  Oh, Mingi 😩 In a Bouncy era interview on Idol Radio (iirc), hosted by Hongjoong and Seonghwa, Mingi and Yunho were playing a game where Yunho was supposed to guess Mingi's answers. They were asked what Mingi is #1 for in ATEEZ. Yunho said "stage charisma" (absolutely true). But Mingi answered... "Nothing". Yunho looked SO offended (as he should!). Hongjoong tried to hype Mingi up by asking him directly one thing he is good or even best at. But it backfired when Mingi remained silent because he couldn't think of anything. Hongjoong, Seonghwa and Yunho (the only members present) sprung to action and involved the fans who went crazy with suggestions about what Mingi is the best at. In the end Mingi said he's maybe #1 in the hearts of Atiny. Which is sweet (and true), but it's not what the question was about... he was supposed to talk about his talent, presence, etc. 😢 It broke my heart to see him like that. (In another segment of the same interview, Yunho had to guess which compliment Mingi likes the most. The answer was "handsome", so Hongjoong immediately took the chance to hype Mingi up and asked Atiny if Mingi is handsome and they all answered with a roaring yes. Mingi got all flustered, he was adorable) And you can tell that the others were taken aback; they expected Mingi to be his usual confident self in front of the cameras. Instead Mingi was 100% honest and the others immediately reacted by showering him with positive attention. And I'll never forget their interview with Sunmi, where Mingi said "I'm being realistic here" and that he's the only non-essential member of the group because there are many rappers like him in the industry. San and Hongjoong immediately intervened and told him no, he's unique and irreplaceable. Which is absolutely true, Mingi has such a distinctive voice in Kpop and he's actually the reason why I got into Kpop and ATEEZ. When they debuted the rap line of him and Hongjoong was so prevalent in every song: while the others were finding their sound and building their confidence, Hongjoong and Mingi led them. Mingi's voice (and moves) built a HUGE part of the fandom. He also writes for every song, is a top copyrighted idol and is now producing as well. It's terrible to see him putting himself down 😢 Anxiety really did a number on him. I think that in Mingi's mind, the group "doing well" during his hiatus cemented in him the idea that he's not essential. But the truth is that the group struggled a lot without him, kept talking about him and tried to involve him any way they could (calling him and putting him on speakerphone at events, holding up his picture or cardboard cutouts of him in videos, Yeosang hugging the air in Mingi's place in pics, Yunho doing the Ateez salute with both feet to represent Mingi, saying his name during songs, etc.). They missed him a lot, because 8 MAKES ONE TEAM. But it's like Mingi can't see or accept that. It's horrible to see him be so insecure. Thankfully he has the others, who adore him and are always ready to help and reassure him. But it's still sad. Btw they've just performed at Coachella, the first ever Kpop boy group to do so. And Mingi absolutely rocked it. He grabbed everybody's attention and his voice was everywhere and so distinctive 🔥 I hope one day he'll be able to see himself the way ATEEZ and Atiny see him ❤ and videos like this definitely help, so thank you ❤ hopefully he'll see this one day 😊

  He was the only one who caught my eye both voice wise and looks wise. I got introduced to Ateez while I was watching the Korean anime ‘lookism’ (Great anime btw) and The moment that intro song hit I was immediately captivated by the rapping, even though I’m not a big fan of rap. I was like wow what a unique voice I didn’t know K-pop/rap can be this good. I then went ahead and watched a couple of their mvs and it turned out the person behind the voice was just as unique! Gorgeous facial structure, menacing stage presence and an incredible voice. Go Mingi! 🔥
