Pete Im very very new to bass guitar. Im rehabbing from a broken back and neck and I needed something constructive to do. I have been learning with bass TaB. I had to change to flatwound strings because the original strings were killing me.I have just subscribed to your channel. I LOVE this song. Thank you for posting this. I cant do it yet but ya know..lol

Great song. I love singing it. Reminds me of my late father who loved to sail & was fascinated by astronomy and Space Travel. I live on The Space Coast of Florida and am writing a concept album for my band about Time Travel…Faster Than Light (FTL) is the name if the band and our Debut Album still in Pre-Production is: “Formerly Known as The Timeless Band”

Agreed, timing not spot on and you can tell because the part I’m playing is not always drowned out. Numerous things we’re going wrong that distracted me and I thought about doing another take. Also probably should have practiced more. As is iften the case, I’m receiving these videos shortly after having transcribed the parts and before I really have them performance ready fir fear I’ll forget the parts before I get them down on a vid. I almost did another take, but was pressed for time. The record I play to is my metronome.. When play to a record, I listen to the instruments I am not playing and if I can hear my part, I’m either ahead of the beay, behind the beat, out if tune or otherwise playing a wrong note.. Same thing when I play to a metronome; if I can hear the metronome, one of thise things is wrong.. unless my part reats when the metronome is clicking, I shouldn’t hear it..

There are only 2 chord progressions in this song: 1. Intro chird progression & chords behind solo section are the same. 2. Chord progression behind the verses. There are no choruses & no bridges in this song. Demo of these two rhythm guitar parts starts at 10:25.. click on blue 10:25 to go straight there..

sorry but if this was a tutorial it really isn't that, you obviously are a fully proficient player, why not play the song in sections, going through the structure etc then go through it then play all the way through, it made no sense sorry but that how i found it Kind regards

Brian, I appreciate your comments. First, please note I have two videos for this song: one demonstrates how to play each section without the music playing in the background; the other, I merely play along to the record. Different people respond to different types if instruction. I can take numerous different approaches to teaching the same song. The beauty of one-on-one instruction is that I can tailor my communication to the learning style of each student. Many of my bass instruction videos were designed to reach a specific learning style. How to play each individual bass part in the song is demonstrated; the song structure and exact instruction on how to play each part usually are not. Also, in earlier videos I identified the note name and string and fret location of every note played. Many people gave feedback to talk less and just demonstrate because they are used to just watching the videos and the talking makes the videos too long and distracting. As a result if your feedback, I may in the future produce different videos on the same song, taking different instructional approaches in each. My emphasis on this channel has been accurate transcriptions communicated in the shortest video I can manage. You can call or text me at (321) 506-3033. Additionally, When I can to 500 subscribers, I plan on doing much more detailed and comprehensive instruction for club members. Thank you again for feedback and for subscribing. Sincerely, Pete Guitar Martin

1:01 1:21 1:52 6:15 are beginnings of important sections. Please note: I refer to the structure of the solo section as Part A, Part B, and then Part A again, but Part A the second time should be played only have as long as Part A is played the first time, and the video at least in one place mistakenly shows them as the same length. Also, the last stop is on an E NOT A. After stop on E on count 1, the bass rests the remaining counts of that measure and one additional complete 4-count measure (E 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4 A) before repeating Chorus Part B starting on an A and ending every other time with a glissando from D to E, section to the end of the song. Live Ending: 6:15 to 6:35.

Dang Nabbit: Correction to Em transposition. The single note part on acoustic guitar is on strings 2, 3 and 4 and played 4th string e. f#, g; 2nd string e, 4th string (g) implied only; 2nd string d; 3rd string b.
