Hello KZread! My name is Jeremy Dack and I am Dack's Electronic Repair. I am a one-man computer and cell phone repair business here in small town Iowa.
I love fixing things! In fact, I have been taking things apart and putting them back together since I was a kid. Lets just say there were many casualties along the way, but those electronics gave their lives in order to make me the repair wizard I am today and I think that is beautiful.
Since then, I have repaired thousands of cell phones, tablets, and computers and I have a secret for you. Anyone can do it with a little guidance and that is why I am here. I am going to give you step-by-step instructions on how to fix your stuff. I am not saying it is easy and you do risk adding to the graveyard my younger self created! If you are okay with that risk, and follow my videos, you will be successful with your repair.
Thank you for checking out my channel and good luck!

I must have miss the replacement screen clip
13:45 “nice big balls” 😂
That is the scientific term!
thank you!
You're welcome!
Where can i find this part
Just do a search on Amazon for A71 5G Charging port replacement.
Where do you get one?
Amazon is the best place to find it
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
10 hearts right back at you, plus 10 more for being a fan! You get 20 awesomness hearts!
What is the iphone se 2016 battery model if i may ask
I don't usually search by model number so I am not sure.
can you skip putting on the tape? what is the purpose of it?
The tape on the battery keeps it in place so it doesn't bounce around in there. You can often reuse the old stuff or regular double sided tape is fine to use as well.
No luck. Phones been sitting for maybe 8 months, with dead battery. You know if that has something to do with it?
And I want to add another thing. When I plug the charger in, it does make the sound that it's charging. Also plugging phone into USB on my PC, my computer does see (Recogize)the phone, but that's it.
It sounds like the screen is either bad or not plugged in.
@@dackselectronicrepair Thanks. I'll try again
Worked for me. Only thing is, you could remind people to plug in battery for final time.
Good call!
@@dackselectronicrepair but it was very helpful! Thank you for making it.
How expensive is that.
You can get the screen for 30 to 100 depending on quality.
I found a little trick when getting that top speaker assembly off. Near where the cable with the plus sign and north of the closest screw hole there is a rectangle notch, squeeze your tweezers together and put them in that rectangle and rotate them up and voila! It's the same with the bottom speaker set too just on the left bottom hand side. I'm just lifting it up a little then using that blue thing you have to move it out.
Great tip!
Thank you for not giving us a biography before your video, and getting straight to the point
Thanks!
Would the gm chemical flux paste work to hot air the hdmi port off
As long as it is flux for electronics then it should work
At first I slowed down the video 50 % to make sure I saw everything correctly. But then you sounded so drunk that I couldn't stop laughing and saw nothing cause of the tears. Great voice in normal speed, quick and easy video, love it! Thank you for making this!
Public service announcement, don't drink and thermal paste! That is hilarious. thank you!
Where’s the whole top end in that? I thought I missed something but that one clearly doesn’t have it, it holds the whole thing on in mine and I no longer know how to proceed after the 5 minutes mark
What do you mean by the top end? The fan assembly is on the top.
I replaced my sticks on my controller, but my right stick won't reach full outer range when it's all fit back together. If I take off the trim ring around the joystick, it reaches just fine. I've replaced the joystick cap and the trim ring and it's the same thing. Any idea what's going on here?
Are you using the stock joystick? Some of thr aftermarket ones or ones from a ps4 or xbox one are just a bit too big
Hey man, great video. Camera works great now! However... now the main button (Touch ID button) isn't working at all. What have I done??
The button flex cable goes through the screen display cable but make sure it is plugged in under the plate.
For my moto G power 2021, I put a swapped out my phone case for a "stronger" one with better protection - the three layers. And boy was that a mistake. I've only used the phone case for less than a week. At first I noticed a vertical dotted line near the right side of my screen and thought nothing of it. Now my phone has purple stripes when starting up and now the entire screen has a green tint all the time. Did a hard restart, don't think it's a software issue. I never dropped my phone. I think the phone case just squeezed my phone too tight and I think it damaged the internal screen components :/ I read that there is nothing you can do because it's a tiny piece under the LCD screen that controls the color tint. Do you think there is a fix for this or is it a lost cause?
A new screen should fix that issue. It sounds like the lcd is damaged like you said.
Great job! Is that just regular flux that is already heated or is it a liquid flux? Could you share where to buy with a link to a retail outlet of your choice?
Thank you, it is no clean liquid flux. It comes in a syringe and I believe I got it from Amazon.
How much money lipryesime
How much money for what?
Do you know where I can get the screen because i dropped my phone and only the screen needs to be replaced.
I get mine from MobileSentrix.com
Thanks ... just fixed my phone following your tutorial. I feel like i saved myself $500..
My pleasure! That is why I do these videos!
No amount of heat gun is getting the old solder out any other advice?
Try using some flux and melt some leaded solder into the factory solder. That should lower the melting temp of the unleaded solder they use.
does it stay watertight after repairing it?
No and I would never trust that it is watertight from the factory either! Too expensive to test that idea!
What about the two wires that go onto nipples under the square box on the board in the corner?
Those are for the wireless.
@@dackselectronicrepairwhat wireless?
Mine might be the older version I can barely see it through the screen I was so fucking angry at the fascist fucking Nazis that are terrorizing innocent people with wireless weapons I smashed my fucking screen
Can I use isopropyl 70% alcohol for cleaning?
Yes it just takes longer to dry because it has more water content.
Isn't 450c too high?
You have to go pretty high to get the leadfree solder to melt.
@@dackselectronicrepair If you were to apply low melt solder onto it before using the heat gun, would it be at a different temp or the same?
@@OKBUDDY21 Yes you can try that for sure. If you flux it and melt leaded solder it should melt at a lower temp on the hot air.
Every video showing this was like, 5+ minutes long and full of talking. this one was straight to the point. Fast, but I can always slow it down. Gonna be handling this here in a week or so, so I appreciate this video, Dack.
Glad you enjoyed it!
18:37 It looks a bit messy (maybe the tip temperature is too low). But thank you for the video. It's helpful
I agree, I actually replaced my rework station after this video because it just wasn't functioning well enough. It would say it was up to temp but obviously wasn't.
Thank you so much
You're most welcome!!
I recently learned that Apple likes to solder their charging ports, I am just now trying to figure out how to solder, I've practiced on bread boards, very basic stuff. What would you say the skill level to do this is? Better yet where can I get better practice?
It is not a hard solder job because of the sight holes you have to line up and it is easy to see when each pad is done. The BIGGEST thing you have to watch out for is taking the old port off. You really want to use a hot air rework station and do not try and pull the old one off, you will pull the pads up with the port and you are in big trouble. The old port needs to be heated up enough that is basically falls off.
Where can we get a quality screen from where?
I get my screens from mobilesentrix.com
@@dackselectronicrepair wow they are very expensive on that site
Nice job
Thanks!
what is the name of that past you used
The flux?
Where did you get the battery, please?
I get my parts from MobileSentrix.com
One of the easiest to follow. Thanks for the help
Glad it helped!
Hi. Thanks for the tutorial. I managed to replace my charge port, but now my screen doesn't light up. The power button works, I can hear the welcome screen. I don't hear the tone telling me the phone is charging when I plug in. Can I have received a bad charge port, and will that kill power to the screen?
I would double check all the ribbon cable connections. The phone will power on even when the screen is not connected. It is also possible that you have a bad port, test it with the old one as well. Good luck!
Whats the best way to plug a screen into broken phone to recover data?
You can just plug the screen ribbon cable in like I do to test the screen first. That will give you a working screen to use to transfer data.
Brother how can i fix my ps4 controlla it will not charge i tried just about everything besides changing the M-bored... Now it do power on however it will not charge at all what else can it be ??? If anyone can help an fellow gamer out on how to...fix it myself.. And or can anybody donate a old dusty PS4 controlla or i can trade for something i may have something of interest to you off rip just to name 1or2 things i have a 1080hp gopro I also have a gold plated Michael Kors watch with the lynx I have to loose links from when I loosen it for my wrist for tight fitting or trade that and no longer in making so this is a relic it hold rare they're no longer in spin mean that they are no longer in rotation no longer will they be produced this can be a monolith or a heirloom that you keep in your family as I plan for what's planning to keep in mind but I'm not mentally attached to things so to say
Not sure what is going on. It could be the charging port or the battery. It is also possible the motherboard is bad and in that case you would just need to get a new one.
I just had my s 23 ultra fixed. The curved glass is horrible for cracking. I will upgrade to a flat glass 24.
Yeah you gotta be careful with the curved glass stuff. I always have a case that covers all the sides instead of just the top and bottom like most do
I was testing my phone before adhering the screen and its giving me an "iphone too hot" issue. I am in a 69 degree room and it's definitely not too hot. Any ideas?
I have had this happen on some Samsung phones and it is usually a battery warning thing. I would unplug the battery and press and hold the power button for a minute to drain the residual electricity. Then see if it works.
Can you provide a link to the new screen assembly you used here?
I purchase my screens from mobilesentrix.com
Good video, thanks!
You bet!
Is there a place i can take my controller into and they can do this for me?
I would think any place that repairs phones and computers would be able to do this. The problem you may run into is that it will cost more to have them do it then just getting a new controller!
@@dackselectronicrepair I see, thanks for the help
Do i need a flux that is separate from the soldering wire
While you do not "need" flux, it makes it much easier. It is separate and I like the no clean flux that you don't have to remove after using (which I do anyway).
Soooo....what about the screen?
I don't understand the question
I don't think the questioner realized you installed the screen, probably expected it to be like the earlier models where you had to separate the screen from the digitizer
@sameoldmphymel The title was for screen replacement. I have a broken screen. I was expecting a guide to how to replace the screen.
@dackselectronicrepair Sorry, I should have been more clear. I have a broken screen. The title of the video is for screen replacement. In the video, it was stated that the screen and assembly was going to be replaced. I followed all the nicely detailed instructions. There was nothing instructing how to replace the screen.
@@chriscote9054I see, I thought that assembly with the screen had to be replaced together now, like it would not be possible to replace only the screen. In my case that will be fine, they seem pretty inexpensive, maybe due to the age of the S10's now I see your point though.
Thanks for the video, I was able to successfully change the HDMI port. The only problem now is that the console no longer recognizes a controller. This was not the case before. I've tried 20 different cables and different controllers and even a new one from Amazon, nothing helps. Funnily enough, I can connect the controller via USB cable when the PS4 is in security mode. Repairing the database etc. didn't solve the problem either, when I try to reinstall the firmware via USB, I get the error message "SU-41283-8". Does anyone have any idea what I can do?
That is strange, I have not run into that problem before.
Maybe u forgot to put back some cables while taking the ps4 for hdmi port replacement
@@rubygem7386 This is a good point. If the bluetooth antenna was damaged or not reconnected this would cause your issue. But, it still should let you connect and play using a cable.
@@dackselectronicrepairI’ve got a issue where my ps4 slim reads that it’s there on my tv but there’s not any picture on the screen so I’m not sure what the issue is
