Welcome to my channel!
A few Years ago I decided I wanted to start to actually buy some of the cars and motorcycles I have wanted to try over my lifetime, life is too short to wonder if you should have bought that bike or car!
Here are just a few of the cars and bikes I have tried out and reviewed now, Please try to remember...
I OWN ALL THESE BIKES/CARS

I've just turned 60 & had mine for about a year. The only problem I have is getting a sore right wrist after a while, but that's probably more down to my riding style than the bike. I've wound the suspension settings right back & it's not too bad on reasonable roads, but once I get out on the 100km/h country roads west of here (I live in Brisbane, AU) it's very harsh. I'm going to take it to the guy who set up my Streetfighter V2 suspension & see if there's anything we can do without having to look at spring rates, valving, etc... Re: gear vs speed - I find on mine that at 60km/h (~40mph) 4th is the highest gear I want to be in & I generally don't pull 5th until 80km/h (~50mph) & 6th until 100km/h (~60mph). DO NOT buy the Chinese flyscreen! I got one for mine & right from the start I was concerned about the amount of flex in the bracket. As it turned out I was right to worry because on a subsequent trip out west, the bracket snapped in half in the middle of nowhere on day 2 of a 3 day ride & the display & flyscreen flopped over onto the bars. Luckily I was able to secure it until we got to a service station & bought some duct tape to properly secure it. I contacted the supplier & was told I'd need to pay $50 for a replacement bracket, so instead I repaired the broken one & reinforced it with metal plates - which worked really well until last weekend where it snapped again in a different place! I'm now going to order the genuine Triumph kit. At least if that one breaks I should be able to get some warranty support...
Agree that the Multistrada is probably THE 'unicorn bike'. I have a 1200s and it does everything brilliantly well. It's fast, cool, looks awesome AND is all-day comfortable. The only problem with the Multistrada is...Where do you go from there?! I had a Tiger 800 before, and when I swapped it for the Multi, it was like stepping off Ryanair and climbing aboard Concord. I've added a custom Sportster Forty Eight to the stable as it has more character than anything I've ever ridden and looks badass. Nowhere near as versatile as the Multi though.
As an old git, I just want a bike large or small, any bike as long as long as it's not a custom that I can ride for 30 miles or more before becoming a pain in the a**e.
@@Jones-xx2gc I can totally relate 😉
Sounds like you just bought the wrong bike lol
@@ianwatkins8583 that's probably correct, but you never really know until you try, and a 30 minute test ride doesn't always tell you everything. Great bikes in many ways, but perhaps not for me personally. But glad I had the chance to own one 😁
16:10 Hi there, I bought this tail tidy for my 2017 T100. Did you have any problems with your number plate contacting the rear tyre going over bumps etc?? Curious to know your thoughts..... thanks 👍
@@markthompson9684 it does look VERY tight I agree, but I didn't once have any issues with mine Mark
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes thanks Bro👍
@@markthompson9684 no worries 😉
Not sure what area your from but I have 1050r 2014 if you wanted to go for a ride and compare
@@StevenGoulden thanks Steve, but if you check the channel, I've had a couple of the 1050 Speedies already..... And love them to bits!
I found the same with the quick shifter. Quite a slow, delayed shift and a bit of a lurch. Smooth gear lever under foot yeah but not a slick change.
Glad it's not just me then 🤣 thanks for the comment
Thanks for the review, its good to hear a broad spread of reviews as everyone is different. I'm 57 & have a 22 Tuono V4 non Factory & Speed Triple 1200RR. Loving both & extended the the warranty on both. When I get board I might convert the 1200RR to RS and have the electronic suspension without the harshness of the original RS. The quick shifter on the RR is seamless, even at 30mph.
Thanks for the comments Richard 😁
Awesome review, really down to Earth with no BS! keep up the great work 😄
Thanks for the comments 😁
The Mighty Triumph Speed Triple 1200RS Test Ride! - Please Don't Forget To LIKE/SHARE/SUBSCRIBE As It REALLY Helps The Channel
Love mine. I’m 60, 5’8” and find it super comfy and can and do ride it all day, especially with the cruise control allowing you to relax every now and then. My suspension was really stiff when I bought it but a five minute tweak to the Triumph manuals ‘comfort’ settings makes everything much more manageable
Good to know, cheers Glen 😁
Agree great bike , poor review in my opinion , but that just my apinion
@@t9wrighty Why poor? did I not cover everything? was it not objective?
I'm on a aprilla tuono factory with the electric ohlins and its really comfortable ive also owned the 1200rs two years ago very stiff on bad roads but I liked the finish the looks, I do think the street triple rs is probably a better road bike , try the aprilla tuono it's pretty much perfect ❤
Had the 1000cc Tuono V4 last Year, loved it! video in the channel 😉thanks for the comments Neil 🙂
I wish that Yamaha would completely re style the MT10 as it is ugly. I also have had a few speed triples and I would stop at the last 1050 although I love the look of the 1200. You didn’t mention the Tuono as an alternative. That would be my choice in this genre.
They ruined the Tuono for me when they changed the Colour scheme, and put on a Red seat! but this next generation that's come out looks much better, had the 1000cc V4 Tuono and tested that on the channel too, great bike!!! - Thanks for the comments Andrew 😁
I almost broke my head. Thank you for the video
Glad it helped 😁
Liskeard?
Oh Yes 😁
Have you ridden the new street triple? What do you think about the two?
Must have top box or panniers. What mount is onthis one?
Not sure sorry, think it was a Givi, but the bike has sold now 🙂
Yes ala8rs are useless. Ignored
Can get a top box mount?
Yes plemty out there for the CB1300 😁
10:11 smother now with the new tarmac 😉
I have one a k6 black. Owned it for 14 years. 93 ft pounds of torque goes to 145mph pretty quick and have toured to Spain and Portugal. Mainly to Moto club Faro. Top bike. I do own a cruiser too for laid back stuff.
Sounds like you have a perfect set up Steve 😁
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes My next bike will be an enduro from the 70,s or 80,s due to getting a little nostalgic and going full circle to where I started. I like to work on my bikes. We all had to dothat back in the day due to lack of money. Nice video keep them up.
@@stevedunn5546 Cheers Fella 🙂
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes I do intend to keep both other bikes as well though. They are now part of me. The 14 brings a grin to my face ;)
@@stevedunn5546 Always a look back and smile bike for me 😁
Simple get the 2.0 petrol. Why they made that size car with 1.6 is bizarre, its underpowered. The Japanese always make the best model for their own market , Dualis > Qashqai. It is a 2.0 CVT but not bad power/weight ratio.
Agreed the 1.6 Petrol is very underpowered, even the 1.4 Petrol Mokka is a much better choice
I've a k6 owned it for 14 years a keeper.
Amazing Ride 😁
Favourite 'sporty' bike I ever owned is my monster. Highly under-rated they are.
Agreed, very underated and huge fun! 😁
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes Well, we say under-rated, but they did manage to sell 350,000 of them :)
@@rtpwyk Odd how the last time I saw One..... was when I was riding this One 🤣
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes yeah, Kawasaki sells half a million bikes every year. So, I guess the monster is a drop in the bucket at 350K in 30 years.
ACF50 is safe on polymers and rubber according to the maker. So you could have maybe put it on those grips as well.
I'm going to soak the bike in it this Year 🤣
The most gorgeous bike ever made .
Looks very decent!
Best I've seen so far for sure! 😁
Where is the update?
Such a stupid and uninterested review . More worried about his earplugs then the bike
Thanks for the comments 😁
Nice. I'm a chrome lover. I live in Australia. I've got a bike in the shed lathered in chrome. It hasn't had the luxury of living in a dry environment, despite what you might think. It's lived for most of its 9 years in the sub tropics, by the sea, which is a recipe for rust. Now it's living in a dry summer/ humid winter environment. The previous owner ingeniously winterised the bike simply with WD 40. Yes, it's a PITA to clean down when the weather warms up, but there is not a spec of rust or deterioration of any sort on the bike. The chrome looks like it came out of the factory yesterday.
Good to know David, thanks for the comments 😁
Really usefull content. Thanks for the info on NOT needing to buy a resistor for the Hyperflash.
Thanks for the cooments 😁
They did the Baja Orange in 2023 - sexy AF (ok, biased as I have one) ;-) Best naked period. Handles amazing, and sounds amazing once you put a pipe on it too.
The handling is amazing I would agree 😁
Gorgeous. And a bargain. These are rare as hen's teeth in NZ. Not too much chrome at all. It's a classic. And it has the Arrows as well. Plus luggage. The screen is fine if you actually want to ride somewhere further than around the block. Lucky devil.
Thanks for the comments 😁
The next model yaris are very rusty on the back ends
Yes they can be prone to rear subframe corrosion for sure
I wished all motorcycles looked like this harks back to all the shiny chrome etc of my early 70s cb 350-750 models
It's somewhat subjective I guess, and if you have a decent garage to keep it from pitting! thanks for the comments 😁
Had the 2018 Triumph speedmaster with loads and loads of chrome, it´s a full time job to keep the pitting and rust from them, even when just using as a summer bike. These most definitely are not bikes you just ride and put away, you have to be meticulous (and I was) with the constant cleaning and oiling, and they don´t agree with standing outside even when under cover.. I spent more time cleaning that bike than riding it, at least this Honda has alloy wheels instead of chrome spoked wheels .. but never again will I have a bike with any chrome.
@@34979Charlie Totally agree, Chrome on a new (retro) bike can be a nightmare, and almost tries too hard to look like a classic, not something I would have chosen new from a showroom, but at this price I couldn't resist 😁
Did you do a HPI check before purchasing? It may be cheap for a reason.
Yes I ALWAYS do a full HPi check on anything I buy, and it came back clean on this bike, but thanks for the advice 😀
great buy
Cheers Robert 😁
I am Following ALL of these great videos. Thank You.
Glad You Enjoyed The Series Dez 😁
I just started watching this series. I had a carbed one for years and this brings back some great memories. The Bird really is a Superb Bike in many respects IMHO.
Totally agree, you can't get much better for the money!
I had a carbed Blackbird for about 9 years. It was in a sort of wine colour ; 'Candy Muthos Magenta' I think. It was a great bike with easy speed, good handling and it was very reliable. Unsurprisingly it did drink a bit of fuel and needed a number of replacements for chains, sprockets, pads and tyres. For a bike like a Blackbird though, that was to be expected. What a bike that was. Thanks for these videos.
Still my favourite project so far 😁 thanks for the comments ☺
Lovely cheap bike mate
Tell me about it 😃
I think, particularly for the money paid, that is a well built and reliable bike . Its a proper bike. Well done. As, you said, maybe I am nitpicking here though, the amount of chrome parts is the main downside. A cracking bike though.
Thanks Dez 😁
Yep. Nice bike at good price. I think one of the criticisms of this year was a small fuel tank? Made it larger shortly afterwards. I used to have a 2016 model in yellow - my favourite colour. Not popular at the time but I reckon they are going to be very popular soon.Prefer the original twin exhausts for that "classic" look myself. Good buy! 👍
Thanks 😁
I rode the Speed 1200RS back to back with the previous gen Speed 1050 RS. I preferred the 1050. So I bought one like you unseen but from Laguna motorcycles in Kent. That's when the nightmare began. The battery was flat as a pancake on delivery and the gearbox was fkd as 3rd and 4th gears failed after about 120 miles with only 1,300 miles on the clock. Problems started with false neutrals and jumping out and back into gear even on the most gentle of roll ons from 2-7k revs. In the end after being pissed around by dealers and Triumph for ages almost 8 months, I found a competent Triumph dealer in W. Yorks and they stripped and rebuilt the whole gear box. They had repaired quite a few with the same gearbox problem. All the other dealers including Laguna didn't want to know. Laguna were AWFUL. It cost well over £2k to repair. It runs ok now and is great to ride but tbh I have lost faith in the Triumph brand and really should move it on. But yes the 1200RS felt very light and turned and dropped into bends so easily, it felt more like it's smaller 765 Street Triple RS sibling. But I just couldn't get on with the 1200 engine. Yes it has 180 bhp, the bike was fast, but it needed to be revved more (8-9k revs) compared to the 1050RS to get it to go by which time you were riding at insane speeds on public roads. Plus I felt the suspension was firmer on the 1200RS, jarring, but this might just have been suspension settings. Great on track but UK roads? No. Although the Ohlins on the 1050RS felt more compliant, I had a softer Ohlins rear spring fitted to my 1050RS which has made a huge improvement not only to comfort, but having it set up by a good local suspension place, it now rides turns very easily like a 765 Street Triple RS but it still feels totally planted on the road which I felt the Street Triple RS didn't when I rode a 2019 bike. Anyway yes yours is a lovely looking bike. Shall look forward to your ride video of it. I much prefer the dash of the 1050RS as well. I didn't like the 1200 dash at all. Also the 1050RS is better for carrying luggage and pillion as it has a pillion seat and optional Triumph grab rail. I think the rear subframe is a touch longer. I like the twin high level exhausts as well which is an iconic look of the Speed Triples. Re the red trellis subframe, yeah possibly, but best to leave yours as is, ie std. Not worth having it repainted. And yes you are dead right the 1200RR is a fugly bike. Shame Triumph couldn't have just given the 1200RS electronic suspension like KTM did with their SDR 1290 Evo. I rode the SDR 1290 gen 3 before the EVO came out to compare with the Speed Triple RS and BMW S1000R and it was the best of the bunch imho but I just couldn't get over KTM's reputation for reliability. As it happened for me my Speed Triple was to prove a nightmare. Wish I had bought the SDR 1290 on refection. Oh well. ATB.
Thanks for the comments Alex, I have heard the 1050 gearboxes are made of chocolate! lots of horror stories, that's the main reason I never bought One myself, even though a lot of people would agree, in many ways it's the better Speed Triple! ride along video coming soon 😁
@@Budget-Cars-And-Bikes Thanks for your reply. Yes I would agree that the gearbox on the Speed Triple 1050 RS is weak. Maybe it was the addition of a QS that did it as the two not really compatible with each other although I didn't use the QS on mine and still don't. Maybe the 1st owner realised there was a problem and got rid. My bike is mint otherwise. Been out on it today and even 148bhp on a bike that weighs 190kg it flies. Mine handles beautifully now and the burble from the triple engine through the Arrow cans is addictive. I think if I knew what know now prior to buying it, I wouldn't have bought it, but the KTM SDR1290 Gen 3. I wouldn't have lost any money as the price of those new has now rocketed. Also possibly a Tuono V4 1100 factory as Wheels motorcycle in Peterborough were offering them new for touch under £13k. They couldn't give them away. Now they are £17-18k and £13k buys you a 2-3 year old one with 10k on the clock. But my biggest grip with the Aprilia Tuono was there out dated dash, small and NEVER a fuel gauge. Come on Aprilia are you serious in this day and age 21st century? Anyway enjoy your 1200RS. How long do you think you'll keep it? ATB
@@alexmorgan3435 I have considered the KTM1290 too in the past, but I have heard so many horrible stories about KTM that I have never been brave enough, even a close friend had the Gen1 SuperDuke and that has been a total nightmare from day One! But maybe in the future, I don't imagine I will keep the RS too long, as I do tend to move bikes on quickly, there are so many still to try 😁
Hi I know nothing about this model but WOW! what a looker gr8
Thanks 😁
Nice looking bike.
Cheers Darren 😀
4.18 you paid 3k did you not?
Yeah you got me 😂
Id be the opposite and looking for a screen to fit. Maybe Im a real world rider?
