Fascinating. Thanks for sharing. I think you could go even further with the grading. ATANASIO+MARTINEZ use a range of cameras both professionally and for pleasure ranging from Arri Alexa 65 to RED 8K VV to Canon 5D, SONY A7, LEICA M (Typ 240), all the way to iPhones and GoPros. We've been shooting commercials for the past 25 years and started as short film-makers shooting on Clockwork 16mm Bolex cameras from the 50's. We recently shot about 95% of an entire high-end commercial using 6x iPhones as a plethora of add-on lenses plus various toys including microscopic lenses to telephotos and a bunch of anamorphic adaptors, many from SANDMARC and BEASTGRIP and several others vendors. Shooting on 4K and some HD for the Slow-Motion, the iPhones were pretty amazing and the pro edit and post-house we worked with couldn't easily tell that this wasn't shot on Alexa or RED. So exposed and lit correctly, the iPhone is undoubtedly capable of generating incredible material. And furthermore we were using iPhone 12 Pro Max's and 14 Pro Max's so you don't even need the latest models to be honest. We'll be sharing the final result soon which includes a full colour grade from Company 3 in London.

If you really want to emulate film, use a film camera. They are inexpensive even if you buy a good vintage camera. I shoot performing artists and have used my iPhone 14 ProMax and the Olympus digital OM-1, and I edit both in Photoshop desk top 2024. If you shoot in RAW format in both platforms, you can get outstanding results. The best reason to shoot with a digital camera is you have the full sensor size despite the lens you use. In iPhone platform, you have have 48 mp only in 1X camera.
@andybalfre21119 күн бұрын
As the video said you can always add a lens or 2 to your kit which allows you to use the 48 MP main lens. I have a 2x and the new 6x lens. The only limitation is it is difficult to hold staeady and you need to use a tripod
@Sandmarc9 күн бұрын
Hey there! The great thing about SANDMARC's lenses' is that you can attach them to the iPhone's standard lens in order to shoot on different focal lengths! This way you can still utilize the 48MP sensor while gaining the versatility of shooting with our external lenses, like our wide lens, telephoto, and fisheye lenses! This also allows you to shoot RAW on the 48 MP, so you can edit them to edit them to emulate film. It is important to note not everyone wants to spend extra money on a film camera, or has time to develop film - Here at SANDMARC we show iPhone user's that their iPhone is capable of most anything professional cameras can shoot with the right technique and creativity.

I edit my iPhone images in the Polarr app. You can apply LUTs or filters to achieve film looks. You can also save your edits as filters. The biggest issue with shooting on an iPhone is trying to get a shallow depth of field.

I sharpen knives and wear a neck mount for POV scenes. I often want to bring the knife edge up to the camera and shoot it super up close but the camera seems to have a mind of it's own and pops in and out of focus whenever it wants. It's ruining my takes and is very frustrating as it's the main reason I spent 187 BILLION dollars on an iPhone 14 pro max. What am I doing wrong?
@Sandmarc15 күн бұрын
Hey there, that does sounds frustrating! Unfortunately, with the iPhone camera, there is a minimum focusing distance your subject has to be to keep the shot sharp. So if your knife gets any closer than that, Macro Mode is enabled so you can get an ultra close-up that is sharp. Now you could try moving the knife slower to the camera, that way it is has time to focus more precisely as the distance changes.. or you could try tapping and holding the screen till you enable A/E Focus. That will lock the camera to focus at THAT precise shot when it is a close up. We would also recommend filming on a third party camera app! Like BlackMagic Camera app, which is free as of today.

@@Sandmarc thanks. For a while there I was thinking it’s meant only for still shots. But yesterday I also discovered that it works best in wide angle mode best which has stabilised it a bit. It’s hard to make knife sharpening interesting so I’m trying to aim at taking great shots to keep the viewer entertained. I’ve actually downloaded a few apps but the complexity gives me too many ways to ruin the shot as well. I like to keep things simple wherever possible. Appreciate the response. Not many companies respond to us. Points awarded.
