  @@CunovonDurckheim it’s even better that hottentot. Hotties are good but have a kelpy flavour. I think blacktail is better and that’s why it’s a lot more difficult to shoot

  @@tacticaladventures4916 Very true. I do most of my scuba diving in a cold, poor visibility environment and none of my friends seem to understand why. Sometimes I question it myself but over time it’s become peaceful and just a part of my routine. Now when I don’t get out enough I go stir crazy!

  @@user-yl9rb4ki1x check online and search “mpa no take zones cpt”. Also don’t go diving alone for your first time spearfishing. A lot can go wrong. There’s lots of places. For an easy and fairly clear dive try millerspoint. I’m not sure if youd get fish there tho but itll get you accustomed to the sport. Also be sure to check the weather properly. You want waves 1m or less. Swell period atleast higher than 8seconds and a fairly less windy day. Have fun!

  PS if you are out far and struggling to see any special size hotties, go down and grab a couple of those red crabs that are everywhere, and maybe some urchin but crabs work best for hotties. Break the crabs up and place one under a rock in a clearing near a good ambush spot in the kelp and break the second one up at surface and drop pieces in . . . 2 minutes and any decent size hottie in the area will be on your bait. Thought of this technique because of how many large hotties tend to come in during cray season, the bait people use to draw crays out their holes also attract the fish and then if you watch enough international spearo vids you'll notice baiting is a common practice.

  I usually bait kolstert with breaking open mussels but I never thought of luring in hotties with crab. Very interesting!

  Well done!For that kind of environment try using a single band only..It's going to save you time reloading and it will prevent you from damaging your spear against rocks etc.

  brah, what you eating at the start of the video? also RIP Hangklip with all the footage people posting about crayfish there lately, no more good crays left there soon enough. If you can keep spots quiet, I`ll happily take you some place close by off camera where you can get big crays, pulled a 2kg pb there and all the rest are oversized, took a guy there for his 1st ever cray dive and he got big ones in 1m water, limit in 1 hour. Hangklip is over harvested because everyone and their chommie is there.
