Mr Pfeffer seemed horrible and so ungrateful. The actor who played him did a great job in making me loathe him

I have to say I really hated Pfeffer. Although I felt bad that he had to abandon his fiance and find a way to live among the chaos between two families, he was still major jackass and I hate that he felt entitled to basically take away Anne's desk all cause he didn't know that "childish pass time" would turn into a major piece of history that told not just Anne's story. but everyone who lives in hiding including himself. I also hated Mrs. Van Pels who was also quite entitled and rude, to put down Anne and pretend that the kids don't understand the severity of the situation which maybe they didn't, but they knew it was severe and it still effected them just as much as it did the adults just in separate ways. The lack of empathy and understanding of these two characters makes it very hard to feel sorry for them. There is a major lack of empathy in all the adults who were in the annex and I will say with the absence of the Van Pels who were the ones who caused most of the drama things probably wouldn't have been so chaotic.

The scenes between Peter and Anne are more deep than you think they are.....in the diary, Anne is always saying that Peter is quiet and he thinks he is inferior and hates being a Jewish....she hates his thoughts but time by time you get old enough to realize that Peter was way mature than his age...he basically knew what was going to be their end and he had accepted it....Anne was way younger than him...she was too innocent to understand where life had taken them...the reason why between their talks, Anne is cheerful, full of life and hope while Peter just agrees with whatever she says knowing that telling her the reality will only make him fall in Anne's bad people list in which she kept her mother ( just because she tried to explain her how miserable life was).

We read the diary of Anne Frank in school in the 1970’s. I was 12. We were taught things they don’t like to teach now. History repeats itself that way.

My only criticism of this would be that the author Melissa Muller had no evidence that the person who betrayed the people in the annex was Lena Hartog (the cleaner) & her real name was used & she probably has family still living today so it’s unfair to them as well. Research that has been done since the book & this film shows that Lena Hartog probably wasn’t the one who betrayed the annex plus the Anne Frank house withdrew their endorsement of this film because they didn’t believe that it was Mrs Hartog.

She was just a little girl. Sixteen years old. When I was sixteen, my biggest worry was passing the drivers license testing so I could drive. What this little girl endured, is unspeakable. And it all must never be forgotten or denied. How ironic that Anne only wanted to live free and to have her voice heard in her writing, and that her diary is so widely known and read today. In a way, I believe she's achieved both of those goals. Everyone should see this movie.
