This was filmed on the 14th of June 2024 when an intense shower passed through, it only lasted for a couple of minutes but it was awesome to finally see one for the first time after years of watching storms 😊

Those pictures at the end were incredible! We live in Salisbury and dont seem to get many storms here, not sure if its down to the topography maybe. We spend time at Mudeford too as my partner has a sailboat there and likes to go Kayaking as well. Look forward to more storms from you👍

could well be a once in a life time video.. not matter what they say, certainly that far down. it may just be seen again but never that intence, great work.

Thanks, yeah it will take something very special to exceed what we saw on the 10/11th, but who knows, The sun is going through a extremely active period at the moment, something half as good as that night will still be very decent

Absolutely brilliant video, awesome photography, where I live here in Redditch in the Midlands we don't get storms like this very often unfortunately so I have to get my fix of watching a good lightning storm from people like you who upload them onto u tube and thank you so much for sharing this video with us, the lightning stills are epic and I love your commentary too,. I used to live in Porthleven Cornwall when I was a child and I remember we used to get some good storms come inland from off the sea. I would love to be able to film lightning like that with equipment like yours, well done1👍 😊

Thank you I'm glad you like it! I've loved thunderstorms since I was little and it does seem like we get less than we used to but that might just be selective memory. I'm a strong believer in 30 to 40 year long-term weather cycles having a major role to play in our weather, and expect we will start seeing some proper cold and storms again in the coming years! And the Midlands will be in prime position! Also from 4 minutes 54 all of the video was shot using the Google Pixel 8pro, so no need for super expensive gear

Some insane lightning strikes in there! Reminds me similar of early September 2022 up here in Coventry. Last September was also pretty decent with 1 CG within 300m off camera, otherwise mostly intracloud flashes. Hoping for similar here in a few weeks time!🤞

I so agree. We had a fabulous time in May. We were carfree at that time but it did not stop us exploring. The Priory was a surprise from the beautiful inside to the so welcoming staff. Boats trips from the harbour around it was great. The high street was thriving and the many eateries were good too. Buses gave us another chance to explore the area.

Very nice video and editing, I’ve just bought a Mini 3 with the flymore kit, upgrading from a HolyStone 720G which was good but video range was very variable. I’m hoping I can get footage like this 🙂

Thank you, Good choice on getting the mini 3, I did toy with the idea of getting one of the holystones, but the mini 3 seemed like the perfect first drone, and a decent price.

How do you find the eye tracking with this lens on your RP? I've been seriously considering this lens for my R5 however I've been reading some reports of difficulty with eye tracking and focus pulsing with the lens on mirrorless cameras. Sigma apparently told one reviewer that this lens is incompatible with mirrorless cameras unless shooting in single shot drive mode as opposed to burst mode. Do you have any experience with these issues?

Very cool video! Did you film the sunset for like 30 minutes or did you take a picture every 30sec or so?
@Southern-Storm2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jan, while both options you mentioned are possible, I actually used the time lapse function found in video mode, and I shot for around 20 minutes on each part of the sunset The benefit of this mode is you end up with a time lapse mp4 video straight from the camera, and a smaller overall file size Vs individual shots I had to edit this on my phone, which limits me to this type of file for now Whilst this method gives you less control on how much you can retrieve certain details in the image/video, it's very useful, if like me you don't have a pc at hand to edit with
