No mention of foreign ownership or the massive surge in immigration, only offering interest rates coming down as the solution. Nice gaslighting.

He didn't even mention the Westside you can get massive houses on huge blocks for 600k to to under 800k. I got my small house for 470k and I'm 15 min to beach gougous Werribee mansions and 26 min drive to Willson carpark at docklands so half an hour to city. There are also plans for a new Westfields soon. There is so much to offer around here and no one mentions it soon when the Westgate tunnels are done and the Geelong fast train coming the prices will sky rocket so get in on the west before it does!!!!

All of this mess was the deliberate choices made by governments to preference the wealthy over the bottom half. Slums and favelas are on the way. This will completely change how politics works in Oz. We are ruled by idiots

Yank here, I hate the we didn't build enough argument. We have enough housing, the issue is vacany and corporations turning single homes into investments vehicles. If you tax vacany heavily and don't allow corporations to own or invest in single family house, we would have plenty of homes.

It doesn't matter what my house is worth now, if I'm never going to sell it and receive that money. It's my home, I know the neighbors, it's a safe neighborhood, and I could never get a comparable house elsewhere for what my house would sell for now. My generation worked a long time building up to where we could afford a house. I rented for a long time, and then bought a mobile home and lived in that for a few years. I've been in my current house for just 20 years, and I don't ever plan to move. Younger people can work their way up to a house the same as I did. They consider things as necessities that I consider luxuries. I never had more than one TV in the house, there were no cellphones, I never took vacations except for the honeymoon almost 40 years ago. There were months where I couldn't afford anything more than chicken bologna sandwiches three times a day. Today's people think they are being deprived if they can't get their favorite bottled water or the latest expensive iPhone. They have no restraint.

My father is living in a large home, and I now live with him. The baby boomer generation aren’t like today’s generations. They have a strong sense of community and build up life long friendships with all their neighbours. Like the movie the Castle , it’s not house , it’s a home. To move is to give that all up. My parents worked hard all their lives and the home is filled with memories. The housing shortage isn’t the baby boomers fault. Yet they are almost being shamed into taking the blame and being made feel guilty for not wanting to leave their homes. The answer is for the current generation that have been passed the baton to run the country left to us by the boomers, for governments to plan better, control immigration better, and provide the building industry more support and less red government red tape . Leave the boomers alone.

The biggest problem at this moment in time is building inspection reports being the wild wild west. "House needs rewiring at a cost just over the amount allowing an escape from the legal contract" when the house was rewired by a qualified and licenced electrician in 2016 is an offence in any other industry. What's next? "I looked out the window and there was a sink hole" when there isn't one.....

I went for a drive through the outer West of Melbourne, and all I saw were the slums of the future: no real jobs, few facilities, dead-end streets with little interconnectability and difficult access, and seemingly no way to pay off all the debt for the oversized houses (hint, hint - drugs, drugs, drugs, drugs and more drugs). Dead, soulless sh**holes for mindless drones.

Lol I brought in the west and haven't experienced that yet. But work as a traffic controller all over especially in some of those places his mentioned and it's junkies galore trying to kill you. When I work as a traffic controller on the west everyone nice as pie. I heard when you go far from shopping Centres around the west that's what it's like but that's everywhere. The community here is tight. I take people to the Werribee mansions and even the drive there is stunning with olden days houses and immaculate lush gardens and tell people this is apparently the Melbourne ghetto. I'm from Sydney mount Druitt and everywhere people tell me it's the ghetto in Melbourne I laugh I'm like this is a holiday. Look around hoppers Crossing there are back streets here with massive stunning 2 story houses away from public eye. As for work opportunities I handed out my resume to places I wanted to work cause I want a change the first place called me back and I start tomorrow they said with my experience they want to push me up to superviser in two weeks. I have never been taken seriously like this in my life. There is so much work everywhere here it depends what you want to do.

Wow if I got the chance, I’d buy a place like that and start a lil farm where I can just turn off my Internet and go hunt between farming seasons. Hell, I’d even have a place like this and work on a community farm and we all allocate some of our property back to our lil community but I’d hope to be atleast a few hundred meters away lol
