    Not this set-up. I just rely on stock filter/separator up by engine. Keep in mind this about the most affordable lift pump to install. There's some very nice lift pump kits with filters, but now your paying $440-700 , plus having filters hang below the frame rail. I didn't want or seen a need for that for my needs. I pull a a 9200 lb 5th wheel camper with trailer behind that maybe 4-5 times a summer, then truck is parked. If it was a work truck hauling heavy equipment daily, then i would consider spending an extra $500 for the " good " stuff.

    I just installed one on my 05 duramax. Ignition wire just goes ro anywhere that turns on when u turn the key on, power goes to battery or where ever there is constant power, starter relay I just took a peice of wire stripped it and put it in one of rhe prong holes and pushed the really back in. Ground goes wherever. Have to run a wire to the pump, ground the black wire to the frame. Cut the lines and shove the hoses one. Be prepared to take a shower in diesel.

    Just picked up a 1974 Rotary 35 that came with an Autolite 2892 spark plug installed in it that has a center electrode that hangs out about .020 inch past the outer ring. Haven't tried turning the engine over with this plug in it for fear of damaging the apex seals. If the seals turn out to be damaged, do you know of anyone who might have replacements? Great video, very helpful.

  • @Howard-ur2rj

    Obviously someone tapped out the threads to 14mm instead of 12mm. The plug used for the 14mm conversion was NGK BUHW ( REPLACED BY BUHX ) which has the same reach as yr Autolite . .50 . Should work. Measure depths if worried about it. Replacement parts ?? Their ain't none. I have couple engines for parts.

    So if I’m understanding this correctly, the double relays allow the pump to only start once the key is in crank position and then it will stay running after the truck starts also? And like you said, it won’t run the first time the key is put in the accessory position or the next position where the glow plugs turn on correct?

    I did the same thing recently. I had used the welder for small stuff for the last 20+ years without trouble. I got involved with a charity that needed some welding done and overworked it. Testing showed that I had burnt some of the diodes in the rectifier. Ordered the new rectifier but it is no longer available. I ended up designing and building a new rectifier with larger diodes and a heat sink. I haven't really put it to the test yet but it is working great on a small test. I probably about doubled the duty cycle so I am really looking forward to using it again.

    I picked up a 35 yesterday. First rotary. Has a surface discharge sparkplug(I believe that's the correct term) like the one you've shown here. Can it be checked for spark? This thing is rough but it turns over. Only has 60psi compression but I'm moving forward anyway. Can spark be checked with a regular spark plug? Does this engine have points? If so, which side are they on? Clutch or fan? Thanks for any advice.!

  • @Howard-ur2rj
    @Howard-ur2rj2 жыл бұрын

    No points. CDI box under seat which under seat , prone to corrosion if left out in the weather. Use any spark plug to check spark. But ONLY use the oe service gap plug to run. The oe plug is very durable for cleaning , but ultra rare. Checking compression is kinda mute due to the design. There is a procedure . Pump 2 stroke oil ( lots ) into plug hole and turn engine over by hand a lot. If engine was never damaged from secondary air valve falling apart and has spark, should fire on spray after oiling engine. Stay in touch
