Thanks for taking us along with you and allowing us a glimpse into this Nagoya sword museum. Seeing those katana brought back memories of playing Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. The ukiyo-e and book art is beautiful, especially 05:42 where it looks like they're wearing bird wings. 06:17 Have you ever tried any Japanese card games lika karuta or hanafuda?
@@LateMoonGrass Thank you for watching! I really appreciate it. I’m happy you enjoyed it! Dark souls memories are good memories! The books really blew my mind. They were all so beautifully artistic. I’ve never tried Karuta or Hanafuda but I have been interested for a long time now. I’ve been trying to find a group to play with. Are they fun? I have only seen them in a dramas!
@@Japanlifelive Thanks for your reply. I've never played those Japanese cardgames either. I just learned about Karuta from a Detective Conan movie and came across Hanafuda while researching for a drawing. I hope you can find some people to play it with. Wish you a good weekend.
The first time I came across Karuta was in an anime as well! Have you heard of Chihayafuru?
@@Japanlifelive No sorry, Chihayafuru didn't ring any bell with me. But I just looked it up and it instantly reminded me of the Karuta scenes in Detective Conan. It seems rather athletic for a card game. 😁
I'm really sorry your dad is not with you anymore. And with Toriyama-san you lost another person that was very important to you and so many others in the world. I, too, grew up watching Dragonball and Dragonball Z with delight. I just wanted to tell you: I was randomly recommended your Nagoya video last night (which made me happy because my friend is from this city) and I really enjoyed your casual way of presentation. So thank you and kind regards from Germany.
I truly appreciate your incredibly kind comment! I’m really happy you enjoyed my style! I have so many other places in Japan that I’m working on showing as well. Nagoya is a pretty great place! It is amazing how worldwide Dragon Ball became. I’m happy we could all enjoy it! Thank you so much for watching!

What system is this version from?
The one I'm playing here is the US Nintendo Entertainment System version.
Tecmo Super Bowl, the follow-up to Tecmo Bowl, achieved a groundbreaking milestone as the inaugural sports video game to secure licensing from both the National Football League and the National Football League Players Association. This remarkable feat granted the game the unique privilege of featuring the authentic names of real NFL teams and players, enhancing the football gaming experience to a whole new level of realism!
I didn’t know that! That’s a huge step. We did play Tecmo Super Bowl a lot as well! I will cover that too! I used to always play as the Seattle Seahawks but never dawned on me that it was the first game to ever have a licensing like that! Do you mind if I quote you for the video I do on that game?
@@JapanlifeliveSure, go ahead; I have no problem with that!!! 😃
It's an acquired taste; I'll admit that. It was made for a particular era, and it doesn't stand very well outside that era. I have so much nostalgia and love for this game, but I have to admit, to anyone wanting to play the original, they should just play Zero Mission on the GBA. If you want to play it, you have to play it the way it was intended. Get a copy of the original player's guide that gives you hints and some direction, and then lock yourself out from any modern walkthroughs. Be prepared to spend days on this, and only ask for help when you are so lost that you're willing to spend a week's worth of allowance to call a 900 number for help. I can promise that it will be a memorable experience that you'll enjoy, but I can't promise that you wouldn't have had more fun just buying one of the hundreds of random metroidvania's on Steam and giving them a shot.
I’ve been thinking about doing a full play through for the channel. Which one would you recommend, GBA zero mission or the original? I’m leaning towards the original because of how incredibly charming it is, not to mention my love for the original NES. I do have a walkthrough book from when it was originally released I got from super potato (a game store) but I don’t want to use it unless I absolutely have to! I love that you also remember the Nintendo power hotline!
@@Japanlifelive Play both and then review them? I want to say the original just because of the love I have for it, but you gotta know what you are in for. It does NOT play by today's standards of "fair."
