Great Job. The weak part to these movements is the intermediate setting wheels, as they strip easy. When I got about a dozen of these movements from a watchmaker's estate, half of them had striped wheels. And whoever designed that center seconds hand certainly didn't win any awards.

I am currently working on a Gruen 335 movement, actually 3 of them. They were all run/stop when I started. I cleaned, reassembled. Everything moved smoothly. I installed the pallet fork and then the balance and nothing. I cant seem to get the balanced positioned correctly to save my life. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. The balance staff is good on all of them, one if the pallet fork pivots may be gone but that was a parts watch anyway. At this point I would settle for just one of the three to work. Any thoughts or experiences?

Would you be able to help me find a crystal for my pop’s 1930’s Curvex? I have it because there’s nobody left in my pop’s lineage. I am his youngest son’s youngest son. My aunt and uncles and my dad have all past. My brothers have past. My pop marched from the beaches of Normandy all the way into Germany when he was shot in the neck/spine and sent home. The watch returned with him. My great grand poppy and great grand mommy bought him the Gruen before he left for France. A lot of parents would send their sons with a quality watch so they would have something to barter or buy their way out of their capture or to earn some good grace in a bad predicament. So yeah….the curvex is in its original red and white plastic box and it still keeps good time with the good filled 10k band that is my own perfect fit. We must have the same size wrists. I can’t wear it tho’, I can’t risk breaking off the hands. The little seconds hand at the 6 o clock position is SO tiny, but spins so smoothly. I hope you can get this comment and possibly help or point me to the right place to get a curvex crystal. Thanks for the great vide and channel. I’m glad to actually hear of a curvex fan.

Wonderful vid..and obvious that this Tudor was not serviced..and if so, poorly done, that's why I doubt it was. But WWT did an excellent job doing so. I do like the fact that he found generic hands to march what should have been. A beautiful piece. Love the vintage tudors. Great job. Well done....Looks cool on the new strap.

I have an odd story about Gruen. Gruen held a fascination with me, and got me interested in watches, because they were the first watch I remember my father owning, until it stopped working. He gave it to me to play with, and I guess I lost it. We lived in England at that time. Many years later, I was getting dental work done in Columbus, OH and kept getting weird vibes from the place. I did a search later that night and found out that dental office on Thurman Ave had been built by Dietrich Gruen and once housed the D Gruen & Sons/Columbus Watch Co factory 120 years previously.

Great job on this! Such a beautiful watch, but sad to think this was close to the end of the company in 1968. Would have been great if they just kept up with the cheaper Swiss imports and the quartz battery operated technology.

Great video, I’ve enjoyed all of your content that I’ve seen, thank you. The cap jewels on the pallet fork do serve a purpose in that they reduce end shake, which is quite helpful when adjusting a watch for positions. Too much end shake at the pallet fork and escape wheel can alter the alignment of the pallet stones with the escape wheel teeth when the watch changes position, influencing timing. Gruen, one of my favourite brands, chose to forego jewelling the centre wheel in many of their 17 jewel watches so they could jewel the escape wheel. This gave them the timing benefits of a jewelled escape wheel, whilst avoiding higher tax tariffs that applied to more highly jewelled movements.
