    That old popup (frame and base) actually looks to be in pretty good shape, except for the holes in the tarp. From a popup owner to another, be sure to properly support the beds when they are extended out, inspect and lube the cables that raise it up, and don't forget to inspect tires and wheel bearings.

    Just the inside is painted with a thin coat to clean it up. I'm leaving the outside as-is but cleaning and adding a new coat of Fabric Guard to help with moisture.

    Absolutely! I can't believe people just sit with their thoughts and sounds of power tools working on projects. The best part is I already read the books so it's easy background listening. I've enjoyed listening to some of my favorites during the project!

    you need to invest in some bar clamps. You could have put some glue on that board in both places that cracked, bar clamped it together and you would have never noticed it. I also wanted to point out, in the previous video where you used the chop saw for the first time, never, never, never cut something without holding it tight to the fence (the back part) that could be very dangerous and you could have gotten hurt. If you are afraid of the tool then mistakes happen. If you don't want to hold the wood, then clamp it in place. But never cut it without holding it. Over all your video is nice. Don't forget to seal that new counter top. I suggest boiled linseed oil. Gives it a nice finish and is all natural. If you don't care and want something tougher, then look into Polycrylic by Minwax or Polyurethane. Keep up the good work. Feels good to look back and see that you did that.

    Enjoy watching your pop up journey. Its bringing back memories of when I did mine. Just remember, don't neglect the biggest part of the whole thing, your tires and axles. Without those in proper shape you will end up on the side of the street or sitting in your back yard not going anywhere. They can be expensive to fix depending on your situation and how handy your husband/you are. They are two person jobs.

    Thanks for following along! I actually had an entire camper inspection upon buying it, which included a look and test of everything under, on, and in the pop-up!

    Those support bars under the bed should attach to the frame. There should be small 'plugs' that they connect too

    Hi Kendyl, I am just starting my reno of my 1985 Palomino pop up! I was especially interested in how you painted the canvas on the inside. Mine leaked over the winter and got moldy. Ugh. Super excited to see how you finish yours. I have a lot to do on mine! I just subscribed, too :)

    I know you probably dont wanna hear it. Because it was the last thing I needed to hear as well after completely rennovating mine, but..... those tires need replaced. Like I know most people say ehhh it will be fine they are fine. But then those are usually the ones on the side of the road with a blow out. And they ARE NOT fun! In terms of the mechanical things, you MUST without a doubt and cant just say its good enough, replace the bearings, greese the bearings, change the tires. Trust me on this one!

  • @silentraven37
    @silentraven37Ай бұрын

    I second the motion on greasing the axles. Un-greased or old grease can get very hot while traveling and cause failures and blow outs.

    Your paint will eventually flake off of your trl. because you neglected to first abrade the surface using a fine grit sand paper or a coarse scotch pad.
