This album was my introduction to the Allman Brothers. I had just started to learn bass in 1978. My bass teacher loved the Allmans he showed me pretty much everything off this album. Properly done with notation. Good stuff ✌🏼

A perfect foil for this film. These two running long distances in pain, but finding love, giving them the strength to go on, indefinitely, is a beautiful allegory! I love this film!

"Swimming Toward The Black Dot" Black spot heavy ink to my bones From lone sitting stark and alone Now my limbs are writing I start blurry casting a stone A lone ripple tears through the blank Lighting the face of the deep Stirring the delicate monsters I keep Kicking down Pushing toward the ground There's a word there I need As far in this world as I can from belief I'm (swimming toward the black dot) I see those bodies bobbing and wasting on the shore Soggy pages litter the sand with pure thought and White bones clean as mind in a vacuum taking sun Safe beach blankets flat and getting nowhere With the bodies bobbing and wasting on the shore Soggy pages litter the sand with pure thought and Lying, lying, lying, to themselves Dying, dying, dying clean and pure beneath a parasol Black spot heavy ink to my bones From lone sitting stark and alone Now my limbs are writing I start blurry casting a stone A lone ripple tears through the blank Stirring the delicate monsters I keep pushing down Stirring the delicate monsters I keep pushing down

To know what it means When the brain throbs to warn of symptoms that ride along With this potion made by the trauma one distills Inside their mothers womb When it spills over into the bunkers that men make To protect themselves from joylessness Envied my something unknown What does it feel like To wake up to a monster that's dressed itself in your clothes? Being left off of the portions of remembrance that have moved on To nurture themselves Long live the time When there was no need to exchange simpler feelings with toxicity Being born out of the same fashion That ruined so many past movers of trails Enduring the pain while being swallowed I what used to be the open arms of lament Then comes along a delicate triumph Glory be to the ones that heed not to potential consequence But take to trial all that has permitted itself to become common law The time will come When the shadows of those wakeless mornings Will bow to the masters of truth The masters of priority The masters of might and will The holders of a vase That reinsures the proof which shown itself at the beginning of time For all time

Ghost of the fire, hungry and bold Glows in the corner of my wood soul All his paper words have turned to stone Graves in the garden all burned to bone Sign your name and claim one of your own Graves in the garden all burned to bone The ground is stolen I hotly own Ghost of the fire glows in my home All his paper words have turned to stone Graves in the garden all burned to bone Sign your name and claim one of your own Graves in the garden all burned to bone My flesh on this earth is bound to live somewhere But where Everywhere I rest my head That fire ghost stands at the foot of the bed Money's the ember in my wood soul All his paper words have turned to stone Graves in the garden all burned to bone Sign your name and claim one of your own Graves in the garden all burned to bone

You've got a certain way about you darlin' Let me begin Counting the ways You've got the kind of love I need You've got the kind of love I need The years I waited for you seemed un-ending Wasted and grey You turned my sky colored again And brought the kind of love I need You've got the kind of love What do you count on a long wakeful night? You should count on me Good for a drink or a dance or a fight Breaking up can be as sweet All that you need Solace old friend And amazing I found you then You've got the kind of love What do you count on a long wakeful night? You should count on me Good for a drink or a dance or a fight Breaking up can be as sweet You've got a certain way about you darlin' Let me begin Counting the ways You've got the kind of love I need You've got the kind of love I need

Get your hand off of me when I tell you to Why are you bothering me? Do you think it's cute When I'm telling you We've said hello, now just say goodbye Quit bothering me when you're not my type Now just say goodbye It isn't complicated Turn around and go that way When I'm telling you I can't admire yo when you stand so close There, now let me look at you I was right before It isn't complicated Turn around and go that way I'm not asking you I am telling you

It's incredible to me how badly this band, well aside from a great year for them in '91, was absolutely slept on yet still contributed so much to music in general. Eitzel was/is genius.

Without a doubt, you are absolutely right about that in every possible way. Pure magic, and nothing short of. Such brilliance as we may never hear the like of again. I, for one, would dearly love to hear the reunion jam that must be going on right now in Heaven! Dickie, your grace and stage presence will be dearly missed by all lovers of great music, throughout the world. Rest you gentle, sleep ye sound, Southern man.♥️
