Louisiana Channel

Louisiana Channel

Weekly videos on art, literature, architecture and design are produced by Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark.

Louisiana Channel is supported by Den A.P. Møllerske Støttefond, Ny Carlsbergfondet, C.L. Davids Fond og Samling and Fritz Hansen.

Louisiana Channel is a non-profit website based at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, Denmark. With Louisiana Channel as a platform, Louisiana supplies culture to the Net that extends beyond the museum’s own events. The Louisiana team produces videos about art and culture ongoing, and new videos are posted every week.

Louisiana Channel contributes to the permanent development of the museum as a cultural platform and wants to enhance the sense of the importance of art and culture. We see Louisiana Channel as a proposal for a part of a museum in tune with the 21st century, which is also able to hold the attention and interest of a new generation in cultural heritage, a thoughtful present and an ambitious future.

Unbelievably beautiful man without holding back, he has lived a story and made a project far more valuable then the acclaimed ‘The Americans’ by RFrank. I’ve never heard of him, never saw his pictures, never saw his book but this a gem. The man has some quirks yeah sure but what a heart, what a mission and my god some of these photographs are absolutely stunning….

It's also true that most truly authentic painters are treated as lepers and kept outside the art world. The treatment they receive is not dissimilar.

Your documentary impressed and touched me deeply. I am from Germany, that is why I came in contact with americans, in the eighties. I knew right away that I very much enjpyed the company of black americans. After years I also had a child with an black american. I don´t know if it is because of our gruesome german history, that I wanted to get as far away as possible from the german culture. Still nowadays I feel the same way, like I was born with the wrong colour. Your docu really hit my heart and of course, we all now how poorly blacks were and still are treated by white ppl- And I strongly believe ppl who are racist have a very bad childhood experience were they grew their anger. The most beautiful ppl are amongst the black americans.

Beautifully made documentary. I felt a deep sadness in his eyes the whole way through which all made sense when he spoke about his loss. Very talented photographer and thoughtful man. I related to a lot of what he said despite having a very different story.

Peppiatt stated: "I didn't dare go and knock." But why not? Why couldn't Peppiatt just go and knock on Giacometti's door and talk to him? I was looking at my most recent sculptures and it was obvious that they were far superior to the sculptures of Giacometti which are so embarrassingly bad, and no one really likes them, but art critics have to pretend to because they are obliged to just as they pretend to like de Kooning because they are obliged to. I am still waiting for Peppiatt to knock on my door but I don't think he dare knock: but it is his loss, not mine.

I did not know him but he is a good painter. My art school (SFAI)did not teach about him. He unites with everything, that shows he is open(guard less). He immerse in. A poet he is.
