this?
Ammendments with Benefits! ;)
Dominion blend from Duke diamond please
Ill have to check it out
Roots Organic????
The OF+HF combo with FF trio really did well when I was starting out. It really carried the grow until I learned more about plant nutrition. Though I have since moved into other mediums, I still have a soil setup and use this regime of products in it. I would definitely pick up a cal-mag to add to the FF trio for when you will need it, and getting a low-high-high(NPK) flower booster has improved the scenario as well. You dont have to know it all at once. Just make sure you are getting things that play well together. The soils is pricey, but I have reused the same OF+HF soil many times over for the things alive in it. You can just keep screening it for roots and move right on.
I used to put my used soil in my outdoor garden and my neighbors were always amazed at how big my veggies grew 😂
Bas forever. (As long as they don’t become a victim of capitalism)
It is a really good soil for sure!
Yeah it’s wet because they use a wetting chemical to keep it wet in the bag…. Quit talking about soil moisture in the bag
What wetting chemical are they using?
I've used most on your list, I think the Roots Organic LUSH is the best. It's the only one that went the whole way in a 10 gallon.
Good to know! I’m taking notes for the follow up video
absolutely powerful mullet sir
hahah thank you!!
For less than $50 you can mix 50 gallons of the best super soil possible, yourself.
Post the recipe!
@@HappyHydro 4 cu.ft peat, 16 qt perlite, 4 cup dolomite lime, 2 cu.ft worm castings or compost, 8-12 cup Down To Earth All Purpose (or combine any Down To Earth fert for your NPK needs). Mix, water, mix again, then store one month. Only needs water after that. Gentle and nutrient rich. Mykos sprinkled directly on rootballs when you transplant.
You rock thank you for providing this!
27:40 965ppm for happy frog can't be right, even 9.65 would be triple the rest
I measured it 3 times and that was the average I got, so I am not too sure
27:30 im no expert but i tried to convert ppt to ppm, because im not familiar with ppt. so 3.6ppt = 0,0000036ppm. am i missing here something?
Great video, thanks for all the info
Any time!
Bro, you tested the crappiest blends, and didnt even cover Pride Lands??? Coco promix style with Pride Lands will CRUSH any of those mixes.
Oh I bet!
at least 3 of these are not living soils...
Which three?
@@HappyHydro Happy frog, ocean forest and purple cow. Happy frog is seedling starter soil, with a tiny amount of mykos. Ocean forest is VEG soil. Purple Cow is compost. You couldn't even mix them all together and make a living soil. You need moss, compost, aeration, oyster shell powder, crab meal, worms, kelp meal, karanja meal, gypsum, basalt, rice hulls, living organisms and worms and on and on and on for living soil. This other stuff is just extended release potting soil
Good looks! I plan on dropping a part 2 and will dive deeper. For this one I wanted to hit the most popular indoor gardening soils as well as some living soils and I appreciate you pointing out the differences!
All these soilless mixes are fine but I wont even comment on the price. Plus, shipping soilless mixes all over the country is just plain stupid.
We have free shipping for any order over $49! Check out happyhydro.com
Is in your tent 😊
haha nice!
You seriously need to smoke less if you think you can already tell what's the best living soil in 2025
My brain is in 2055 my man
Really love the video as a new grower, but as a blind viewer, if you could just audio, describe some of the stuff going on in the video, I’m sure there was very good cinematography to capture what you were doing and didn’t need much words for your viewers that are visual But you could do that for people like myself or even those that may not want over the phone or in the moment would be appreciated but nonetheless your work is tremendously respected thank you for what you do open my soil last without needing to amend too much and I have a nice harvest outdoors this year for the first time Happy growing and smoking to everybody nothing but love
Hey I appreciate the feedback and thanks for watching and your support!
"Pro mix bx" best growing medium hands down!
I'll have to get into some next time!
Learn what your soil needs. Your not feeding the plant but more like feeding the soil each soil is great in it own right. Just depends on how you choose to use it Great Vid
That's very good insight
Can I use r o water?
I believe that should be fine
Just got mine!! I’m sooo happy!!
Nice!!!
Mothers earth soil is the best not mentioned
Ooh I'll have to get into that next time!
My understanding on the BAS 3.0 is that they added the mustard seed meal, in part, to make it a little less desirable to fungus gnats. So far I have not experienced issues with this recipe, so maybe it helped 😁
Whoa that is cool! haha fingers crossed!
Really? No pro-mix
Yea I know right! It will be on another one for sure!
I tried ocean forest for the first time this summer and have never had such a bad fungus gnat infestation. The rumors are true.
Good to know!
Mother Earth dirt here. 2 seasons going on 3. Coco dirt mix. 70coco to 30dirt seems to be the best blend so far. 50/50 works good also but tend to bring fungus gnats with more dirt
Nice! Sounds like a well maintained combo
Sprinkle clove and peppermint seeds on top of your pots, helps keep them away.
@@notme1345 Nice tip! Ill have to try that
I really do like these tests. Like that 1 guy that tests all our other stuff
Thanks!
REALLY DIDN'T SHOW HOW TO SET IT UP!!!
Yea this video was mainly focused on the improvements from the old generation to the new one. Did you have any questions about the set up process?
@@HappyHydro yes can’t figure out the auto setting. So for now just using it on on. Thanks for the quick reply. Enjoy your videos
@@thefoundimage You can walways give us a call and we can try to help you trouble shoot it!
I'm also having trouble getting mine to work on auto function. It is either on or off 😅, I'm hoping there is a way to set it so that when the grow room drops below X% it'll turn on then shut off again and maintain the humidity
@@btodd21 Are we using the Auto feature on the humidifier or the controller?
Bio365:is an excellent line. I suggest using the bioALL instead of flower as it s a bit lighter than the flower. But it's water only for first month
Yea that are all solid soils!
Build A Soil is the truth
It’s some pretty excellent stuff!
Great information on uv! Thank you. Im introducing uv for the flower and already see the changes on the colas. Could be the genetics or the heat stresses from the wHaCk ass weather!! Seeing the results from "all of the above", I'm going to attempt to mimic those same conditions on the next run. Learning something new every day 🖖
Glad I could help! Happy growing and let me know how it goes!
I have been checking the terpenes for the past few days and today, I am harvesting! It's like the night before Christmas 😁. April 1st until 7-22 ..... awesome 😎. I want to thank you, all of the other growers who share the knowledge and experience with so many!! Now for the cure. 🖖 Peace my brother and thank you.
@@jimg5619 Heck yea my dude that is exciting!! I am very glad I could help. That is what I love about this community!
This guy talking about dirt, also looks like joe dirt
haha gotta dress for the job you want!
@HappyHydro lol No Doubt Brother!
@@nathanblaine2611 haha appreciate you!
The last two years I have been using Coast of Maine Stonington Blend as my base. I like a nice diversity in my garden media. I do use some BAS ingredients to basically make my own version of their 3.0. I'm a very big fan of Craft Blend! Two other ingredients that go into my base are the Montana Grow Volcanic silica and the pumice that they sell. I always cook my media before use. I add all my amending ingredients, with some intended to feed the microbes and fungi. When I pot up a bag or an Earthbox, that media is highly active microbially and fungally. This last batch that I made, in addition to my normal compost T to inoculate everything, I added BAS product called RootWise and brewed it for the last four hours of the compost tea brewing. It definitely made a difference in the root intrusion into the nutrient mound of my Earthboxes. I have a set amount of ingredients that forms the nutrient mound. Same strain same tent same light, the root intrusion into the nutrient bound occurred far quicker than it has before. The root intrusion is how I gage the timing when a second top dressing to the nutrient mound is needed. I definitely hand to change my schedule. Naturally, with bigger roots, you're going to have a bigger plant and that's what occurred. I also had to flip sooner than anticipated.
Whoa some heavy duty first hand knowledge! I appreciate the info and input!
Thanks for the great video, this was very informative and helpful! Also, I'm diggin the mullet!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks, I grew it myself lol
That mullet is on point, bud! 😂💪🏻
hahah right on!
Dont go with Bro Science folks, follow real Science instead. Utah State University and De Bacco University already has an amazing Recipe you should check before random Guys in the Internet ;)
Hey thanks for the input! I always appreciate when folks bring info to the table and are able to share it so that we can all make the best decisions for ourselves and our plants! That's what I love about this community. I am no expert but just a guy that wants to help share whatever I can with the world. Happy growing!
What happened to the sohum soil that happy hydro used to carry? Used that stuff back when i was learning to grow few years back before i went full buildasoil and that stuff was great!
Ah man, they've gone dark and halted production for almost a year now
@HappyHydro ahhh that sucks, they were solid! Hopfully one day they make a return lol
@@The-Gaming-Gamer yea I hear ya!
