  A feminine culture, nearly all trans there are gay men who want to make a living from western perverts so many gay men do not have a choice but to transition (there is not a specifically gay tourism to Thailand) the other reason is that Thailand is not a country that has Judean-Christian culture and sees the exchange of sex very much different from us in the west. Its just a financial transaction for them, while we see prostitution as immoral in the west. Its only the last 50 years this has been going on, I would like to see the next 50 and see how all these Trans people have evolved, whether there is mass regret, mental illness and suicides, what they are doing now is just a quick fix for what will be a permanent fixture for them.

  @@nkwariThailand and Japan were the only Asian countries that has never been colonized tho. That's why both nations could preserve and developed its own distinctively unique cultures without interference from Abramic religion. I love how 95% of Thai population are buddhists which automatically means they're atheists; to believe in god and/or omnipotence is one of the biggest sin that ones can commit. Interesting how many Thais' values ware developed to be the opposite of its islamic neighbors' or the European colonizer's🎉 Their existance and prosperity proves that some values many took for granted isn't meant to be universal. While one cheesy phrase many Thais took for granted bc every parents will say it to their kids all the time: "straight, gay, trans, be whatever you want, just be good person for me" isn't prevalent in, say, Indonesia or Russia. I find that aspect of Thai culture very fascinating!

  As a Thai person, I can’t accept ladyboy. The government would rather allow this for the sake of the growth of the country than protect what is morally right. When sex is allowed, it then flows into the mistreatment of children and that’s why there’s so many problems with human trafficking and sexual violence. This is why perverted men come to Thailand.

  This was all quite accurate but the list at the end doesn't begin to take into account the enormous number of legal problems that trans women have in Thailand because of the almost complete lack of LGBT law and civil rights in Thailand. Trans women can't legally marry their husbands. They can't change their legal gender and title on their ID and Passport. They can't adopt. They can be barred from hotels and nightclubs wholesale because they are simply trans due due to no public accommodation law. There is incredibly weak discrimination law and Thailand's legal system has no stare decisis so cases each need to be litigated as an island. If you talked to some Thai trans people and asked them what are the biggest issues that need addressing you're going to be presented with many of these key issues.

  1:05 says that 5% of the population in Thailand is trans. Next at 1:15 it's 314,000. The population of Thailand is 72 million. 5% of that is 3.6 million. These two stats are therefore off by an order of magnitude from each other which is quite comical.
