They really rolled out the wagon in series 15. I remember episode 1 was one of the most jam packed episodes of TG I've ever seen ( barring the specials of course . Its hilarious to hear jeremy say we try to pls those who want us to be sensible since they basically chucked it out the window 😂
@thefan97416 күн бұрын
I can believe them when they said they didnt film anything because its reflected in the series itself, which was a bit of a letdown. Only 2 good challenges was that jag train and jeremy driving in the xj across england. Did end on a good note with the India Special tho.

i was just watching a video about hammond and how his career played out in full, and then i come across this and i can't help but feel a sense of pride for these people. Even though i've never met them and probably never will, hearing the theme song played in this big of an award show really puts in perspective how monumental these people were at their heyday for culture in general. i've been watching Top Gear since 2003 or so and i never ever thought that this funny show that i like would actually reach a point were its enjoyed by millions and millions of people from every single walk of life. Thank you for everything boys.

It's a shame this episode didn't discuss the historical context of why these cars were so bad. First of all, cars from the GDR, communist Poland and the Soviet Union were shown. Countries that spent 30% of their annual budget on military. It is easy to guess why the Lada Riva had brake discs made of aluminum and the East German Trabant had a body made of the plastic material used to make kayaks.🤷🏻♂😅 Secondly, it was also about ideology. Something was happening in the Eastern Bloc countries that environmentalists and climate activists are trying to do today. What? Residents of the Eastern Bloc countries were told that they should have minimal living needs. Don't require good quality products that will be reliable and make life easier for these people.🤷🏻♂Thirdly - As British historian Guy Walters said... in the Eastern Bloc there was a socialist, centrally planned economy. There were no private companies and all factories in these countries, including car factories, were state-owned enterprises. These companies had a monopoly on the market in their fields. And when you have a monopoly, you don't have to try to do something good, because you don't have any competition on the market that can take away your customers. 🤷🏻♂For this reason, cars from the Eastern Bloc countries were so poor compared to those produced in Japan, the UK or Western Germany.🤷🏻♂

3 years of wages? no, at least 7 years for a used car and 9+ years for a new one if lucky to buy it. "lucky" is because like everywhere in ussr you have to stand in a queue if you want to buy no matter what. The queue's duration could vary from several hours (if you are buying some cheap s-ty food) up to many years (10 years is an average wait time) if you are buying a s -ty car or waiting for a small s-ty apt to live.
