I love my volvo sooooo much, i need to keep working on mine.. 06 xc70 really nice clean, 220k just had head gasket replaced and yeah......water in the oil, oil in the antifreeze...I am guessing they messed up some where, car drove about 400miles and then did not sound or perform right. i torn the top end down yesterday and almost ready to lift the head....When i removed the cam cover i knoticed tons of carbon buildt up near both edges piston 1 and 5 maybe?. So must be the cylinders exhaust is getting into head as well. This is my first volvo rebuild. I am hoping everything is fine with bottom end. My motor is in car and i was hoping to not remove and replace.

Hoping to pull the head completely off today and see the cylinder walls and and head domes, I guess run a couple oil changes after rebuild, and clean rest water out of here and there. I do not want to get into pulling the pan. Any pointers to look for or address along the way appreciated. Disabled and working in the grass, would probably be 100% times easier to remove and rebuild I know 😅

great job and i think you forgot to put in a new crankshaft seal cause you reinstall the thf GS gears and there was no crankshaft seal on the oil pump housing and it fell in to easy the way you install it without a prober tool. hope you catch that before you put the engine back and cause more oil leaks on the effort you put in . its just my opinion. good luck

so is it possible to have a clunking in the subframe? I have literally changed everything besides the subframe bushings and still have a clunking sound. It isn't as bad since everything else has been changed out but I still have a clunk and it is driving me mad lmfao. my car is just shy of 204k miles so it was on my to do list anyway.. I just hope thats the clunk lol

Great vids dude. I've owned and maintained swedish cars since 1987. No vids back then, just Haynes manuals that were more confusing than a jigsaw puzzle. 4 Saabs and 4 Volvos later I still love working on my P2 chassis '07 S60 and '07 V70. While I'm not a professional mechanic I have worked on Asian and American cars. I really dig how you limit the talk to specifics and your eloquence, not to mention cool background music. I would be more likely to play Otep as background but hey I'm enjoying the vids.

Doesn’t the car throw error codes as you removed the EC dampers? I would think a new set of OE dampers would be preferable over BC Racing stuff…I may be biased working for the shocks developer 😄

Hi, my friend. I recently bought a 2008 Volvo S60 2.0T with 60,000 miles and all the maintenance records. However, the engine fan is not turning on after using the car. When I switch off the car, I can hear the coolant boiling. What do you think I could do

I was fixing an exhaust rattle on my v70r and I saw that bracket of doom or whatever and assumed I was like missing a hanger or it was something incorrect with the aftermarket exhaust design. It seemed impossible that an exhaust was ever supposed just rest on a bracket like that.

I was going to do all that until I saw the cost in parts. I bought a maxjax M7K lift instead, after I pay that off I'll start buying parts. With subframe out of the way its a great time to swap the power steering lines if theyre original.

So glad I found this channel. Im in the process of stockpiling parts for my own R build. Ive got a bone stock 2005 6 speed S60R with 144k that ive had since 2017. I had a buddy who was a Volvo master tech go through it and it ran trouble free until a little over a year ago. I developed a misfire I couldn't track and I've decided to now is as good a time as any to build it the way ive always wanted to. I plan on doing most of the upgrades as this guy, minus the manual swap, so I'll be coming back to these videos over and over again. 👍🏻

The sound of your car is really childish. it's a nice respected brand and its a station car. putting that exaust on it, that makes such a terrible kit car sound makes it a junk for 14 years old. the sounds does not come from the engine, but from a bad exaust. that makes it cheap and childish. check the sounds of a really powerfull cars, they sound different not like this.

I have 06 V70 with the same engine. I see you didn't do the timing belt. At 120K that's recommended service. Also the fuel filter is supposed to be done. I didn't know changing the plugs or oil would be so easy. Getting the spark plugs changed gave it a nice boost and I read some guy saying that a fuel filter change he did on his V70 also gave a few extra HP!

$3K for all those major repairs is a steal in my eyes! I own a 2006 Mazda 3 rn and in my 2 years of ownership have spent just under $9K on both major and random shit, not including replacing all of the fluids, filters, plugs and so on. And all I have to show for it is a knocking engine, aftermarket engine mounts and sway bars. I think imma get a S60R 😅

Excellent video. I really enjoyed it. I changed the spark plugs for the first time on my 2005 XC70. I did not remove the strut bar as could get a 1/4" ratchet under the turbo pipe. Like you, my plugs 1 and 5 snapped in half on removal. The previous owner had Bosch Platinums x 4 and one NGK installed 🤷🏾‍♂️. The oil change I do mine the same way but since I do not have a garage or even a driveway I let my mechanic tackle the strut mounts. When I first got the car the first service they did the ATF and the top engine mount.
