    Why is a router/modem combo more effective as a router when it is coupled with an external modem?

  • @BudgetNerd
    @BudgetNerd14 сағат бұрын

    I'm not sure I said that. What I said is, if you don't want the isp controlling your router or want a better router and more features, buy your own router and get a separate modem.

    just fyi, you can ground your black wire to any nearby metal spot on your car. ie; body bolt, headlight harness, etc.. and eliminate the 5 ft. of tied ground wire. Great vid!

    When talking about USB you need to mention which type of USB connection it uses. To me it's obvious that it's Micro USB, but many people will miss this. Especially when the new cameras came out with USB C. I hope this is changed in newer videos.

    Hi. I have a local network with a router of 4 ports and 4 PCs. I want to add another PC. Can I use a switch with 5 ports and use one port from the router to connect the switch and connect all 5 PC in the switch? Can they see each other on the network without configuring anything from the router? This is just a local network. No internet required.

    Technology moves so fast. I just signed up for a new internet plan last week, 500 Mbps both upload and download, unlimited data, just a hair over $30 per month. I went from 60 Mbps for about the same price, that's crazy.

    Personally, if budget allows, I would use electric PA sheath to run the cables through wall, if some day for obscure reason a cable snap or you have to run a second one (and have room for it) it will be far more easier than having to run it without a sheath.

    I had problem about my synology nas And Steve Baker Technical Support Engineer write me about my problem that We are sorry to hear that your DS218 has to be reset. This is likely caused by an issue in the DSM operating-system. We understand that you are worried about losing your data. Please rest assured, your data should not be affected by the reset as the OS and data are stored in separate partitions on the drives. When re-installing the OS, the system should normally not touch the data-partitions of your drives. I beleived and i did what he said now all my data erased omg i shocked after sir Steve Baker dissepeared i am alone there is nothing in my hands Synology is regret bad nas choose qnap there isnt good support for problemss !!! There is no good service and support becarefullll!!!

    I hate all the annoying armchair electricians saying none of this stuff would be up to code. I’m here to tell you right now as the only employee of an internet company who installs racks in these homes and businesses literally every single day-electrician code does NOT apply to these rack set ups. This is all considered low voltage. High voltage wiring can cross low voltage wiring and still not impact the data, as long as they run perpendicular instead of parallel. Don’t let these people who have no idea what they are talking about down talk your rack. It is more than beyond up to any codes or standards.

    This individual mansions an ethernet switch. An Ethernet switches to expand a single ethernet port from your router period and not your cable modem. What you really need instead of a ethernet switch is a router tied to your modem. So every time this guy says ethernet switch it really is a router that you need. And there are routers with built-in Wi-Fi as well. But he is kind of telling you the truth on how to expand from one ethernet to multiple ethernet. That's why I'm telling you about the ethernet switch and the router.

    5:14 When drilling holes between floors you'll probably want to seal up the hole the cables will be going through with some-sort of fire stopper, such as fire resistant foam(this isn't supposed to stop a hypothetical fire, but is meant to slow it enough that you have more time to get out in the event of a fire). Also use Riser rated cables between floors (riser rated cable have insulation made with slowing fire in mind)and plenum rated cables across a single floor run(when it burns it won't be toxic.). In doubt stick to plenum if you have to make more complicated Ethernet runs with going up a floor and a large distance horizontal across that floor.

    Big call out - avoid CCA cable and always go for 100% copper solid core cable to wire your house. CCA is a cheap alternative and widely use, it’s more difficult to work with (often snaps when trying to terminate)
