Why is a router/modem combo more effective as a router when it is coupled with an external modem?
I'm not sure I said that. What I said is, if you don't want the isp controlling your router or want a better router and more features, buy your own router and get a separate modem.
Networking 101 would be don't put your wireless access points inside a metal box.
No good got accident did not record
just fyi, you can ground your black wire to any nearby metal spot on your car. ie; body bolt, headlight harness, etc.. and eliminate the 5 ft. of tied ground wire. Great vid!
I just found out that patch panels also have a keystone variety. They look easier to me. I'm going to get one of those.
Did you buy that nas and test equipment yourself? If not then you’ve misled us by suggesting there is no material relationship between y’all
The only relationship I have with these companies is they give me the thing, and I share my honest opinions.
Stopped working waiting for facebook to answer
Video/audio is out of sync :\
Haha, you used the utility knife as a screw driver.
That's how true professionals do it.
When talking about USB you need to mention which type of USB connection it uses. To me it's obvious that it's Micro USB, but many people will miss this. Especially when the new cameras came out with USB C. I hope this is changed in newer videos.
Wow thanks heaps. I always wondered what these fancy looking switches are. No one was able to easily show me each component. Your video is super clear and easy to follow. Sub earned!
Hi. I have a local network with a router of 4 ports and 4 PCs. I want to add another PC. Can I use a switch with 5 ports and use one port from the router to connect the switch and connect all 5 PC in the switch? Can they see each other on the network without configuring anything from the router? This is just a local network. No internet required.
Correct. You can do that.
Technology moves so fast. I just signed up for a new internet plan last week, 500 Mbps both upload and download, unlimited data, just a hair over $30 per month. I went from 60 Mbps for about the same price, that's crazy.
You’ll need to re off set your audio and re upload.
wow man, thx +1
We literally have all these in our labs but no one taught about it!!
Personally, if budget allows, I would use electric PA sheath to run the cables through wall, if some day for obscure reason a cable snap or you have to run a second one (and have room for it) it will be far more easier than having to run it without a sheath.
How many leomuns please?!
I have one in my house but it doesnt fit for ethernet cable, o i cant connect my pc
I need one
This man just taught everyone how to make a LAN
I had problem about my synology nas And Steve Baker Technical Support Engineer write me about my problem that We are sorry to hear that your DS218 has to be reset. This is likely caused by an issue in the DSM operating-system. We understand that you are worried about losing your data. Please rest assured, your data should not be affected by the reset as the OS and data are stored in separate partitions on the drives. When re-installing the OS, the system should normally not touch the data-partitions of your drives. I beleived and i did what he said now all my data erased omg i shocked after sir Steve Baker dissepeared i am alone there is nothing in my hands Synology is regret bad nas choose qnap there isnt good support for problemss !!! There is no good service and support becarefullll!!!
I hate all the annoying armchair electricians saying none of this stuff would be up to code. I’m here to tell you right now as the only employee of an internet company who installs racks in these homes and businesses literally every single day-electrician code does NOT apply to these rack set ups. This is all considered low voltage. High voltage wiring can cross low voltage wiring and still not impact the data, as long as they run perpendicular instead of parallel. Don’t let these people who have no idea what they are talking about down talk your rack. It is more than beyond up to any codes or standards.
Can you use a third party RAID software like softraid to set up the NVME disks and other RAID options like RAID 5?
È anche wi fi ?
I will need a network outlet for my ethernet to work from home. Luckily I'll be able to add during the construction process. Thanks!
Whatever good it is my unit suffered from malfunction or No function of Auto Keystone Correction ultimately giving a spoiled rectangular picture, Now I am fed up with the Unit😢
last part is difficult to understand Especially when you showed your setup . Why still use MODEM i don't understand. i didn't see how you connect modem to switch.
What part of the video are you referring to?
Mine skipped recordings. Anyone else?
So my modem/router is located in the master bedroom, however I recently setup a gaming area in the living room but now have to run off my wifi. What can I do to setup my gaming area with direct ethernet cable other then having to move my modem?
That works in us houses but in uk houses you can't go through the walls so it's floors and ceilings
Works for new builds only
Is that some UK building code thing or are your walls solid concrete?
@@headlibrarian1996 solid concrete
@@headlibrarian1996 Cinder blocks used 😵💫
Because I'm learning Cisco I added an extra patch panel that gives me front of the rack access to the com ports
Probably the only reason to have a patch panel at home. Good luck on your test CCNA test.
This individual mansions an ethernet switch. An Ethernet switches to expand a single ethernet port from your router period and not your cable modem. What you really need instead of a ethernet switch is a router tied to your modem. So every time this guy says ethernet switch it really is a router that you need. And there are routers with built-in Wi-Fi as well. But he is kind of telling you the truth on how to expand from one ethernet to multiple ethernet. That's why I'm telling you about the ethernet switch and the router.
My Disney+ app looks too dark (on my 4k firestick) anyway to fix this?
Thank you friend, fuse box is a much smarter idea
Great video man! I wonder if you could put a bulb in the middle similar to a halogen bulb(ring) because that would be my ideal setup. Can’t seem to find what I’m looking for anywhere
I love the tribar led but the center bulb looks to plain, like I said I wish it was a ring instead of a
Is it just me, or is there an audio sync issue with this video?
Yes, there is.
It’s not just you. Audio sync issues.
When I wired my house I used 2 6-port wall plates with different keystone colors for each port going to wall plates in each room. Same concept but no protruding patch panel or numbers.
5:14 When drilling holes between floors you'll probably want to seal up the hole the cables will be going through with some-sort of fire stopper, such as fire resistant foam(this isn't supposed to stop a hypothetical fire, but is meant to slow it enough that you have more time to get out in the event of a fire). Also use Riser rated cables between floors (riser rated cable have insulation made with slowing fire in mind)and plenum rated cables across a single floor run(when it burns it won't be toxic.). In doubt stick to plenum if you have to make more complicated Ethernet runs with going up a floor and a large distance horizontal across that floor.
If its locked so the OS cannot change it would be a NoGo for me after getting stuck with a QNAP device that works great but the proprietary OS is garbage. I would need the option to replace the OS with TrueNAS or some other mainstream free version
It’s possible to run a third party OS
NASCompares details how to run a FOSS solution in this recent video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/q5xso9Fuoty1lag.html
Thank you for the video. I absolutely loved the cadence. Very easy to follow
About to do this
So the hard part is really just fishing it through the crawl spaces
The beginning killed me
Big call out - avoid CCA cable and always go for 100% copper solid core cable to wire your house. CCA is a cheap alternative and widely use, it’s more difficult to work with (often snaps when trying to terminate)
Amazing cable management
So no need to connect both remote power control wires on each harness unless there’s a factory amp correct?
Hi, how big does the roll get once the shades are all the way up? Does it become really big like a couple of inches in diameter or not too much? Thanks
You should release a retail line of nerd bling.
