It is amazing how they know a road has a high probability of IEDs, yet they just waltz down them like there is nothing they can do about it. Oh well. Darn it. Absolutely the dumbest thing I have ever seen, and makes it very hard to feel sorry for anyone that allows themselves to get hit. It's like making sure the road you are going down is clear, is more of a hassle then getting blown up. Imagine how long they would have lasted in Vietnam.

All for nothing. I am a Marine who served in Iraq as an infantryman. That was the biggest bunch of bullshit since Nam. We only created enemies there, paid people to not shoot at us that were supposed to be our allies. We did the same shit to Iraq as Israel is doing to Gaza and expected to be patted on the back. See, We helped..now you guys get to rebuild your country with American Contractors of course. Imagine someone going into your home, tossing it and leaving it a complete shamble. broken furnitiure, food spilled onto the ground.. all done by the guys who are supposed to be the "Good guys".. and your innocent, just a regular family like yours and mine just happen to be in a war zone.... would you be supportive and happy the Americans are there to help ? fuck no you would be pissed and want revenge

It wasn’t as deadly as previous years, but more than 200 U.S. soldiers died fighting in 2008 (93 more were “non-hostile deaths”) and thousands more Iraqis were killed. dcas.dmdc.osd.mil/dcas/app/conflictCasualties/oif/byMonth

At the start of the wars…. Even the full time troops weren’t properly equipped and trained for this war. Everything needed to be changed. Imagine how ill prepared the NG was for this war. In 2001 -2004 you had all these National Guard that never thought they would ever be deployed. All of them got deployed. They mostly were soft and just wanted the benefits without the commitment to training full time. Many couldn’t not pass PT tests. They couldn’t do their jobs because they trained one weekend a month and often canceled. They were poorly trained for the most part. They were teachers, farmers, cooks… etc. The whole Puerto Rico National Guard was activated and sent to Ft Brag and put in the most crappy barracks we had. Same ones we lived in. 82nd 319 Artillery. Embrace the suck. They didn’t want us to live nice. They wanted us gritty and hard. We were last to get anything new for living. National guard guys weren’t doing this kind of hard daily training. We Ran 10 miles on Monday, six on Wednesday. And 4 on Friday. Tuesday and Thursday were exercise days. Every single week without fail. Sometimes we would ruck March Wednesday or Friday which wasn’t any easier. Stand, punch, sprawl…. Nahhh. That’s child’s play. We did Brazilian Jujitsu that wasn’t part of PT. Bayonet training. Extensive field exercises. Live call out to airborne jump and end up in the field for weeks. Then when our unit deployed there was no armor. Canvas vehicles. I was nervous about the HUMVEE being basically an open sled for troops. No cover from attacks. So if we were not prepared for the enemy…. Imagine how ill prepared National Guard was for the enemy.

American government funded Pakistan who sold ammonium nitrate to the Taliban which was turned into IED’s. I believe American government funded the enemy to prolong the war to enrich themselves. I learn more and more about how corrupt and evil the government of America is today. Why would you leave a border wide open, allowing terrorists to enter by the thousands.
