Hi I'm Dylan Paris!
I'm a musician and video creator! I make videos about music, technology, and music technology. I often focus on new gear or making music from scratch on camera.
My music can be found where music is streamed or sold. Excited to have you around!

Or half that for mpc 1000 with jjos. Which is what I did 😁
I think the low price for a box with so much packed into says a ton about the value of good UI. People are quick to say "oh the MPC workflow isn't for me" or similar, but the workflow is fine... the UI on the modern MPC series is just horrible. There are so many pages and hidden functions that people have to use constantly but are easy to forget exactly where that one thing might live. The very fact that converting chopped samples to a kit is a shift function, I mean... how many new users have been subjected to hours of youtube videos just to do the one thing the MPC was built for? Even watching this video we can see why the MPC breaks apart, it's those "uhh" moments where your brain just has to think about something other than the process of making music. This is coming from an MPC-One user, while it has the most bang for the buck, it's not a fun box. I find myself constantly reaching for my SP-404mkii over the MPC-One almost daily, or even an elektron box like the syntakt.
I disagree that it’s not fun but I agree that it takes FOREVER to get the hang of
E X C E L L E N T- DYLAN!!! That beat is a hit! That guitar rig should come out at the end or at the Climax of the song!
Thank you!!
Just copped one in mint condition for 300€. Samplers are pretty much the only thing you can find cheap in finland
Nice!
Bad news: my stean deck finally died on me after years of faithful servie. Good news: i had enough money to get myself a new Oled :)
Sorry to hear about the old one but stoked for the new one!
mpc one is the best, got everything it needs without the the distractions.
It'd be interesting to have your experience on this second hand buy compared to a new one : are paid plugins and extensions carried over ? Is it tied to the device or the user account? Did you factory reset it ? All the little practical details.
MPC is amazing if you like the workflow! It’s not for everyone!
Heck yeah it’s worth it. The One is amazing. I still don’t have one and I have no idea why. 😂
Beau!! Good to see you! And it’s worth trying for sure, definitely a learning curve but a pretty phenomenal Swiss Army knife
Good stuff. Still using my One-, I can’t seem to part with it, even after the + came out
If price not an issue, prefer push 3?
Yep!
Nice to see the guitar out! :)
Been playing it a lot, practically obsessed, it’s so cool 🙏😭
For years, I was scared the Vita was going to be the best handheld gaming console we’d ever see, then the Switch came out, and now I have the Deck OLED. Just wish I could play Honkai Star Rail and Wuthering Waves on it.
I have owned the Mpc live (OG) since it came out. Still works great. I did one of those make 30 beats in 30 days challenges and was able to find a way to make good quality music quickly. Over the last few years I’ve gone back to a daw setup w/ outboard gear… but at some point every year do go back and bang out some beats on the Mpc
Hell yeah!
What happened to the keys 37
It was a loaner from zZounds, I sent it back and bought this
Force user here- do you prefer the one or the force?
The force has some cool features that the MPC one doesn’t have, but for the price and the size I’d pick the One if I had to choose. I still have both though 🙏
Oh yeah, I bought a used MPC One last year too. Barely used it. But a couple of weeks ago Roger Linn gave his approval for the new MPCs in a video on his channel. I've always found the MPC workflow and structure unnecessarily cumbersome but now that your video has also appeared in my feed I might just give it another chance.
Low Heat!! 👑🫡🙏 the workflow is so confusing at first and then it clicks and everything is super fast, but getting there is honestly so frustrating that I understand when people bounce off. That Roger Linn video was awesome too
nice tune
Thank you! 🙏🫡😭
i followed recently and your content is amazing. keep it up! i don’t now much about gear but slowly getting there with vids like this so thanks dude :)!
Thank you! That’s so kind of you to say I appreciate it 🙏🫡😎
The fact that this device isn't getting absolutely championed at the highest level is absurd to me. You're so right, it can do everything the X, X SE, the Live II and all the others can do, minus some memory and knob functionality on the UI. But as far as the guts and the capability of it, it's right there with anything out. I love the MPC One. I sold mine becuase I was strapped for cash, now I'm regretting it.
I hope you’re able to get a good deal on one someday soon! My only regret is not getting a retro edition but that’s just for aesthetic reasons
Cubasis 3 has midi learn function for midi controller shame on you Apple😂
if Akai would support 3rd party VST's that would be a game changer.
Easy
I feel the same way. The D2 solved all of the problems I had with the D1, but it’s a different set of problems! I sold my D1 due to the lack of real kits, the 8 track limit and no page looping. The D2 fixed all of this and so much more.
I think the most insane part is they have a bunch of videos named "(insert famous person) Type Beat"
lol that actually makes me mad 🤣🤣💀
This device has completely changed my life in the explosion of musical creativity it has given me. The ability to TRACK good sounding drums, synths, vocals including easy stereo stacking, PLUS recording via line input, PLUS a USB-C input/output to my iPhone, is fucking amazing. There’s practically no menu diving, it fits in my jacket pocket, has a 10-hour battery life, and looks amazing. This is fucking crazy amazing, and intuitive, and literally the best music device I’ve ever had - not because of specs, but because what it lets me do easily from anywhere. If you hate it… I’m not concerned w/defending it - but to those out there looking for feedback from people who use it - it’s truly, truly amazing.
I’m glad you’re enjoying it! Thanks for sharing your experience 🙏
Great vid. Can u give the link of the MPC + keyboard stand. Not the same as the one in the description. Thanks
It actually is the one in the description! Two of them :)
@@DylanParisMusic smart guy 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’ve seen many videos and read many comments on this keyboard. 1 thing that vexes me is the pressure & expectations put upon yt presenters to not only know everything about a product, but also state everything. We’re only humans. How does not mentioning something instantly make someone a sellout? Not everyone wants/needs/likes the same thing or feels the same way. Why do so many folks act like presenters are tech support for the company? Gone are the days when someone would demonstrate the functions of a piece of gear and/or some presets and viewers would be happy because there is almost no way nowadays to try gear out like in a music store. After reading so many comments I realize that the perspective of some folks is a bit eschewed. Some have unrealistic expectations of the product itself, no wonder they project that to the presenter. If presenters tried to put ‘everything’ in a video, folks would then complain that it’s too long. I often say, “you can’t have everything, where would you put it“? For some people too much is never enough. Presenters are also expected to maintain their composure and respond to every comment almost immediately, which doesn’t seem very fair. Some comments are downright wacky and even disrespectful and I can feel presenters biting their tongues in their responses. Let’s take a breath and a step back and be happy that we don’t have to buy all the gear and send it back just to try it. 🎹♥️
P.s., I have to send my mk2 back to sweetwater for repair or exchange. I plan to get the mk3 to use while that transpires because I can’t have any downtime right now at all. I’ll buy it because I like/want/need what it does now, and to be onboard for whatever the future holds. 🎹♥️
@@830jkl I do think I genuinely missed the mark on this video a bit by not knowing a crucial piece of information, but I really appreciate your kind words ❤️🙏
@@DylanParisMusic My pleasure. I just think if someone didn’t get the info they wanted from one video, watch another. I imagine these same folks don’t have the same reaction when they watch a video about an iPhone or the new android. My guess is many if not all of them are paid in some way to make those videos, yet people will still buy one and deal with any issues it may have as they encounter them and wait for updates and bug fixes. I don’t believe they’re as vehement in those or some other cases. Just my humble opinion. 🎹♥️
Have you tried Camelot Pro? I use with AUM and love it. Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Best? If by best you mean smaller screen, outdated parts and burn in issues with OLED plus compatibility handicapp..yes is the "best"
Does it offer stems separation?
Good thing you had an extra kidney lying around so you could buy one!!😂
RIP to that kidney for real
I remember how huge hype was when mk1 apeared. "This is feature", "this is revolutionery". But the reality is if people only knew that it is 10 year support and then it is brick. The guy says 10 years it is long? No it is not long. It must be life time couse we are garbaging our planet!!!
Your hat is cold.
😎🙏
I was torn between the ally steam deck and Legion. I ended up Buying the Legion it’s on order from Best Buy. This will be my first hand held
Rad! I hope you enjoy it!
I have a LCD Deck that I have installed Bazzite on and have decided that it is mainly going to be used for PS1, PS2 and PSP emulation. I do most of my game playing on my OLED Deck (still on SteamOS, but once Bazzite fully supports it, I will switch). I have been using Linux desktops since the mid 2000's and been gaming on them a couple years before the original Steam Machines launched (Wine kind worked for a couple of my games). I am so thankful Value has been working with CodeWeavers on Proton. The Steam Deck is the gaming device I have always wanted and I am very happy with it. I am still looking forward to a proper new controller, new Steam Machines and the next Deck as well. Happy gaming!
Dude… killed it. Please tell me you completed this.
Thanks man! I think this one is still just sitting in demo form on the force for now!
@@DylanParisMusic hahaha, I hear yah bro. I have hundreds like that.
@MyNameJeff.. big same haha, the songs I finish are probably like 1/40th of what I start, especially working on this channel 🤣
@@DylanParisMusic haha same. Was working on one the last week, and just lost interest lol.
“And the annsweerr is yes.” Hahaha legit laughed out loud
Do you still use this, dude? Got the e4, really enjoy it but not being able to use multi effects made it a no go for me. The vt4 is coming tomorrow, hopefully it’ll be a keeper. Using it with the field.
Oh rad dude!! I sent this back to zZounds a while back but I might get something like it later! Think of using an MPC for vocal fx but might be overkill
@@DylanParisMusic For sure! Getting it for the op-1 field. I love using the mpc for vocal effects inside the op-1, but wanted something small to throw in my bag.
@@DylanParisMusic Been doing comparisons with using the mpc and the roland separately. The roland seems to sit more in the mix better on the op-1 but I think with some tweaks and eq’ing I can make the mpc work. It is fun not messing with a screen on the Roland though.
@@MyNameJeff.. that makes sense! The MPC can definitely kill some of the DAWless vibes
@@DylanParisMusic It can, but it’s the most versatile piece of gear I’ve ever owned. Haven’t even thought twice about selling the plus. Are you still loving the key37?
That's a cap! Legion Go or Rog Ally are the go-to the Steam Deck is the switch of handheld PC's.
id take my pocket go any day
I hadn't bought a system in like 10 yrs and bought a lcd steam deck anti scratch blahblah .best system I've ever had in my life lol .
An MPC live does literally everything this does for way less..
What a stupid take. The ouya is the best console ever
You got me there 🤣🙏😭
Thank You for the heads up on 3rd party expansion creators!most helpful👏🏾
🙏🫡😎
As someone who owns the switch, switch lite and steam deck… I prefer the switch lite the most. I never realized how much the form factor mattered to me. I’d pick my miyoo mini as 2nd fav. handheld right now. I end up playing most of my steam games on my pc.
When I first saw the Steam Deck Oled on the steam site and what it could do, I didnt think about it. TIll I saw it again one day when it was back in stock and saw the 1tb mode. Before I knew it I took the plunge and waited for it to arrive. After opening it and sniffing the fresh out the box tech, I immediately regretted it after putting it down to play on my rig. Then, I started loading more and more games on it. getting more use to the steam deck controls and buttons i never thought i use. Now I dont want to play on any other controller, even my switch pro which was my favorite till then. I actually looked for steam controllers that came close to the steam deck so I could play it docked like my switch. Speaking of switch, I use to bring it with me whenever i go out. Its been a couple months but I use to have my switch and Oled with me and now I started leaving my switch at home. Its crazy how much the Steam Deck Oled changed me, playing games I never would have on my rig. Games i would buy on Switch are being bought for my steam deck. I played games stuck on my steam account I thought i wouldnt touch. Nintendo has to step up cause the steam deck oled set the standard for me. It is my favorite console surpassing the switch.
SD is a dated shit piece of tech
😯
Lets see if Asus can get customers trust back. I guess well see when the time comes.
If I want to play offline for months in the middle of nowhere switch is better or steam deck can work for months without internet?
