What is the purpose of doing this? If it is for sealing against moisture as you mention with the rubber mastic layer, I would have expected you to cover the entire first layer. As it is, it looks like a bead of water running from one end of the busbar to the other would slip under the non-adhesive side of the fiberglass tape and be drawn in by capillary action.

Preciso refazer a proteção externa de um cabo elétrico onde sua proteção consiste em chumbo coberto com neoprene que já esta se deteriorando, este material substituiria este neoprene com a mesma eficiência, já que o neoprene tem mais de 60 anos?

Great, now instead of just tightening the set screws when they work loose, just change the whole connector……

Just like how convenient it is on modern cars to replace the whole expensive bearing hub instead of a few cheap bearings. Ain't marketing departments grand?

So in high frequency environment you cant retighten! We fight lugs loosening in our boxes because of this.

How long can this repair method last? Seeking for a long lasting solution method, as i seen some of these tape products having a shelf life of 5 years only…

As per 3m, use at least 3 rolls per inch. That should keep their stock value high.

How can I find the instruction on how many layers are needed for given voltage? Also how will I know which tape is better for my requirement?

Typically one uses heat shrink or resin under water for cable splicing. Thank for your interest in 3M products!

Just put mould on it and resin it up problem solved this way just seems like hassle

Talk about a roller coaster ride! I had high hopes for the tape job... it started out looking like a fantastic job meant to hold for several generations to come... then all of the sudden.... BOOM!!! out comes the knife!!!! destroying the near perfect wrapping job. Thanks for the demo! God love you 3M

Gloves hold dirt, grease and that sort of thing. Not something you want on things you don't want to blow out.
