That is an old school firecracker . That is from the seventies or eighties . The new ones would not rip the can open .

Man my butt cheeks were cramped up when I saw you light that so close, LOL!!! I couldn't warn you quick enough because I try to caution folks who get these that the red's fuses go off at warp speed. The black ones are fast but these red ines bite real hard. I was lucky to be gifted an unopened box of these about 25 years ago and really lucked out since the box had the all black with white snowflake crackers. Blew a decent chunk of wood fence off with one. Not bad for a 1 5/8 incher! I and a friend of mine could only think of two reasons for the fast fused red version; they were meant to be braided into quick firing straps or meant to be tossed loosely into a fire at Chinese temples. They're Mammon brand, are 100 count to a box and probably early to mid 80s.

Fun fact: theres a much bigger and louder version of these called a 'thunder-flash' used by the military to simulate explosions, i used to get them for 87p + tax each when i bought 500 of them at once, used to use a heck of a lot of them in training with a private security business. might be worth a look just to have one in the collection. manufacturer is TLSFX, and theye avaliable in assorted 'power' levels ranging from 3g of flash powder, right upto about 15g of flash powder.

Big George! A stickless rocket with a heavy report. I bought all a store had $1.85 a six pack. Quality is suspect. I didn't know what they did so I lit one off on a dirt driveway. My ears were ringing and my wife and I were picking gravel out of our hair. The next year they were called Big John and I haven't seen them since. Nice pickup.
