The Search For, Preservation and Archival of Vintage Toys.
Hi, I'm VTR Dave. A Brit on a mission to curate a high-quality and diverse collection of vintage toys, known as the VT aRchive.
A homage to the iconic toys of the 70s & 80s to be shared with as many enthusiasts as possible, right here on this channel. And who knows, perhaps in the future, on display in a public space like a museum. Now, wouldn't that be something!
Subscribe to stay updated as I search for vintage toys, lovingly restore them, delve into their history, and piece by piece, construct the VT aRchive.
As always, thanks goes out to everyone who supports the channel. Every view, like & comment is appreciated.
Stay safe & cheers!

I have that McDonald's Train Set and all the Dolls. 💪😎
No way!! Have you done a video on those, gonna have to watch if you have. Might see if I can find a few of them. I just love they were released by Remco 🤘
💪😎
🇬🇧🥊🇺🇸
Awesome video Dave!
Cheers Mike!! 🤘
Nice grab on the RoboCop bike. Love that line because they’re toys from R rated movies and the cap feature is sweet. Cool to see the mobile command with Action instead on the side. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! Yeah, always amusing when they release toys for R rated!!
Great vlog. Connery is my Bond. Did not really care for No Time to Die.
Thanks David! I was so disappointed with No Time To Die. Really hoping the next bond improves.
@@VintageToyRush Yes I found NTTD focused a bit too much on Bond's emotion problems. I really disliked the ending as well. Oh well, like you I hope the next Bond improves.
Mate an incredible toy fair indeed, was good to see stalls name and some classic doctor who toys in the wild, I also love kenners robocop series great pickup on the skull hog that is one I’m tracking down for my collection too and always good to see a variety toy goodness, great job 👏🏻
Hey Ryan!! Yeah, always enjoyable to spot some vintage Dr Who! Although they can be pricey! Robocop is one of those lines I pick up if it's a good deal 😎 The box on the Skull Hog is a little tired but was only £20, so very pleased. Thanks for watching!! 👍
@@VintageToyRush same I only get drwho or robocop stuff occasionally if it’s a good price too, but £20 for the skull hog that’s a good deal 👍🏻 I’ve been trying to get the robo-cycle but again it’s always high $50-80AUD but sometimes you get a win like you did, great job 👍🏻
Some cool items here! That massive He-Man figure would have come home with me if I could afford it, I'd love one of those! Thanks for taking us along with you Dave!
Hey Dave!! Thanks! 🤘 When I saw the He-Man I thought what line is that from cause it stood out! I still don't know, where is it from?
@VintageToyRush I don't know either! I don't think it was something that was available at retail or I'd have seen it before. I found one online that had been 3D printed but it didn't look as smooth as the one in your video. I shall investigate further!
Nice tour of the show and items discovered, Dave. Cool Robocop Motorcycle. With the more expensive show items, I wonder what the sales percentage might be for a lot of the sellers. I guess it depends on buyers at the show, and any bargaining of the final price. If they keep returning to the shows, they must be having some success. Thanks.
Thanks!! 🤘 I've often wondered about sellers who return with the same items show after show. If I was a dealer I'd be wanting to shift stuff as quickly as possible. But I think some dealers are happy to actually keep the items in their collection for a while 🤣
@@VintageToyRush Good point. Thanks. Yes, also to show some of their collectibles, sometimes more than wanting to sell. Although renting a spot costs money, so hopefully they are able to sell their less expensive items.
@@BlackArroToons Yeah, they must be covering their costs. I've never sold anything LOL so really not sure how much they could make in one show
Great video
Thanks, appreciate it!! 🤘
Great video. I like it when you take your time at the different vendors.
Thanks!! 🤘 I try to be a little different to the usual toy fair videos. Both sellers and buyers have thanked me for allowing them connect up after watching one of these videos 👍
Great video VTR, always nice to see what's about at the latest toy fairs. Glad you had a great time and met up with some cool dudes! Cherry on the top, nice pick ups!
Thanks Dez!! 🤘 Yeah, this time really was just a chill-out visit, no expectations to find anything 👍
Just fantastic mate
Cheers Brian!! 🤘
Another great fair Dave, and nice pick up too!!! Saw i lovely star com shadow bat in there as well!!! But!…..I had no idea Dc deflector did custom size cases!!!😮 that will help me massively!!!! Thanks for the info man 👍👊
Cheers Luke!! 🤘 Ha ha, I didn't even spot the Starcom until your comment, not at the show, not while editing 🤣 We've spoken about the Deflector cases, fingers crossed these work out for us 👍
Some nice pickups there Dave! Great vid, thanks for sharing!
Thanks! 🤘 Pleased with the Robocop pickup! 👍
Good c you dave 🇬🇧🤠🇺🇸
Cheers Jon 🇬🇧🥊🇺🇸
Good to meet you Dave👍
And you Jules! Thanks for spending time walking round and having a chat 👍
Brilliant video, really well put together 😊👍
Thanks Dominic!! 🤘 Appreciate the comment, this KZread stuff isn't easy 👍
Great video Dave and there was certainly lots of good stuff on the stalls. I had a brilliant time spent there browsing and talking to people and bumping into you. Very nice Robocop pickup too!
Thanks Jeff! 🤘 It was great to finally meet you. And you're right, there's nothing more relaxing than just browsing and chatting on a Sunday 👍
Awesome catching up again at the show, Jax is officially in 4 KZread videos now 😂
Ha ha!! Jax will be a KZread sensation soon 👍 Good to see you!!
I am thinking of going to the one in Coventry in a few weeks. Have you been to it before ?
Hey Stephen, I've not been to the Coventry one but looks like it's organised by BP fairs, should be good. If you go, would be interested to hear what you think. Would love to visit a few more further north like Conventry & Doncaster.
@@VintageToyRush Will do, its about a 2 hour drive for me but would be nice to get some footage to put on here.
G'day Dave, Wonderful video. That Wolfman figure (maybe mego ?) at 1:35 looked very interesting. I would of been keen on him. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Thanks! 🤘 Oh yeah, that Wolfman is cool!! I think the only Wolfman in my collection is the Remco 3.75 one - love those figures 👍
@@VintageToyRush G'day Dave, Ohh that Ramco 3.75 wolfman sound nice. He would fit nicely in the background of a Palitoy Cantina Playset. Just hanging out with Hammerhead and snaggletooth. Cheers.
@@Teriyaki_Emu Ha ha!! He would! fit right in. Some of those Universal Monster figures have vinyl capes just like Vader! Definitely influenced by Star Wars styling.
Another great video!
Thanks Ed! 🤘
Love these toyhunts you do. Always fun to come along by watching ypur videos 👍😉
Thanks Chris! 🤘 Really appreciate your support as always 🤘
Gret vid - Last time I went to Shepton was about 18 months ago and they had barely any vintage action figures and there werent any traders on the top floor so glad to see things have improved.
Ah yes! It's definitely hit and miss which is why I don't attend too often as it's a longer drive for me 👍
Nice video again, keep up the good work
Thanks Marc!! 👍
I always look forward to new videos from you. I'm from Germany; we don't have as many toy events as you have. Nice video again, keep up the good work
Thanks Marc!! 🤘 Really appreciate your comment and thanks for the support. We do have a lot of events here in the UK - most of them are quite small. I've seen / know a number of collectors from Belgium & Netherlands, but yeah not seen a toy fair from Germany... yet 👍
@@VintageToyRush check out the biggest Toy Event in Germany September 14th - 15th : TOYPLOSION; this is now number two; I visited last year already; absolute crazy!
@@marcd.4301 i'll look that one up!!!
I noticed that the Alclad top coat is satin finish, you may get better results with a gloss coat instead of satin. Satin will dull down the chrome.
It was a while ago now... I think I showed the satin bottle but used the gloss coat. Anyway, thanks for the advice! 👍
Thanks for stopping by!! Appreciate you all 🤘 Let me know if you spot anything you would pick up! Cheers, Dave. 👍
What a great toy.
Sure is!!
Visionaries for the win they had a TV show and fit in with other lines of the time. Super naturals are still very cool though
Yeah, Visionaries probably edge it for me too! However, anything with a hologram is a win!! 🤘
You didn’t happen to get a closeup pic of the voice box spring that returns the switch/pole (next to the needle arm spring). Mine is missing one. Cheers
I had a quick look at the video and am not sure which spring you mean - I have a separate video on the Imperial Troop Transporter voice box which is very similar with lots of close ups which might help... kzread.info/dash/bejne/h2ae1aexkpq3cdI.html
Speed needs dropping a little more.
Possibly, it was a while ago since this was done 😎
Wow Dave! This was a fascinating process from start to finish! Well done! Love the scene at the end too! 😂
Thanks!!! 🤘 Glad you enjoyed this, definitely one of my favourite restorations. Oh, and had fun the end scene 🤣
Bloomin marvellous sir
Cheers Nic!! 🤘 Heading to Shepton tomorrow, you gonna be there?
Hey VTR Dave, You are looking great and your video presentation is awesome! Thanks for your new video on the restoration for Steve & Joe from @TimeTunnelToysUK of a Japanese 1970s Bullmark Tinplate Godzilla. Your channel can perform even better if you optimize your video titles, descriptions, and tags, which seem to be missing when you upload videos. This is why your videos are currently not showing up on KZread in the search results for your target audience. You can attract more viewers by making these modifications on your channel. Thank you! Best regards, Rezaul Bari
I’m really glad I found this channel Dave! Always look forward to VTR and Slime House videos. Excellent work as usual 👍 Big fan from NZ
Thanks Cameron! Really appreciate your support from the other side of the world! 🤘 I'm a fan of Slime House too, we occasionally bump into each other at toy fairs! Glad to have you here 👍
Love the disassembley, wpuld have liked to see how the cleaning process works
Thanks!! 👍 Unfortunately, cleaning is pretty boring to film and watch LOL so don't feature that too often 😎
@@VintageToyRush totally understand, was just curious that's all. I'll be watching this video a few times as I have a very run done Hurricane to restore. On that point,I don't suppose you have any recommendations for restoring sun faded blue plastic? Thanks, and keep up the great work
In this case, I simply used wet wipes for cleaning, and maybe a little lighter fluid for any stubborn marks (which I apply to the wet wipe). Now restoring sun faded plastic is tough - I can't give any specific advice but there are general plastic restorers out there for cars etc and possibly it could be recoloured (see Toy Polloi's video on Max Rebo) but I'm not sure if that'll work on the Hurricane plastic.
@@VintageToyRush thank you, I really appreciate the advice. I'll keep having a look and see what I find.
Lol, that was brilliant. Godzilla says nope to a face off against Chuck Norris. Understandable considering. Well done mate, looks like that was very hard work.
Thanks Bryn!! 🤘 Ha ha, glad you enjoyed the end sequence, that was fun to create. And yeah, you can have ups and downs with restorations but I love the challenge 👍
Wow great job 👍🏼
Thanks Kenny!! 👍 Appreciate it! 🤘
I so enjoyed watching the tiny details of fixing these Dino-might toys!!! Thank you and DCB for your awesome hospitality and an another great visit. We love you!
Thank you Scuba!! You know you're welcome anytime! 🇺🇸🇬🇧💪 Glad you enjoyed this resto!! 🤘
What kind of glue are you using. I've tried several, but it doesn't seem to work
For the cockpit cone I used CA glue (superglue) but with pins to strengthen the joint. For other types of plastic you could try plastic weld.
Cool to see MechaGodzilla's inner workings. Nice work restoring this classic toys, even though the one had some trouble. Godzilla Minus One is a good movie too. Cool destruction scene that the end with Godzilla.
Thanks!!! 🤘 Haven't watched Minus One yet but will do now it's on Netflix!!! Glad you enjoyed the end scene and yeah, the mechanical inners are impressive with this one 👍
Great job Dave.. That looked tricky.. 👍😎👍
Cheers Nick!! 🤘 Some challenges along the way, but really enjoyed this restoration! 👍
Thank you so much for fixing Dads Godzilla . Loved watching this come back to life.
Thanks Joe!! 🤘 Your dad was super pleased with the result at Sandown. Hopefully, will see you at a fair soon 👍
The scared Winston and Chuck Norris part were very funny! Give yourself some humor credit!
Credit accepted!! 🤘 Had fun creating that scene 🤣
That end result was stunning!
They really knew how to make a decent toy back then! And Steve, the owner is over the moon too!! Definitely a result 💪
I liked your joke. Godzilla Minus One. 😂
Ha ha!! Well, at least someone laughed at that one 🤣
Pressure was on Dave! But as always, you nailed it!
Thanks Mark!! 👍 The challenge only made this more enjoyable!!
