Another excellent video. You might have mentioned that Mr. Wright designed the house to be easily changed once all the Hanna children grew up. The original 3 tiny children's bedrooms grew into a large parent's bedroom suite. The original sanctum grew into a large library. The children's playroom changed into a large formal dining room for entertaining guests. The changes were done in the mid to late 1950s. My favorite detail is the light-well at the south end of the kitchen tower which illuminates the bedroom hallway below.

  • @fzarchitecture

Hi, in Wright when we talk about organic, is not as current architecture that it is more as organic shapes. In that time, organic architecture was to bring the nature, contact with the exterior and be more transparent in the time when the architecture couldn't offer that sense of living. For that reason Wright is called organic because he broke the box where all were living. New homes need to adjust to the times. Home solar energy and battery storage are now more common. Electric vehicles are becoming more popular every year. Every garage should include a 220 volt outlet and electric vehicle charger. Every new home and business should install a rain water collection and storage system along with solar panels. Even in areas where rain is infrequent it is crazy to waste the little rain that does fall and waste it. We need to stop planting green lawns and switch to local native plantings around homes. It is crazy to plant lawns and build golf courses in dry desert areas. We waste too much water and electricity. the future is electric. Wind and solar energy along with electric vehicles are the future. Stop using fossil fuels. There is a climate crisis.

Hi John, thank you for the comment. The house shown on the beginning is a house created by Ai that has the Wright design style but is not. I use this generic picture as introduction for the unbuilt projects that has his style. It is a rendering but really looks a Wright house. It remember me the latest Usonian houses that soon I will start preparing that videos. Thank you for joining!

Thanks so much for your reply, and I really love the look of the Ai house. Yes, I think FLW could have created it and would most likely been proud of it. Do you have any other renditions of this AI produced house? Floor plans? I would love to make a model of it, if that’s possible. Anyway, love your videos.. thanks again.

@@johnzidek7605 Hi, for sure, in that case Ai does not work as well as people says or think. Has many mistakes but as a rendering has many items that could be real. Myself as an architect and my own firm, we could create the model of that house. Are you considering to build or only because you like that style?

Hello. At 21:55 there is a rowhouse design. It's not clear the name of the street for this project. It sounds like Girder Street or Gurder. Can you reply with the street name? Thanks.

My guess is Goethe street, perhaps in the block intersecting Sedgwick St. given the lot shape and sizes.

If you are trying to correct the pronounciacion of Mies, i have to correct you aswell. Mies is not his first name. His surname is Mies. He added his mothers surname (Rohe) as part of a personal transformation. So Mies is his sirname, same as his added artist name "van der Rohe"

Large roof over hangs are beautiful and protect the doors, windows and siding from rain and moisture damage. Water is the enemy of buildings. Architects and home builders need to bring back large roof over hangs

Absolutely! Large roof overhangs not only add aesthetic value but also provide crucial protection against the elements. It's a win-win situation for any home.

I am a FLW addict. So much so I purchased a primitive knock off on the shore of the Rock River built in 1948. Been there 19 years. Will die there. But it “ain’t” no true FLW by any means. Low horizontal roof line and all glass in the rear and 60% on the side built at a 35 degree to the river with maybe 20% glass in the other side since neighbor house is 12 ft away on that side. But the elevation makes it as such wherever you are in our one story home you do not see the backyard lawn but visual begins at seawall. All you see is the water. 33 ft from the seawall is the rear of our home. For living in a modest, mostly blue collar area, we have the Gem. Thanks for your videos. We tour FLW properties whenever we can. The Laurent house, Rockford IL is less than 10 min drive away. (Rockford IL)
