Nice preview. Couple of questions about the water for people who know the course… 1. Does it get choppy or is it fairly protected? 2. I assume we’re fighting current at some point depending on the tide? 3. Race site says average water temp is 68 - how wide does that swing year to year? Starting to visualize the race!!!
thanks for switching to YT - we get notifications that we monitor here whereas Facey can be too noisey 1. Nicely protected due to the enclosed nature of swim (high winds can change that but unusual to happen) 2. Our athletes said no currents were not that strong but slightly harder work stretch between 0.7 - 1.5 3. Hard to answer this as only have feedback from the race days - spoiler alert - expect a wetsuit swim ;-)
Like @coachstevemoody mentioned, our athletes have yet to encounter rough water in Kalmar. I would fully expect a swift swim as long as you can sight well. No currents to report on our end, either. I would fully expect a wetsuit swim in the Baltic! All the best and please let us know if you have any more Qs. Kalmar is truly a stunning venue. Enjoy!
excellent video Steve, thanks for the recommendation. all signed up for next year now!
Good man - make sure to subscribe as plan to do some live free training q&as in lead up to next years events - you and your mates don’t want to miss out !
First 70.3 in the morning. Thanks for the tip about the general wind direction. Will be glad to know I’m not going too slow at the start, it’s the wind
Welcome and have a great race
Thank you
Welcome
awesome detail as usual - love the fact you are bringing in other coaches now too
Yeah and have more great guys lined up - excited about the partnership
Great you are sharing this us - thank you
Hope you enjoy the journey
This was great!
Glad you found it useful - be sure to share with your training buddies/clubmates so we can help them too if racing LP
Love this - thanks Coach
Welcome
Great video. With my first 70.3 being this weekend, this is really helpful!
Glad it helped! Let us know how you get on!
Hi - do you know if there is an option for a swim warm up morning of race?
Not an option from the looks of things
What was the total weight including wet suit and other bags ?
Came in around 23kg but in the end I just left wetsuit (extra protection around derailleur) and some training gear in the box
If I can’t fit in an early morning workout, I add it to my work calendar as appointment later in the day. No one ever asks what kind of appointment!!😂
Love this - “Turbo real estate meeting” BLOCKED 🚫
Love the duck reference!
🦆
Yes work can really get in the way otherwise
Yup those conference calls are truly life draining
Mornings are key
Absolutely
Great video! Thank you for the tips.
Very welcome - have an awesome race season!
Oh and be sure to check out the rest of my content - plenty of other dynamite stuff up on my channel 👍🏻
Hi there Coach! There is lots of talk about wetsuits for Ohio! We heard that REGARDLESS OF RACE DAY TEMPS, you can wear a wetsuit but you have to start after all the non-wetsuit racers and are not eligible for awards. We also heard that you still get an official time/medal. Is that accurate? Thanks!
Yes that is correct and also another factor is that you are not eligible for AG awards and/or WC qualification
Super helpful, thanks!
Very welcome - remember to share with your mates and have a belter of a race in Spain!
Thank you for the video Steve. This will be my first ever Ironman attempt and the walkthrough video is very helpful and valuable.
Forewarned is forearmed my friend - have a blast in Copenhagen - it’s a great course!
thank you sir
Most welcome
Awesome feature - thanks for sharing
It’s a keeper for sure
Great to know this is an option
Welcome as usual
Hey Steve. Well done. Just get back on it. For Hamburg last year I got a flu in January and somehow another in February. Lost nearly 3 weeks but nailed the rest of my training I got better results than what I was expecting. Maybe it was to do with your 5 🌟plan.😊
The quality of the plan helped for sure baby!
I have just accepted that I am on holidays!!!!! Hence missing a few runs!!!! Well timed advice
Coach 👀 all
Thank you! Great video! You mentioned that people will assist us out of the water. Will you have wetsuit peelers just in case wetsuits are allowed?
Apparently not in this race … so just in case make sure you check out my top tips how to get out of a wet suit like a pro - video below & good luck in Sandusky kzread.info/dash/bejne/e2qDtKiPZKunlLQ.htmlsi=AroIZaeKiV4pl5-H
Super helpful! If anyone else like me is watching this before the race on Sunday, wishing you best of luck!
God speed Jimmy!!
Seeing any color other than green in TrainingPeaks is a real struggle for me. I’m slowly trying to overcome that.
it is a powerful driver but dont let it override common sense too pal ;-)
Great ideas
Thanks
Absolutely agree with this, especially for the age grouper who just want's to achieve an ironman finish. I'd probably even go a step further and say it's the problem I have with all of the common books/plans. They're generally just too proscriptive I find. Sure if you want to podium, or qualify for Kona, then you may need a dedicated plan written by a coach who understands your needs and can adapt it to reality on the fly. But the majority of us don't need to worry. If you miss a session, it's no big deal.
Yup all about being clear on your personal goal and applying a lot of common sense
Fair Play Steve....I think my left leg weighs 65kgs 😀! Love the honesty and the directon of your Vlog, Im sure everyone will love your irreverence 😁
Cheers buddy - no harm in just being myself methinks (Which was the exact reason I did not become a partner in those management consultancy houses - so it always works out best for me 🤣)
Thanks for the "kick up the ar$e" as usual
lol 😂
We are here to help! Please reach out with any additional questions 🤙🏻
Ferry kick off looks class!
I could not agree more!
Loved all 7 of this series - thanks CS
Welcome
Who fkg cares
Class
Thanks
This part is key !
Absolutely
Love the honesty. Just hope unfit can come in different shapes and sizes
It sure can
@CoachSteveMoody cool cause that race is a race I have looked at and might be interested in doing but I'll never see 70 or 77kg if you know what I mean
@@pa6600 but that’s the point this is my individual journey - 70kg approximately where I know I need to be for my goals/physical attributes (am a short enough fella 5’ 6) - that weight target is irrelevant to everyone else - what will be useful is how I (hopefully) get towards my race weight and others might pick up useful tips/strategies/laughs from those lessons I share
@CoachSteveMoody cool yea none of us made the very same but the end goal is similar. Yours a bit different do aiming for qualification which is totally awsome
Superb ❤
Thanks
Honoured and privileged you refer to me as one of your very clever marketing friends. Thanks for not naming me, hate the lime light.
Yes your anonymity is safe with me Mr Diggilo
I like this style. Natural and good to watch, thanks, Steve.
Cheers Ava - nice to let my coach-y hair (I wish) down for once 😀
Looking forward to this! I have IMTX on my radar as my first full! Mainly to meet the great CS!!!
Will be amazing when we make it happen!
